The ESO Ebon Dwarven Wolf Mount is assembled from seventeen separate Antiquities fragments, scattered across different activities and zones. You’ll need to collect a lead, scry it and excavate the corresponding fragment for every single piece. There’s no single dungeon run or shortcut that unlocks the whole mount.
Most of the hunt takes place in base-game areas, but some parts involve Greymoor’s Blackreach. Greymoor and Antiquities are scheduled to be included in ESO’s base game from October 19, 2026; check your access before heading towards Nchuthnkarst.

Once you have a lead, scry it in Journal → Antiquities and finish the dig to add that component to your collection. The full seventeen-piece list is worth checking off as you go, because obtaining a lead and recovering its fragment are different stages.

How to collect and excavate each fragment
- Complete the Antiquarian Circle introduction in Solitude to unlock Scrying and Excavation.
- Check each Wolf fragment’s lead rarity before scrying it. Blue and purple leads can be completed at lower Scrying ranks, while higher-rarity leads need additional Antiquarian Insight upgrades.
- Travel to one of the exact lead sources in the table and complete the listed activity until the lead is obtained.
- Open Journal → Antiquities, select the lead, and complete the scrying puzzle.
- Go to the highlighted search area and use the Antiquarian’s Eye to find the dig mound, then excavate the fragment.
- Repeat for every other distinct lead. Once all fragments are excavated, the item or mount is assembled.
For the Ebon Dwarven Wolf, keeping track of finished fragments saves a lot of backtracking. Use the Antiquities Journal to see which Wolf components are already complete, then concentrate on the remaining lead sources. Repeating a finished piece won’t bring you closer to the mount.

DLC and zone access requirements
Most Ebon Dwarven Wolf fragments are in base-game zones and dungeons, but Nchuthnkarst is in Greymoor’s Blackreach and may require the Greymoor entitlement until October 19. Access to Fighters Guild crafting areas and suitable dungeon groups can also matter.
Blackreach access is the main thing to check before starting. A lead can drop somewhere you can visit even if its dig location is in a zone you cannot enter. ESO Plus and owned DLC affect that access, so check both locations listed for each fragment.
Ebon Dwarven Wolf leads that take extra work
This is a seventeen-piece Antiquities collectible, not a five-lead Mythic ring. For each fragment, first obtain its lead from the activity shown, then scry and excavate in the indicated dig zone. The mount is assembled after all seventeen unique components are recovered.
Some Wolf leads come from very specific sources rather than ordinary enemy kills. Follow the activity listed for each fragment: if it comes from a dungeon boss, a document or a gathering activity, doing something else in the same zone won’t help.
Why a lead isn’t dropping or cannot be scryed
If an Ebon Dwarven Wolf lead refuses to drop, double-check the named source and whether that lead is already active in your Journal. Random drops can take repeated attempts. If you have the lead but cannot scry it, check your Scrying rank and the necessary Antiquarian Insight passive.
Access can also stop you completing a fragment. Nchuthnkarst is in Greymoor’s Blackreach, and the Earth Forge requires progress through the Fighters Guild questline. Check the listed source and dig location before farming a piece.
How to unlock the Ebon Dwarven Wolf mount
When all seventeen fragments have been excavated, the Ebon Dwarven Wolf is assembled automatically. Open Collections → Mounts to choose and equip it. You don’t need to craft the mount or purchase another item once every component is complete.
If the Ebon Dwarven Wolf still isn’t available, open Collections → Mounts and compare your seventeen completed fragments with the lead list. Pay particular attention to the Earth Forge and Nchuthnkarst pieces, which require specific access or activities before you can dig them up.
