VOID DIVER Skilled Levels let you activate more character Traits as your Divers gain experience from completing Dives. The system is part of the November 2026 closed beta, where NEMO STUDIO has added exclusive Traits and Skilled Levels for five playable characters, including Ming.
Each Dive contributes to character growth. When you return, look for new Trait notifications and check whether the character has another activation available. If you play alone, pay special attention to the common Traits that were reworked to provide solo benefits.
How VOID DIVER Skilled Levels work

VOID DIVER Skilled Levels are tied to character development. The studio says characters earn experience at the end of each Dive, and increasing their Skilled Level allows a greater number of Traits to be activated. That gives you more scope to tailor a character as you continue playing.
Traits can improve passives, Skills and Stats, but the available character-exclusive choices differ between Divers. Open the Trait screen after raising a Skilled Level and compare what you can now activate rather than picking solely by the number displayed beside an ability.
How to earn VOID DIVER Skilled Levels experience
To progress VOID DIVER Skilled Levels, complete Dives and collect the experience granted at the end. Then check the character’s current Skilled Level and whether the higher level allows you to activate another Trait. The announced mechanic makes repeated play meaningful even after a character is unlocked.
- Select a Diver you want to develop.
- Complete a Dive and receive the end-of-Dive experience reward.
- Check whether that character’s Skilled Level has increased.
- Look for available Trait activations or new notifications.
- Choose Traits that support how you actually play the character, then test the result.
The studio has changed notifications so NPCs and the UI show when a Trait can be unlocked. Previously you had to keep reopening the interface to look for new options. The new indicator is a useful prompt to return to your character’s progression rather than continuing to play without checking.
What is the difference between Traits and Skilled Levels?
A Skilled Level determines how many Traits you can activate as a character grows. A Trait is the actual passive, Skill or Stat choice that affects the build. The VOID DIVER Skilled Levels system therefore controls progression opportunities, while the Traits determine what those opportunities do.
The Next Fest demo merged the older Tech Development system into Traits, including effects shared between Divers. The CBT builds on that foundation with character-exclusive Traits for five Divers. Check whether a Trait is common or character-specific before deciding where to invest your resources.
Ming is a good example of how the systems connect. The new character becomes playable after completing the Lounge-linked quests that begin at Level 5, then earns Skilled Level experience from Dives just like the other characters. Unlocking a Diver and building that Diver’s Traits are two different jobs.
Do VOID DIVER Skilled Levels and Traits work in solo play?
Some common Traits previously focused on party benefits have been changed so they also provide benefits when playing alone. That does not mean every co-op-focused effect now works in every solo situation. The studio specifically describes a selection of adjusted common Traits, not a blanket conversion of the entire system.
If you normally play solo, inspect the Trait description in the beta before choosing it. With VOID DIVER Skilled Levels opening additional activations, it is worth considering solo utility as well as raw damage, especially when an effect previously depended on having teammates nearby.
Do you need materials to unlock Traits?
Materials are part of the Trait progression economy, and the developer says it has rebalanced item drops to reduce cases where progression or crafting is blocked by a stubbornly rare material. However, the October notes do not give a definitive farming route for each character’s specific Trait requirements.
The Lounge now has facilities that can produce some crafting materials outside of Dives. Those additions may help your wider progression, but they are not evidence that every required character Trait material is produced there. Match the item’s current in-game description to its actual available source.
How to test a new build
After using VOID DIVER Skilled Levels to expand your Trait choices, visit the Training Ground. The new settings allow you to adjust dummy and testing conditions, and the game now displays DPS as a numerical value. Test comparable scenarios before deciding whether one equipment and Trait combination is stronger.
Try to change one part of your build at a time. If you swap weapons, set accessories and Traits together, a higher DPS number will not tell you which change made the difference. The Training Ground is useful precisely because it gives you a repeatable way to compare options.
Will Skilled Level progress survive the closed beta?
No. The November closed beta saves are separate from the older Steam demo and will not carry into the full game. The developer has said the demo’s save data will transfer to January 2027, but that promise does not cover VOID DIVER Skilled Levels earned during the limited beta.
