To unlock Ming in VOID DIVER, reach Level 5 and finish the Lounge-linked quests in the November closed beta. Ming is a new playable melee bruiser who uses a staff, and NEMO STUDIO has confirmed that the character’s recruitment is tied to the Lounge rather than a particular equipment drop.
Ming cannot be selected immediately at the start of the test. You need to progress far enough to open the relevant Lounge quests and finish them. Once recruited, Ming can gain Skilled Levels and activate more Traits through normal Dives.
How to unlock Ming in VOID DIVER at Level 5

The route to unlock Ming in VOID DIVER starts with progression in the closed beta. Do not search the earlier demo for the new character. Follow these steps in the November test:
- Play the beta until you reach Level 5.
- Visit BALUSHA’s Lounge and look for the quests linked to that room.
- Track those quests and complete the objectives shown in your journal and on the HUD.
- After the Lounge-linked chain is finished, check your selectable Divers for Ming.
The October developer notes identify Level 5 and the Lounge quest chain, but do not provide a named step-by-step mission route. Follow the objectives in the CBT’s quest log: the updated HUD now marks the relevant region to help you find your destination.
Where to unlock Ming in VOID DIVER: BALUSHA’s Lounge
The Lounge is more than a decoration screen in the new build. Diver NPCs appear there, you can speak with them, and the game allows character switching through Lounge interactions. More conversations open as characters grow, making it a natural place for recruitment and progression quests.
That is why the answer to where you unlock Ming in VOID DIVER is the Lounge quest chain. Simply entering the Lounge or reaching the minimum level is not the same as completing the recruitment requirements. Keep following the quests until their objectives have been cleared.
What weapon does Ming use, and what is the character’s role?
Ming carries a staff and is described as a melee bruiser. The announced playstyle centres on close-range combat rather than primarily ranged attacks. The developer compares Ming’s style to Noah or Gayoung for players who enjoy those characters.
Once you unlock Ming in VOID DIVER, try the staff in the Training Ground before heading into another Dive. Its numerical DPS readout is useful for comparing your equipment and Trait choices. The developer has confirmed Ming’s weapon and role, rather than a single mandatory equipment set.
After you unlock Ming in VOID DIVER: Skilled Levels and Traits
Ming is among five characters given exclusive Traits and Skilled Levels in the CBT. Characters gain experience at the end of Dives, and higher Skilled Levels let you activate more Traits. Those upgrades can affect passives, Skills and Stats, so there is still progression to work on once the character has joined your roster.
Recruitment and character development are separate jobs. First complete the Level 5 Lounge quests, then play Dives to earn experience for Ming’s Skilled Levels and inspect the available Traits. The new Training Ground provides numeric DPS results so you can compare how your build performs instead of relying entirely on descriptions.
Why is Ming missing from your roster?
Before trying to unlock Ming in VOID DIVER again, confirm that you are running the separate November CBT. The older Steam demo was withdrawn on 28 October and does not share its saves with this test. Having access to the demo is not the same as having a beta key.
If the character still is not on your roster, reopen the Lounge-linked quest chain and make sure every objective has been turned in. Reaching Level 5 starts the process; it does not complete the quests for you. Check that you are in the November CBT build, not the older demo.
Can you keep Ming after the beta?
No beta progress carries into the January 2027 release, so levels and equipment earned while testing Ming will not become a head start in the full game. NEMO STUDIO has not confirmed whether the final version uses the identical Ming recruitment quests.
For the current test, the steps to unlock Ming in VOID DIVER remain simple: reach Level 5, follow the Lounge-linked quests to completion, and then try the new staff-based combat style.
