Bramblin debuts during Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek from October 13–19, 2026. It’s the first chance to catch one and start the walk towards Brambleghast. The game uses a different method from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, so here’s how to get the Candy, count your Buddy distance and finally use the Evolve button.

The Fall Marathon event offers several ways to catch Bramblin, so you can gather Candy while walking with your chosen one. The 20 km doesn’t have to be completed in one outing, and the Buddy evolution requirement doesn’t expire when Fall Marathon ends.
Do you need to walk Bramblin as your Buddy?
Yes, you must walk 20 km with Bramblin as your Buddy. Serebii, Leek Duck and Pokémon GO Hub list this as an evolution requirement alongside the 50 Candy cost. If you’ve collected 50 Candy but still can’t evolve Bramblin into Brambleghast, check the walking task first.
Bramblin evolves differently in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, where you walk 1,000 steps with it outside its Poké Ball and then level it up. In Pokémon GO, those 1,000 steps aren’t the requirement. The game asks for a 20 km Buddy walk, so keep Bramblin selected as your Buddy and check the distance shown on its evolution task.
How to farm 50 Bramblin Candy
To evolve Bramblin into Brambleghast faster, use the October 13–19 event to build up your 50 Candy. Bramblin is available through ordinary Incense, event-themed Field Research and GO Pass tasks, rather than the event’s announced standard wild-spawn pool.
Use Pinap Berries when catching Bramblin to earn more Candy, and transfer extra catches once you’ve decided which Bramblin to keep. Rare Candy can also fill a shortfall. The event’s GO Pass Rank 10 bonus increases regular Incense duration to two hours, giving you more time to look for Bramblin encounters.

Can you finish Bramblin’s Buddy walk after the event?
Yes. You can evolve Bramblin into Brambleghast after October 19. The event ends at 8 p.m. local time, but the evolution requirement is attached to Bramblin, not to a timed research task. You can keep the same Bramblin as your Buddy and finish your remaining 20 km later.
Bramblin also earns Buddy Candy at a base distance of 5 km per Candy. That’s different from the 20 km evolution task, although the walking can help you towards both goals. Check Bramblin’s evolution progress rather than assuming four Candy drops automatically mean the evolution is ready.
Can you catch Brambleghast directly?
The official event announcement lists Bramblin encounters, not direct Brambleghast encounters. If you want to register Brambleghast during debut week, catch a Bramblin and evolve Bramblin into Brambleghast using the Candy and Buddy walk.
