Monster Hunter Outlanders Beginners Guide starts on Aesoland, where you create a Fated Adventurer, choose a weapon and learn to hunt huge monsters across an open world. This is a new mobile adventure by TiMi Studio Group, not a smaller port of Monster Hunter Wilds.

There are eight launch weapons, solo exploration, four-player hunts and three Buddy types. For your first session, finish the tutorial, practise one weapon and learn what your companion does before spending upgrade materials across several characters.

Download the official iOS or Android client, choose the intended account and server, and complete the opening tutorial. Let the game finish its resource installation before signing in. The international launch opened at 22:00 UTC on October 28, so UK players could start from 10 PM GMT that evening.

Create your Fated Adventurer and learn the current movement, dodge and attack prompts. Don’t rush into high-difficulty hunts while you’re still unsure how your chosen weapon blocks or recovers after an attack.

Monster Hunter Outlanders Beginners Guide: Choosing your first weapon

There are eight weapons: Great Sword, Long Sword, Dual Blades, Hammer, Lance, Charge Blade, Heavy Bowgun and Bow. Lance is an approachable option for guarding, while Bow and Heavy Bowgun create more distance from an enemy. Dual Blades are quick but demand close positioning.

Practise a short attack, an evade and a safe follow-up during an early hunt. For guarding try Lance; for distance try Bow or Heavy Bowgun. The weapon comparison explains the alternatives.

Monster Hunter Outlanders Beginners Guide: What are Adventurers and Buddies?

Your customised Fated Adventurer can try different weapons. Named Adventurers have particular weapons, combat roles and unique Hunting Arts. The announced classes include Assault, Disruptor and Support, so a named hunter offers more than a visual appearance.

Buddies are your companions, including Palico, Rutaco and Trillan. They assist with activities such as hunting, support and building. They aren’t a substitute for three human friends in a four-player party. See the Adventurers and companions index.

Monster Hunter Outlanders Beginners Guide: Exploration, gathering and crafting

Aesoland is built around exploring, collecting resources and constructing useful facilities. Pick up materials as you move through biomes, then check the crafting interface for what a weapon, tool or facility actually consumes. Avoid spending rare resources on an upgrade you don’t intend to equip.

Collect materials as you explore and check the crafting recipe for your next weapon or facility. Build useful travel structures such as launchers or ziplines when they become available, rather than spending every resource on equipment you aren’t using.

Monster Hunter Outlanders Beginners Guide: How to handle your first big monster

Watch the monster complete an attack before attempting a charged hit. Dodge away, then attack during its recovery. Great Sword and Hammer especially reward choosing a safe opening instead of continuing a combo through incoming attacks.

Radiant versions behave differently from familiar mainline species. Radiant Rathian has increased venom pressure, Radiant Anjanath has stronger fire attacks and Radiant Kulu-Ya-Ku can use excavated material as a weapon. The monster index covers those differences.

Monster Hunter Outlanders Beginners Guide: When to hunt with friends

The game supports solo play or groups of up to four human hunters. When your party options become available, confirm everyone uses the intended regional game service and has finished required starting setup. Assign roles around familiar weapons rather than assuming one mandatory team composition.

See How to Play With Friends for joining a squad and checking failed invitations. If you’re struggling to log in, fix the account or connection before retrying the party.

Monster Hunter Outlanders Beginners Guide: Early rewards and progression

Check the in-game mailbox for any launch or pre-registration rewards that apply to your account and server. The official Buddy Squad event asks you to create a character, select the correct server on the event page and then collect eligible items from the mailbox.

Before tougher hunts, check your equipped weapon, healing supplies, Buddy and next useful upgrade. Claim eligible launch rewards on the correct account and server, then tackle stronger monsters once dodging and positioning feel comfortable.
