Pokémon GO Dancing in the Moonlight is a limited regional event built around brief Moonlight O’Clock spawn windows, Clefairy with a Special Background and consecutive Timed Research. Because the special spawn periods last only five minutes at a time, knowing the schedule matters far more here than during a normal all-day event.

The event is running in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia, with several linked mechanics that are easy to miss if you only check the Today View. This guide brings together the live research, Moonlight O’Clock times, Clefairy rewards and the event deadline so you can jump into the specific guide you need.

The official event now runs September 23 at 10:00 a.m. through September 28 at 11:59 p.m. local time in the seven supported Asian markets.

The 2× Catch XP bonus remains active during the event.

Completing the first research gives a Clefairy encounter, 2,026 XP and 2,026 Stardust. The official event also describes a Special Background Clefairy among the first-research rewards.

Second consecutive research

The first Timed Research must be completed before the second becomes available. Pokémon GO says the second includes a Special Background Clefairy and encounters with Teddiursa, Skitty or Bunnelby.

The second research must be completed and claimed within three days of receiving it. A full live second task list has not yet been published by the sources checked for this update.

Moonlight O’Clock times

Clefairy, Jigglypuff, Teddiursa, Skitty, Munna and Bunnelby can surge for five minutes at 12:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. local time.

Clefairy with the event Special Background can appear in these windows.

Shiny availability

All six Moonlight O’Clock species are marked Shiny eligible. No numerical event Shiny rate is published.

A Special Background and a Shiny state are separate properties, so a background Clefairy is not automatically Shiny.

Who can participate

The event is regional. Accounts outside Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia should not expect the local research and scheduled spawn bursts.

Players travelling into an eligible region should use the local clock for every Moonlight O’Clock window.

What to prioritise before Dancing in the Moonlight ends

Pokémon GO Dancing in the Moonlight has several time-sensitive pieces running together, so the research should come first. Check the Moonlit Path progress before spending the evening only catching event spawns, especially if a stage requires activity across more than one day.

The short Moonlight O’Clock windows are the other part that cannot simply be made up later. During Pokémon GO Dancing in the Moonlight, set aside those scheduled windows if you want concentrated Clefairy checks rather than relying only on ordinary event spawns.

Collectors chasing the Special Background should keep the research reward separate from normal Clefairy encounters. Pokémon GO Dancing in the Moonlight offers several ways to catch Clefairy, but they do not all carry the same background eligibility.

Before the final deadline, claim completed research rewards rather than leaving them sitting in Today View. That is the safest way to finish Pokémon GO Dancing in the Moonlight without losing an encounter or completion reward after the event closes.
