ESO Ring of the Pale Order: All Five Lead Locations

ESO Ring of the Pale Order is made from five Antiquities fragments, each with its own lead source and dig location. You’ll have to recover every piece before the ring is assembled, so it’s worth following the individual lead list instead of trying to farm all five in one place.

Greymoor and Antiquities are scheduled to become part of the ESO base game on October 19, 2026. The Pale Order leads still involve other locations, including Wrothgar and The Reach, so you’ll need access to those zones as well.

ESO Ring of the Pale Order: all 5 leads and locations

Fragment / lead Zone Exact lead source
Aurmine Ancestral Signet Bangkorai Open treasure chests around the zone
Direnni Elegy Loop Alik’r Desert Defeat the Coldrock Diggings delve boss, Feremuzh
Onyx Accent Stones Wrothgar Defeat Wrothgar world bosses
Order-Etched Gallery Rail Glenumbra Defeat ordinary enemies in Bad Man’s Hallows public dungeon
Pale Order’s Golden Band The Reach / Blackreach: Arkthzand Cavern Read the Ancient Text on a table in Nighthollow Keep; long respawn

When you find a lead, open Journal → Antiquities and complete its Scrying puzzle, then travel to the marked excavation area and uncover the fragment. A dropped lead isn’t the same as a finished collection piece.

How to collect and excavate every fragment

  1. Complete the Antiquarian Circle introduction in Solitude to unlock Scrying and Excavation.
  2. Raise Scrying to at least level 7 and unlock Antiquarian Insight IV for master-quality Mythic leads.
  3. Travel to one of the exact lead sources in the table and complete the listed activity until the lead is obtained.
  4. Open Journal → Antiquities, select the lead, and complete the scrying puzzle.
  5. Go to the highlighted search area and use the Antiquarian’s Eye to find the dig mound, then excavate the fragment.
  6. Repeat for every other distinct lead. Once all fragments are excavated, the item or mount is assembled.

The best way to keep this hunt organised is to check off each successfully excavated fragment. You can see the progress in the Antiquities Journal, which also helps distinguish a missing lead from a dig you haven’t completed yet.

DLC and zone access requirements

The Wrothgar lead requires access to the Orsinium zone, and Pale Order’s Golden Band requires access to The Reach/Markarth and its Blackreach area. The base-game Antiquities unlock alone does not open those zones.

The Onyx Accent Stones lead requires Wrothgar/Orsinium access. Pale Order’s Golden Band comes from an Ancient Text document in Nighthollow Keep in Blackreach: Arkthzand Cavern, and its excavation is in The Reach. Check access to those locations before starting.

Pale Order leads that need special sources

At Nighthollow Keep the Ancient Text can be easy to miss: enter the eastern part of the ruin, descend the stairs to the right and interact with the document on a table. Unlike most of the other fragments, this is an interactable source rather than a boss or chest drop.

Aurmine Ancestral Signet can drop from treasure chests in Bangkorai. Direnni Elegy Loop comes from the boss of Coldrock Diggings, while Order-Etched Gallery Rail drops from enemies in Bad Man’s Hallows. Pale Order’s Golden Band is a document interaction, not a boss drop.

Why a lead isn’t dropping or cannot be scryed

If you can’t find a Pale Order lead, confirm whether it’s a random drop or a fixed object interaction. For Nighthollow Keep, check the actual document location rather than farming enemies. If you already have a gold lead, make sure your Scrying rank lets you use it.

How to finish and use the completed reward

After recovering all five fragments, the Ring of the Pale Order assembles automatically in your inventory. Equip the Mythic ring as part of a solo-focused build, but remember that you can only have one Mythic item equipped at a time.

If Ring of the Pale Order hasn’t appeared, check Pale Order’s Golden Band in the Antiquities Journal. You obtain that lead by interacting with the Ancient Text in Nighthollow Keep, then excavate it in The Reach; finding the document alone doesn’t complete the fragment.
