007 First Light New Game Plus: How to Unlock It and What Carries Over

007 First Light New Game Plus

007 First Light New Game Plus is now live as part of the free Extended Operations update, and the unlock rule is simple: finish the full campaign once on any difficulty. After that, Bond can start another run with the extra freedom IO Interactive added for returning players rather than replaying the story exactly as it worked the first time.

The biggest reason to use 007 First Light New Game Plus is the new flexibility around outfits, gadgets and difficulty. IOI says unlocked outfits and gadgets become available in the replay framework, while the new 00 difficulty also opens after campaign completion. That makes a finished save the key requirement, not a specific trophy, difficulty clear or TacSim rank.

To unlock 007 First Light New Game Plus, complete the entire campaign. IO Interactive explicitly says any difficulty counts, so an Easy, Normal or Hard clear is enough. You do not need to replay every optional objective, max out TacSim or collect every piece of Intel before the mode becomes available.

Once the campaign is complete, use the New Game+ option from the campaign flow and choose whether to restart from the beginning or return through completed checkpoints. IOI describes the feature as a second run built for a seasoned agent, with more control over Bond’s loadout without removing the story-based order of gadget introductions.

What carries over in 007 First Light New Game Plus

007 First Light New Game Plus carries over your unlocked outfits and gives you broader access to gadgets. The important limitation is that gadget availability still respects story progression. A gadget can only be selected once you have reached the point in the story where Q has already introduced it, so New Game+ does not let you break the campaign sequence with late-game tools in the opening mission.

Outfits are much freer. The Mission Wardrobe lets you switch clothing from the journal during a New Game+ playthrough, then restart from a chosen checkpoint to see the new look. That is a cosmetic change rather than a progression shortcut, but it is useful if you want to replay set pieces with a specific Bond style.

How Gadget on Demand works

Gadget on Demand is one of the most useful parts of 007 First Light New Game Plus. During a mission you can swap between gadgets that are valid for that point in the story rather than waiting until the next chapter. That makes repeat runs more experimental because you can adapt to a route, stealth opportunity or combat situation after the mission has already started.

The story gate still matters. If the campaign has not introduced a particular gadget yet, New Game+ does not make it selectable early. Think of the system as flexible access to tools Bond has already earned by that point, not a completely unrestricted inventory from the opening minutes.

Can you use 00 difficulty with New Game+?

Yes. 007 First Light New Game Plus unlocks alongside the new 00 difficulty after you finish the campaign. IO Interactive also says the two features are not inseparable: you can use the New Game+ outfit and gadget options on Easy, Normal or Hard, or combine them with 00 difficulty if you want the hardest replay.

That is useful if you mainly want the wardrobe and gadget freedom. You do not have to turn the second playthrough into a maximum-difficulty run just to access the new customization features.

What does not simply carry over?

007 First Light New Game Plus is a replay of the campaign, so do not treat it as a continuation of the exact story state at the end of your first run. IOI specifically confirms outfits and gadget flexibility, but it does not describe New Game+ as carrying every mission state, checkpoint condition or collectible position forward unchanged.

If you are returning for unfinished collectibles or challenges, check how that activity is tracked before assuming the New Game+ run is the best cleanup route. The new mode is primarily about replay freedom, loadout choice and the newly unlocked difficulty.

Why 007 First Light New Game Plus is worth starting now

007 First Light New Game Plus gives the campaign a noticeably different second-run rhythm because you can change Bond’s presentation and react to missions with a wider toolset. Combined with 00 difficulty, it also creates a reason to revisit encounters after you already know their routes, social spaces and combat beats.

For players who have already finished the story, 007 First Light New Game Plus is available immediately after installing Update 1.3.0. If the option is missing, first confirm the update is installed and that the save actually records a completed campaign before troubleshooting anything more drastic.
