Black Flag Resynced New Game Plus arrived on October 27, 2026, with Title Update 1.0.8. It lets Edward Kenway return to the beginning of his adventure carrying almost everything he earned the first time, from weapons and trinkets to money, Jackdaw upgrades and his Kenway Fleet ships. The story and the state of the Caribbean do reset, however.
You’ll still have reasons to revisit familiar places: forts change hands again, officers need to be recruited and New Game+ introduces Escudos for exclusive rewards. The mode supports five repeat campaigns, each bringing tougher elite soldiers and naval patrols.
How to Start Black Flag Resynced New Game Plus

Install Title Update 1.0.8, available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC since October 27. New Game+ starts from a completed campaign, so finish Edward’s story first. Keep a separate manual save of that run if you’d like to return to unfinished exploration later.
Once you’ve finished the story, select the completed campaign and choose New Game+, not a standard New Game. The important thing is to start the replay mode associated with your finished progress; a normal fresh game won’t automatically preserve Edward’s gear. Keep your original save until you’ve confirmed the new cycle is running as intended.
If you can’t find the mode, check that Update 1.0.8 is installed and that the save has completed the campaign. Don’t overwrite a finished save while troubleshooting. Once the new cycle starts, the story and exploration map reset, even though the equipment listed below comes with you.
What Carries Over in Black Flag Resynced New Game Plus
| Progress | What happens |
|---|---|
| Edward’s tools, weapons, upgrades and trinkets | Carried over |
| Jackdaw upgrades, officer abilities and pets | Carried over |
| Money, materials, trade goods and non-quest inventory | Carried over |
| Unlocked outfits and customisation options | Carried over |
| Hideout progress, perks and art collection | Carried over |
| Kenway Fleet ships | Carried over |
| Codex entries, acquired and completed treasure maps | Carried over |
| Previously purchased store items | Carried over |
| Story progress, current quests and quest items | Reset or removed |
| Forts, explored locations, map fog and officers on board | Reset; officers need recruiting again |
Black Flag Resynced New Game Plus keeps your acquired and completed treasure maps, which is particularly helpful if you spent time collecting them. The map fog still returns, so don’t confuse retained Codex progress with an already explored Caribbean.
Why Is My Jackdaw or Hideout Locked After Restarting?
In Black Flag Resynced New Game Plus, your Jackdaw and Hideout upgrades are saved, but their locations stay locked until the story reopens access. This can look like lost progress when you first restart, even though the upgrades are still there.
Likewise, your unlocked officer abilities survive but the officers themselves are not waiting aboard the ship. Recruit them again as the campaign progresses. The forts that support exploration and travel must also be retaken because map fog and location progress reset.
What Resets in the New Campaign?
The complete story, active quests and quest-specific inventory items reset. You will revisit previously completed locations and reclaim forts rather than resume the original world map. The reset is intentional and gives Black Flag Resynced New Game Plus its own progression despite Edward’s stronger equipment.
Quest-specific items disappear because their missions restart. Money, materials and trade goods remain in your inventory, alongside purchased items. If an upgrade seems unavailable immediately, remember that access to the Jackdaw or Hideout must be restored through the story first.
How Many Black Flag Resynced New Game Plus Cycles Can You Play?
Black Flag Resynced New Game Plus supports five repeat campaigns, up to New Game+++++. Each loop brings more frequent elite soldiers and patrols from maximum-rank ships. You keep Edward’s gear, but the increasingly dangerous Caribbean means the later runs won’t feel like simply starting again with everything unlocked.
That built-in scaling is not the same thing as Nightmare Mode. Nightmare is a separate difficulty choice that you can toggle for ground combat, stealth, naval combat and activities independently. You can therefore replay the campaign with New Game+ scaling without necessarily using Nightmare across every activity.
Black Flag Resynced New Game Plus Rewards: Escudos and Cosmetics

Escudos are a currency exclusive to Black Flag Resynced New Game Plus. You earn them by completing challenges and looting chests cleared in an earlier run, or by exchanging Reales at a General Store. They buy exclusive outfits and items. Regular items that previously used Reales still cost Reales at their existing prices.
Keep some Reales for the equipment you normally buy. They still work at the existing vendors for the same prices, while Escudos unlock the separate New Game+ items. The General Store displays the currency exchange so you can check the actual cost before converting your money.
Should You Start New Game Plus Immediately?
If you want the new rewards or another run through a tougher Caribbean, you can start once the story is complete. If you still have side quests or collectibles to finish, keep your completed save intact. Starting again resets the campaign and the exploration map.
Before starting Black Flag Resynced New Game Plus, make sure you’re ready to replay missions, retake forts and recruit your officers again. You aren’t starting empty-handed, but you are taking Edward back through the story with tougher enemies waiting in later cycles.
