Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Mithril is a new resource arriving on 5 November 2026. Ubisoft says it will be used to upgrade Divine Gear and strengthen runes, giving Eivor’s equipment another layer of progression.

Ubisoft has confirmed what Mithril does, but not where to obtain it or how much each upgrade costs. If you’re searching for a farming location before the update, there isn’t an official one to follow yet.

What is Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Mithril?

The resource was announced on 29 October alongside New Game+, new runes and changes to Divine Gear. It’s part of the upcoming Valhalla update rather than something you can already collect from an existing event.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Mithril has two confirmed uses: Divine Gear upgrades and rune strengthening. One improves equipment; the other develops a rune. Ubisoft hasn’t described Mithril as a general replacement for older crafting materials.

Mithril upgrades Divine Gear

Ubisoft says Divine Gear quality is being extended to all items. Mithril can be used to upgrade Divine Gear, so players with favourite armour or weapons will have more potential equipment improvements to explore.

That isn’t a promise that every piece will automatically reach Divine quality when the patch installs. The individual upgrade requirements and costs haven’t been announced.

For Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Mithril, the next useful detail is its cost per upgrade. Check the in-game upgrade requirements after November 5 rather than following a materials list from before this system existed.

How Mithril strengthens runes

Mithril also strengthens runes, and the update adds new runes to the game. That gives players a second place to invest the resource beyond improving armour and weapons.

Upgrading a piece of equipment and strengthening a rune aren’t the same action. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Mithril supports both, but Ubisoft hasn’t revealed the numerical bonuses, upgrade tiers or material costs for individual runes.

It’s too early to pick an optimal rune setup from the announcement alone. The new rune list, stacking rules and effects will need to be checked in the full patch notes or in-game.

Where to find Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Mithril

No Mithril farming location has been announced. Ubisoft’s October update doesn’t name any boss, chest, region, merchant or repeatable activity that drops it.

Older Valhalla crafting guides are not evidence of a new Mithril source. Players looking for an Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Mithril farming route will need the November 5 patch details before following exact locations.

Once an official source or the game identifies Mithril drops, it’s possible to compare actual rewards and upgrade costs. Until then, a precise farming route would be guesswork.

Does Mithril affect Power mode?

The same update adds an optional Power progression system that counts Gear, Runes and Masteries towards Eivor’s overall Power. Since Mithril strengthens gear and runes, players interested in that system will want to understand both types of upgrades.

It’s reasonable to expect equipment improvements to be relevant, but Ubisoft hasn’t published their individual Power values. Nor has it said players must spend Mithril to begin New Game+. The two systems are arriving together without an announced mandatory spending requirement.

Our Valhalla Power mode guide explains the confirmed progression contributors. The New Game+ guide covers the November 5 release, partial carryover and dedicated replay scaling.

What to do before the November 5 update

Before 5 November, there’s no need to search existing maps for an unannounced material. Keep your saves and preferred gear ready, then check the update’s equipment screens for the new resource.

The distinction worth remembering is simple: Divine Gear upgrades improve equipment, while rune strengthening develops its enhancements. Both are confirmed uses of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Mithril. Exact locations and material costs will need their own verified guide after release.
