Pokémon GO Festival of Lights Pikachu outside India cannot be caught through the event’s local wild spawns or Timed Research while you’re playing abroad. The Festival of Lights runs exclusively in India from November 6 to 8, 2026. However, owning a regional costume later is different from participating in the local event.
You may be able to obtain Saree or Kurta Pikachu through an eligible trade, and some remote raid invitations can work across borders under the game’s general rules. Neither option turns on India’s festival bonuses in another country.

Can you catch Pokémon GO Festival of Lights Pikachu outside India?
The festival runs in India from November 6 at 10:00 a.m. until November 8 at 8:00 p.m. IST. The local raid pool features both costumes, and Sparkle O’Clock increases their wild appearances at 6:00, 6:30, 7:00 and 7:30 p.m. for five minutes each evening.

The India-only announcement includes local Timed Research, Collection Challenges and event bonuses. Players in the UK, United States and elsewhere should not expect those features on their local maps.
How to trade Pokémon GO Festival of Lights Pikachu outside India
In-person trades are allowed when both Trainers meet and the Pokémon is eligible. Costumed or Shiny Pokémon may qualify as Special Trades, with the Stardust cost shown before you confirm. A friend who caught one in India can keep it and arrange a trade afterward.
Pokémon GO also offers Remote Trading to Forever Friends. That friendship level requires 180 friendship points. Remote Trades can be earned with further friendship progress, but only one Remote Trade can be completed each day. The newly caught Pokémon must be at least 30 days old, and a Pokémon already traded once cannot be traded again.
That waiting period matters: a Pikachu caught during the November event cannot immediately be traded remotely. Check the Pokémon’s catch date and your available trade before arranging anything.
Can remote raids provide Pokémon GO Festival of Lights Pikachu outside India?
Eligible raids can normally be joined with a Remote Raid Pass through a friend’s invitation. The festival announcement confirms costumes in India’s raids, but does not promise a special worldwide remote access rule. Check whether an actual invitation is available and whether the game lets you join before spending a pass.
A remote raid invitation does not unlock the regional wild spawn windows, research branch or collection challenges on your own map. Those remain tied to India.
Can Pokémon GO Festival of Lights Pikachu outside India have a Special Background?
Yes. Raid and Sparkle O’Clock costumes may have a Special Background or be Shiny if you are lucky. For eligible Trainers in India, the selected Timed Research branch awards that costume with an advertised Special Background. A costume alone does not guarantee the collectible artwork.

If you plan to trade, ask to check the exact Pokémon’s background before confirming. The saree and kurta outfits are distinct, and the Special Background is a separate cosmetic feature.
Can you get Pokémon GO Festival of Lights Pikachu outside India after November 8?
The 2026 event ends November 8 at 8:00 p.m. IST. Costumes already caught can remain in collections after the event, and eligible trading can happen later. Niantic has not announced another festival rerun or a guaranteed future costume release.
For collectors outside India, the realistic options are an eligible trade, a remote raid invitation when supported, or a future rerun. None is a way to activate the local event itself.
