2XKO The Climb Offline became playable with patch 1.3.3 on 27 October 2026. You can fight CPU opponents, choose powerful augments and try new champions without joining an online lobby. There is a catch: offline runs do not advance the quests that unlock champion chromas or avatar items.
If you’re missing a reward after finishing a run, that restriction is probably why. Here’s how to launch 2XKO The Climb Offline on PC, what happens during a run and which objectives still require an online session.
How to start 2XKO The Climb Offline on PC

On PC, start 2XKO The Climb Offline with the separate OfflineLauncher.exe in the game’s installation folder. Riot’s support guide says you must have signed into the online game at least once on that computer. The executable normally installs in the Riot Games directory; File Explorer search for *OfflineLauncher.exe (including the asterisk) can locate it.
Double-click the file, then choose The Climb in Offline mode once patch 1.3.3 is installed. You may need to choose Unblock from the file’s Properties if Windows prevents it from opening. Do not try launching through the normal Riot Client while disconnected: Riot specifically says that method will not open Offline mode.
Those file-path instructions are specifically for PC. Riot’s support page doesn’t provide equivalent PlayStation or Xbox steps, so console players should use their own game’s available menu options. If a mode is missing, first confirm that patch 1.3.3 has installed.
What happens during 2XKO The Climb Offline
In 2XKO The Climb Offline, you pick a team and a Fuse, then face increasingly tough CPU duos in single-round matches. After each victory you choose a path through nodes that can contain more opponents, upgrades, campfires or a stronger mid-boss. Lose a battle and the current run is over.
Augments are the big draw. After certain fights, the game offers a random choice of upgrades that can reshape your team’s attacks, defence, meter gain or tag interactions. You keep those bonuses for the current run, and combinations can be far stronger than any single choice.

Health, Break and Super meter carry forward between encounters. Campfire nodes let you heal and manage your build, which matters because a rough early fight can leave you weakened for the next opponent. Eventually you reach a final boss with powerful augments of its own.
The Climb has no checkpoints. Riot’s support page also explains that interrupted attempts can lose their progress because results are registered at the end of the run. Don’t assume you’ll return to the same node if you quit halfway through.
Why 2XKO The Climb Offline does not unlock chromas
Here’s why a finished run might not give you the reward you expected: 2XKO The Climb Offline does not progress quests for chromas or avatar items. Riot confirms this explicitly in the October patch notes. Winning the final fight is not the same as meeting an online quest’s requirements.
The online mission list includes repeated clears on certain difficulties, using particular Fuses, collecting augment categories and score challenges. If your goal is a sticker, avatar piece or champion colour, open the game’s online quest list and complete the specific objective during an eligible online session.
No official method has been announced to convert an offline clear into quest credit later. A successful offline run without a chroma reward is therefore expected behaviour, not necessarily a bug. Use the new offline option for practice, then switch back online for the actual unlock.
Samira, Sett and new Tales chapters
Patch 1.3.3 also adds Samira and Sett content to 2XKO The Climb Offline. Select either champion to explore their new Tales of 2XKO dialogue chapters, and look out for champion-specific augments shaped around their individual moves. Both characters are free for all players from October 27.
Sett brings chainable grabs and heavy punches, while Samira rewards varying her specials to build Style. The random augment choices can give both very different builds from run to run. Try a few routes before deciding which options suit your playstyle best.
Difficulties, Ascension and offline play with friends
2XKO The Climb Offline includes the familiar Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced difficulties. September’s patch added Expert, Pro and Ascension, which lets you continue after the usual final boss while selecting additional debuffs. Those harder options provide plenty to work on once the basic route starts feeling easy.
The mode supports solo and duo play online, and the separate PC offline mode also supports Local Duo in other activities. The October 1.3.3 notes do not spell out every possible local Climb co-op combination, so check the actual offline selection before planning a two-player session around it.
Play 2XKO The Climb Offline when you want to experiment with augments or practise tougher encounters. Switch online if earning a chroma or avatar reward is your goal.
