Rayman Legends Retold local co-op supports up to four players on one system. Ubisoft confirms the whole campaign is playable in couch co-op, including the new adventure launching on 3 December 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 and PC. You don’t need a special multiplayer edition to play together.

The game also brings back Kung Foot Evo, its football-style competitive mode with power-ups and custom rules. If you’re setting up a family session, here’s what equipment you need, which game modes you can share and which accessibility options are available.

How to set up Rayman Legends Retold local co-op

To prepare Rayman Legends Retold local co-op, connect the controllers before starting a session. Ubisoft confirms the full adventure supports up to four people on one machine. All players share the same game and screen, so you don’t need four separate copies.

On PS5, pair additional DualSense controllers and choose user or guest profiles when prompted. On Xbox, pair the extra controllers and profiles before starting. For Switch 2, connect the supported controllers to the console. PC players can configure gamepads or keyboard-and-mouse devices, both of which Ubisoft confirms as supported input methods.

For Rayman Legends Retold local co-op, begin by pairing and assigning the additional controllers through your console’s usual controller settings. On PC, use the game’s input options to configure gamepads or keyboard-and-mouse controls. Ubisoft confirms full input remapping for supported devices.

Can you finish the campaign with four players?

The Rayman Legends Retold local co-op adventure includes returning stages, a sixth realm, four new musical levels and dragon rides. Work together to rescue Teensies and gather Lums as Rayman, Globox and their friends travel through the Glade of Dreams.

Playing together doesn’t require everyone to buy Deluxe. The £34.99 Standard Edition includes the full game and Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition. The £44.99 Deluxe Edition adds the Retro Pack and gallery, not extra co-op slots. Our release date and price guide compares both editions.

Kung Foot Evo and competitive multiplayer

Kung Foot Evo is the separate football-inspired multiplayer mode. Ubisoft confirms revised controls, power-ups and adjustable rules. You can play the adventure cooperatively or switch to Kung Foot when you want to compete.

For less experienced players, Rayman Legends Retold local co-op works alongside Ubisoft’s updated accessibility options. Default Health follows the original Rayman Legends rules, a Red Heart protects against one eligible hit, and a Golden Heart protects against two. Hearts don’t stop falls into pits or certain instant hazards.

Health options and Fairy Blessing in co-op

Fairy Blessing lets a player fly, avoid damage and revive floating teammates in supported stages. Enable it in Settings or through Betilla, then use L2, LT or ZL by default. It’s unavailable in Kung Foot Evo and Cave of Trials. Our Fairy Blessing guide explains the options.

You’ll also find controller remapping, input hold/toggle options and visual highlights. Ubisoft has moved Victor Velour’s costume shop to make browsing outfits easier for a couch co-op group. The costumes guide lists the confirmed outfits, including PS5’s free Astro Bot look.

Is Rayman Legends Retold online co-op?

The confirmed story mode is local couch co-op. On PS5, Remote Play allows streaming from the console to a compatible device, but a Remote Play badge is not the same as native online co-op matchmaking. For multiplayer with friends in the same room, four-player local play is supported.

The Rayman Legends Retold local co-op player limit is the same whether you buy Standard or Deluxe. For prices see our edition guide; for the added musical stages, see the rhythm-level guide.
