Xbox Series X25 Halo Campaign Evolved is included as a full digital game with Microsoft’s £759.99 limited-edition anniversary console. You are not getting a Halo disc or a short Game Pass trial. Every Series X25 collection includes the remake of the original Halo campaign, according to Xbox.
It is easy to assume the game comes on a disc because the X25 has a disc drive. It does not. The console can play compatible physical Xbox games, but its included Halo copy must be claimed and downloaded digitally. Here is what that means for ownership, Game Pass and playing with friends.
Xbox Series X25 Halo Campaign Evolved: is the full game included?
Yes. In its 26 August announcement, Xbox said every Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition console includes a full-game download of Halo: Campaign Evolved. It is the modern remake of Halo: Combat Evolved, not The Master Chief Collection. The standalone game was released on 28 July 2026, ahead of the console’s 13 November launch.
The Xbox Series X25 Halo Campaign Evolved bundle includes the game itself, which features the rebuilt original campaign and three additional Operation: Meteorite missions with Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson. Microsoft has not said the console bundle includes the separate Premium Edition’s extra skins, digital artbook or short story.
Does it come on a physical Halo disc?
No. Xbox describes the included copy as a full-game download. The X25 console still has a 4K UHD Blu-ray drive for other compatible physical Xbox games, but that does not change how this particular Halo entitlement is supplied.
The Xbox Series X25 Halo Campaign Evolved inclusion is also different from buying the £74.99 X25 Special Edition wireless controller separately. The controller is sold on its own and does not include Halo. A regular Carbon Black Series X is not automatically sold with the anniversary game’s download either.
Do you need Game Pass to play the included Halo game?
No subscription is needed to own and play the included single-player campaign. Xbox advertises a full-game copy with the console, not temporary access through Game Pass. Once it has been properly claimed, it is a digital game entitlement under the normal Xbox account and licensing terms.
There is one exception to know about if you plan to play with friends online. Halo: Campaign Evolved supports two-player local split-screen on console and up to four-player online co-op. Microsoft’s UK game listing says console online multiplayer requires Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate, sold separately.
That means X25 owners can play the story solo without buying Game Pass, but online console co-op carries a separate subscription requirement. This does not make the included game a trial, and local split-screen is not the same as online multiplayer.
How do you redeem the Halo download?
This is the one detail Xbox has not explained in its X25 announcement. It confirms that the full game comes with the console but does not say whether buyers receive a printed code, an on-console claim or another entitlement method.
For Xbox Series X25 Halo Campaign Evolved, use the official instructions supplied with your console when it arrives. You should have a Microsoft account, internet access and available SSD space ready for the digital game. Do not rely on instructions that claim a code will be in a particular part of the packaging without confirmation.
An account entitlement is different from owning a physical disc you can pass around. Check Microsoft’s terms and the specific redemption instructions before claiming the game on someone else’s account. The Xbox announcement also does not provide a reliable installed game size for this console bundle.

Is Halo included only if you preordered X25?
No. The August Xbox announcement says every X25 Limited Edition console includes the full game, rather than describing it as an early preorder reward. That statement applies to the console collection, not to standalone controllers or unrelated Xbox bundles.
The Xbox Series X25 Halo Campaign Evolved package arrives with the console on 13 November. Microsoft’s UK store listed it at £759.99 and showed out of stock on 1 November. If you find stock elsewhere, check that the seller is offering the complete console collection and that the digital game is named in the bundle contents.
In short, Xbox Series X25 Halo Campaign Evolved is a complete digital game included with the anniversary console. You do not have to buy Halo again to play the solo campaign, but online console co-op needs the appropriate Game Pass tier.
