2XKO Matchmaking changed with patch 1.3.3, and the button you use to join a Casual match now makes a difference. Since patch 1.3.3, the Find Match button prioritises getting you into a game quickly, while entering the queue at a cab through Training Mode prioritises finding opponents closer to your skill level.

Both options use the same Casual player pool. Ranked is still disabled. With 2XKO Matchmaking, you’re choosing whether the game looks harder for an even matchup or gets you into a fight sooner, not switching to a different playlist.

Use Find Match when you just want to get into a game quickly. That’s the speed-first option in 2XKO Matchmaking. Riot has tuned that method to emphasise faster matchmaking above all else. If you’ve only got time for a couple of games, the speed-first 2XKO Matchmaking option may suit you better than waiting for a closer skill match.

For a fairer matchup, sit down at a lobby cab and enter the queue through Training Mode. Riot says this choice puts more weight on fairness, matching you with an opponent whose rating is closer to yours whenever possible. It does not promise identical skill, and waits can vary with the number of players online.

These are not two separate queues, even though they feel different. Riot has explained that everyone remains in the same matchmaking pool. Only the weight given to speed and skill similarity changes with the way you joined.

Which 2XKO queue should you use?

Choose Find Match if you are testing a new champion, want a quick few games or are playing at a quiet time. If you would rather wait for a more competitive opponent around your own level, use a cab’s Training Mode queue. That way you can spend the wait practising buttons and still tell the system to favour a closer contest.

Neither entry method is automatically better. With 2XKO Matchmaking, pick whichever fits what you want from that session. A newer player may prefer closer matches while learning defence and short combos, but may choose the speed queue when they simply want more chances to practise against human opponents.

If you’re watching your LP, you may prefer a cab because it places more weight on finding a similarly rated opponent. But don’t expect the cab itself to boost your points: LP still changes based on who you beat or lose to.

Does 2XKO Matchmaking still use skill rating?

Yes. The October patch introduced Leaderboard Points (LP) in the Casual lobby and says that LP is used to match players against others with similar ratings. Winning against a higher-rated opponent gives more LP than beating a lower-rated one; losing to a weaker opponent costs more.

You need 2,900 LP to qualify for your current lobby’s leaderboard. The game does not display LP changes on the post-match screen, but your Profile shows your rank and the lobby leaderboard refreshes almost immediately after a match.

The rating system applies to 2XKO Matchmaking whichever way you join. A faster Find Match queue can still place you against someone close to your level. The difference is what the system optimises first when deciding whom you meet.

Is 2XKO Ranked mode back?

No. Riot disabled Ranked lobbies when it consolidated multiplayer into one Casual pool. Patch 1.3.3’s leaderboard gives players a measure of competitive progress, but it is not a restoration of the old Ranked mode or a new ranked placement system.

Private matches remain a separate way to play with a chosen group. If you are arranging practice with someone at a particular skill level, a Private lobby is more direct than expecting any public queue to find that person.

Why 2XKO Matchmaking can be slower at a cab

Cab queues put closer skill matches first, so they can take longer. That doesn’t automatically mean there’s a problem with the cab. Conversely, the speed-first Find Match button might create a match with a wider rating gap, particularly when player numbers are low.

If you’re tired of waiting, return to the lobby and try Find Match. Check your connection before assuming the queue is at fault. Riot has not given a fixed maximum waiting time, so do not expect every cab match to arrive after a particular number of seconds.

Training settings and offline input delay in patch 1.3.3

The October patch also made a few useful Training changes alongside the 2XKO Matchmaking update. Starting online Training now loads your latest offline Training settings. Riot also added an Input Delay option under Settings > Gameplay > Input, but it only affects offline modes.

Riot recommends leaving the default at three frames when using PC Offline mode. That option does not make online matches lag-free or change the server’s matchmaking rules. It is there to help your offline practice feel closer to the input timing you expect.

Use Find Match when you want speed, or a Training Mode cab when you’d rather wait for someone closer to your rating. Either way, you’re playing against the same Casual community.
