ESO Thrassian Stranglers are a five-fragment Mythic that sends you through several different lead sources. Before you can use the gloves, you’ll need to collect each clue, complete its Scrying puzzle and recover the buried fragment.
The Antiquities system is scheduled to become part of ESO’s base game on October 19, 2026, but some Thrassian Stranglers leads still depend on access to Summerset and Psijic activity. Make sure you can reach those locations before starting.
ESO Thrassian Stranglers: all 5 leads and locations
| Fragment / lead | Zone | Exact lead source |
|---|---|---|
| Buoyant Steel | Stros M’Kai | Fish in Saltwater fishing holes |
| Coral Plating | Artaeum | Fish in Mystic fishing holes |
| Inert Anemone Inlay | Auridon | Defeat world bosses |
| Nautilus Shell Guards | Summerset / Karnwasten | Defeat bosses in the Karnwasten public dungeon |
| Sticky Integument Leather | Summerset and Artaeum | Open Psijic Portals; the excavation entry is associated with Eyevea |
Collecting a lead only unlocks the search for that part. Check Journal → Antiquities, scry the lead and excavate it successfully. Repeat for all five unique components; duplicate leads can’t stand in for missing pieces.

How to collect and excavate every fragment
- Complete the Antiquarian Circle introduction in Solitude to unlock Scrying and Excavation.
- Raise Scrying to at least level 7 and unlock Antiquarian Insight IV for master-quality Mythic leads.
- Travel to one of the exact lead sources in the table and complete the listed activity until the lead is obtained.
- Open Journal → Antiquities, select the lead, and complete the scrying puzzle.
- Go to the highlighted search area and use the Antiquarian’s Eye to find the dig mound, then excavate the fragment.
- Repeat for every other distinct lead. Once all fragments are excavated, the item or mount is assembled.
Check which fragments you’ve already finished before retracing your route. The Journal makes it easier to see whether you’re missing a lead drop or still need to complete an excavation for one you’ve collected.

Thrassian Stranglers zone and Psijic requirements
The Summerset chapter area, including Artaeum and Karnwasten, and Psijic Portal access are significant restrictions. Antiquities becoming free does not unlock the Psijic Order skill line or its portals for everyone.
The five Thrassian Stranglers leads include fishing in Stros M’Kai and Artaeum, world bosses in Auridon, Karnwasten bosses in Summerset, and a Psijic Portal in Summerset. The Sticky Integument Leather dig site is in Eyevea, so you must also be able to enter that zone.
Hardest leads and farming advice
Psijic Portals require the appropriate Psijic access and skill progression. If you cannot see the portal sources, check that before farming Sticky Integument Leather. The listed lead is often misspelled ‘Bouyant Steel’ in older guides; look for Buoyant Steel in current lists.
Psijic Portals appear only after progressing the Psijic Order skill line. If you’re farming Sticky Integument Leather and can’t find portals, unlock that system first. Buoyant Steel comes from saltwater fishing in Stros M’Kai, not from enemies.
Why a lead isn’t dropping or cannot be scryed
If a Thrassian Stranglers lead isn’t dropping, make sure the activity matches the specific fragment rather than farming whatever is nearby. For Psijic Portal leads, confirm you have the required access. For leads already in your Journal, check Scrying rarity requirements before trying to acquire them again.
How to equip Thrassian Stranglers
Once you’ve excavated all five fragments, Thrassian Stranglers assembles automatically as Mythic gloves. Equip it from your inventory, keeping in mind you can only wear one Mythic at a time. Its Sload’s Call stacks give extra offensive power at the cost of health and shield effectiveness.
If Thrassian Stranglers hasn’t assembled, check whether Sticky Integument Leather was actually excavated in Eyevea. Opening a Psijic Portal can give you that lead, but the gloves only assemble after all five different fragments have been recovered.
