Xbox Mythic Achievements are awarded when you complete every original achievement in an eligible game. You don’t have to finish achievements added later through DLC or updates. Once earned, Mythic status is permanent, even if the developer later expands the achievement list.

Microsoft added this feature to the public Xbox October 2026 console update on 28 October. Eligible games you finished before the update can receive Mythic automatically, including Xbox 360 completions. You can see your total on the Gaming tab of your Xbox profile, alongside achievement history and Gamerscore milestones.

How to unlock Xbox Mythic Achievements

  1. Choose a game with an eligible original achievement list.
  2. Open its achievement list from your Xbox profile or the Xbox Guide.
  3. Look at the Mythic progress bar above the achievement list.
  4. Use the option to focus on original achievements you haven’t unlocked.
  5. Complete the remaining original achievements. Xbox awards the game’s Mythic status when the last required achievement unlocks.
  6. Return to your profile’s Gaming tab to view it among completed games.

Xbox Mythic Achievements reward finishing the original achievement list. You don’t earn one just for finishing a story or reaching a lifetime Gamerscore target. Achievements added after launch are marked as add-ons, so you can work out what remains without mistakenly grinding unrelated DLC content.

Do DLC achievements count towards Xbox Mythic Achievements?

No. Microsoft separates the game’s original achievement list from achievements introduced later through DLC or post-launch updates. You only need the original set to reach Mythic. A game may still show unfinished add-on achievements or less than 100% in an overall list while its Mythic requirements are complete.

If you earned Mythic and a developer later publishes more achievements, your status stays earned. There’s no need to return and complete those additions to keep the badge. For Xbox Mythic Achievements, use the original-achievement filter to see exactly what’s left; the combined list can include DLC you don’t need.

Do old Xbox 360 completions count?

Yes. Microsoft says eligible Xbox 360 games you’ve previously completed are included in the retrospective award. You do not need to start the game again or replay its achievements simply because Mythic was introduced in 2026. Check the Gaming tab while signed in with the Xbox account that originally unlocked them.

Earlier completed Xbox games can also receive Mythic automatically when their original requirements were met. You may find new Mythic frames on games you haven’t launched in years. It recognises the original completion without awarding those Gamerscore points a second time.

Where to find Xbox Mythic Achievements on your profile

Open your Xbox profile and select the Gaming tab. It displays your total Mythic Achievements, achievement history, completed games and progress towards the next Gamerscore milestone. Games with Mythic stand out with a distinctive frame in their history. You can open a friend’s Gaming tab to see completed games and Mythic achievements they have earned.

Within an individual game’s achievement page, look above the list for the Mythic progress bar. Its original-achievement view makes it easier to identify missing tasks, while add-on achievements are marked separately. Similar progress information appears in Xbox Guide and achievement details. See our Mythic not showing guide if your own result has not appeared.

Are Xbox Mythic Achievements the same as Gamerscore badges?

No. A Mythic marks the completion of a particular game’s original achievements. A Gamerscore milestone badge celebrates your total accumulated Gamerscore across games. They appear in related areas of your Gaming profile, but one does not replace the other. The public release also allows up to five badges to be featured on your profile card.

The Xbox Mythic Achievements update doesn’t give another 1,000 Gamerscore just for receiving a Mythic. The underlying achievements already awarded their ordinary Gamerscore when you unlocked them. Mythic is a new recognition layer for completing a game’s original list.

When did Mythic become public?

The feature started in Xbox Insider previews on 29 September 2026 and joined the public 28 October Xbox console update, OS 10.0.26100.9647. Check Settings, System, Console info to confirm your release and use Settings, System, Updates if an update is pending. Our October update guide covers the other changes in that release.
