Xbox Mythic vs PlayStation Platinum compares two ways of recognising a fully completed game’s original objectives. Xbox gives a game Mythic status when you’ve unlocked every original achievement, while PlayStation awards a Platinum trophy for completing the required trophy set in a game that includes a Platinum.
Xbox introduced Mythic in its public October 2026 update, but the idea is familiar to PlayStation players. Both systems recognise more than finishing a campaign. There are important differences in which games qualify, how older completions are displayed and what happens when developers add new achievements or trophies.
Xbox Mythic vs PlayStation Platinum: the main differences
| Feature | Xbox Mythic | PlayStation Platinum |
|---|---|---|
| How earned | Unlock every original achievement in an eligible game | Earn all trophies required for the Platinum in a game with one |
| DLC or added rewards | Not required for original-list Mythic | Separate DLC trophy lists normally do not block the base game’s Platinum |
| Available on every game? | Depends on an eligible original achievement list | No, some PlayStation games have no Platinum |
| Older games | Previously completed eligible games, including Xbox 360 | Older Platinum trophies remain tied to their PlayStation trophy history |
| Profile display | Mythic frame, total in Gaming tab | Platinum trophy count and trophy history |
| Extra Xbox Gamerscore | No additional award for Mythic status | PlayStation uses separate trophy levels, not Gamerscore |
In Xbox Mythic vs PlayStation Platinum, neither the number of points you’ve earned nor the hours spent playing automatically completes a game. Xbox checks its original achievement list. PlayStation checks the trophies that count towards that game’s Platinum, if it has one.

Do DLC achievements or trophies count for Xbox Mythic vs PlayStation Platinum?
On Xbox, the answer is straightforward: Mythic requires the original achievements only. Achievements introduced through an expansion or post-launch update are classified as additions. You can still earn Mythic even with those extra achievements locked, and a later addition doesn’t take away an already-earned Mythic.
PlayStation commonly separates the base game’s trophy group from DLC trophy groups. The base game’s Platinum is earned from the trophies required by that Platinum, not every future DLC trophy. Be careful with the game’s own trophy description, though: Platinum exists only when the developer’s trophy set includes it.
The key to Xbox Mythic vs PlayStation Platinum is the required base list. Finishing every later DLC achievement or trophy isn’t necessary for those completion awards. Our Mythic unlock guide explains how Xbox shows add-on achievements separately.
Can you earn Mythic for Xbox 360 games?
Yes. Microsoft’s October update awards Mythic retrospectively for eligible Xbox 360 games you’ve already completed. You don’t need to launch an old Xbox 360 game again or repeat its original achievements. The system recognises completions recorded on your Xbox profile.
PlayStation trophy records likewise remain associated with the PSN account that earned them, but the generations and supported trophy systems differ. Microsoft specifically includes eligible Xbox 360 completions in the retrospective Mythic rollout. A game without an achievement list has no original achievement set to finish.

Xbox Mythic vs PlayStation Platinum: points and trophy levels
Mythic is a recognition of completing a game’s original Xbox achievements. It doesn’t issue another copy of the Gamerscore those achievements already awarded. Total Gamerscore has its own separate milestone badges that change as your lifetime score grows.
PlayStation awards a Platinum trophy in the game’s trophy collection, contributing to the player’s PlayStation trophy total and level progression. Xbox doesn’t translate that Platinum grade into Gamerscore. Xbox Mythic vs PlayStation Platinum marks a similar accomplishment, but the surrounding profile points and trophy levels work differently.
Where to view Xbox Mythic vs PlayStation Platinum completion records
On Xbox, open your profile’s Gaming tab. It includes the Mythic total, completed games and achievement history. Games with Mythic have a distinctive frame, and the original-achievement progress bar shows what you still need. Your friends’ Gaming tabs also display their completed games.
On PlayStation, open the game’s Trophies collection in your profile or the console trophy area to see whether it has a Platinum and which trophies count. If the game doesn’t offer a Platinum trophy, completing every available trophy won’t create one. Microsoft’s Xbox Mythic vs PlayStation Platinum update doesn’t alter PlayStation’s trophy rules.
For older Xbox completions missing a Mythic frame, confirm your October console update and the gamertag that earned the original achievements. Our completed-games guide walks through the Gaming tab without needing a second playthrough.
