How to Get Costume Raichu in Pokémon GO
Most costume Raichu cannot normally be caught directly. Instead, they are obtained by evolving the matching costumed Pikachu while that costume is eligible to evolve.
To evolve a costume Pikachu into Raichu:
- Open your Pokémon storage.
- Select the costumed Pikachu you want to evolve.
- Check that an Evolve button appears.
- Use 50 Pikachu Candy to complete the evolution.
- Add the resulting Raichu to your tracker.
Always check the evolution preview before confirming. Not every costume Pikachu can evolve, and Pokémon GO has released many Pikachu costumes without matching Raichu forms.
When evolution is available, the preview should show Raichu wearing the corresponding costume. The evolved Raichu will retain the costume worn by Pikachu.
Can Costume Raichu Be Shiny?
Many costumed Raichu can be shiny, although you will usually need to obtain a shiny version of the matching Pikachu first and then evolve it.
Shiny costume Pokémon are generally much rarer than their standard counterparts because the correct costume must be available during an event and the Pokémon must also appear as shiny. Older forms may only return occasionally, making some shiny costume Raichu particularly desirable among collectors.

Can Every Costume Pikachu Evolve Into Raichu?
No. A large number of costumed Pikachu cannot evolve into Raichu.
Pokémon GO treats every costume separately, meaning evolution may be enabled for one event Pikachu but unavailable for another. Owning a particular costume Pikachu therefore does not guarantee that a matching costume Raichu exists.
Older costumes were more likely to include the complete Pichu, Pikachu and Raichu evolutionary family. Many newer costume Pikachu are standalone designs and cannot be evolved at all.
The safest approach is to look for the Evolve button on the individual Pikachu. When no evolution option is displayed, that costume cannot currently become Raichu.

Can Costume Raichu Be Traded?
Costumed Raichu can be traded with another Pokémon GO player. Trading is often the most realistic way to fill gaps involving costumes that have not appeared for several years.
A trade involving a costume you have never registered may count as a Special Trade. The Stardust cost will depend on your friendship level, whether the form is already registered and whether the Pokémon is shiny.
Event Pokémon cannot usually be transferred to Pokémon HOME, so avoid evolving or trading a rare costume until you are certain you want it in your Pokémon GO collection.
What Is the Rarest Costume Raichu?
The rarest costume Raichu will vary between collections. Older regional appearances, costumes with limited availability and shiny versions that have not returned recently are generally the hardest to obtain.
Availability also depends on when someone started playing. A long-term player may already own early holiday costumes but be missing a regional or ticketed event form. A newer player may need nearly every Raichu released before their account was created.
