Warframe Portau Card Game is a new in-universe card game debuting as a tournament during the October 31, 2026 charity finale stream. Digital Extremes has published the scoring and discard rules used for that livestream, including exactly when a card earns 2, 4 or 7 points.
For the October 31 stream, you place cards into numbered slots and score points according to the gaps between cards. You can also use Jokers or trade cards for a penalty. This is the tournament rule set, which Digital Extremes says may change for the Tau release.
Warframe Portau Card Game: How do the tournament rules work?

Portau comes from the Hunra casino on Fornax. The October 31 stream brings it into Digital Extremes’ studio for a card-game competition supporting the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.
In this Warframe Portau Card Game tournament, cards have a matching board slot arranged from left to right: Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King. You place each ordinary card into its matching slot, not an open slot of your choice.
You score more for a card placed between two existing cards, especially when the gaps on either side are equal. An Ace played before the first occupied slot scores only two points.
Warframe Portau Card Game scoring: 2, 4 and 7 points
| Points | When you get them |
|---|---|
| 2 | Your card is not between two cards already on the board |
| 4 | Your card is between two cards, but the empty-slot gaps are unequal |
| 7 | Your card is between two cards with equal gaps on the left and right |
Digital Extremes provides a sample board with 2, 4, 9 and King already placed. Put an Ace into the Ace position and you score 2 points because it is not between two cards.
For Warframe Portau Card Game scoring, the same example gives 4 points for a 6: it sits between 4 and 9, but the gaps have different lengths. A Jack placed between 9 and King earns 7 points because there is one empty slot on either side.
For example, a 6 placed between 4 and 9 earns four points, while a Jack between 9 and King earns seven. The Warframe Portau Card Game rewards filling balanced gaps, but you cannot simply hold playable cards indefinitely to force a higher score.
How Jokers work in the Portau tournament
A Joker can go into any empty slot and follows the same 2, 4 and 7-point positioning rules. It is a flexible card when you need to fill a particular position.
If you hold the ordinary card matching a slot currently occupied by a Joker, you can steal that Joker from the board. This action earns no points and ends your turn, according to the published tournament rules.
A Joker can take an otherwise useful empty slot, but if another player holds its matching numbered card, they can replace that Joker and take it. The stealing move ends their turn without scoring.
How trading and discarding cards works
If you have a playable card, you must play one, or spend 2 points to trade a card for a new card from the dealer. You can make that trade once per turn. If the replacement can be played, you may play it immediately.
If the new card isn’t playable and you have no other playable cards, your turn ends. If you begin with no playable cards at all, you can discard your entire hand and take new cards, but that sacrifices your turn.
You cannot discard your whole hand while holding a playable card. This is the restriction that stops players from resetting a poor hand whenever they dislike the available scoring opportunity.
Are these the final Warframe Portau Card Game rules?
These 2/4/7-point rules, Jokers and discards apply to the October 31 tournament. Digital Extremes explicitly says the published rule set is tuned for the livestream and may change when the card game becomes playable in the Tau update.
The Warframe Portau Card Game guide therefore explains a real, published preview rather than promising that 2/4/7 scoring will be identical in the full release. The permanent in-game walkthrough should be built after the playable rules are confirmed.
When can you watch Portau and earn Twitch Drops?
The tournament livestream begins Saturday, October 31 at 4 PM GMT in the UK on Warframe’s official Twitch channel. Watching for 30 minutes earns one reward from the event’s ten-item Drop pool, provided you link and claim correctly.
For the full eligible reward pool and exact UK time, see our October 31 Twitch Drops guide. You can watch without knowing the rules or playing Portau yourself.
For the Warframe Portau Card Game livestream, remember the scoring order: two points outside a pair, four points between unequal gaps and seven points between equal gaps. A card trade costs two points, and a full-hand redraw costs your turn.
