ESO Ring of the Wild Hunt takes five Antiquities fragments to make. It’s a popular movement-focused Mythic, but each piece has a different lead source. Work through the locations one at a time, scrying and excavating every fragment before expecting the complete ring.
The Antiquities system is scheduled to join ESO’s base game on October 19, 2026, while some Ring of the Wild Hunt locations still need separate DLC access. In particular, check Murkmire before going after the Charm of the Shapeless.
ESO Ring of the Wild Hunt: all 5 leads and locations
| Fragment / lead | Zone | Exact lead source |
|---|---|---|
| Band of Water | Glenumbra | Defeat a boss in Bad Man’s Hallows public dungeon |
| Charm of the Shapeless | Murkmire | Defeat world bosses or delve bosses |
| Face of the Serpent | Grahtwood | Defeat Canonreeve Oraneth, final boss in Elden Hollow |
| Face of the Wolf Beast | Malabal Tor | Defeat world bosses |
| Symbol of Y’ffre | Greenshade | Defeat world bosses |
Once a lead drops, select it in Journal → Antiquities, finish Scrying and recover the buried fragment. You’ll need five different excavated pieces; holding five leads without completing their digs won’t assemble the ring.

How to collect and excavate every fragment
- Complete the Antiquarian Circle introduction in Solitude to unlock Scrying and Excavation.
- Raise Scrying to at least level 7 and unlock Antiquarian Insight IV for master-quality Mythic leads.
- Travel to one of the exact lead sources in the table and complete the listed activity until the lead is obtained.
- Open Journal → Antiquities, select the lead, and complete the scrying puzzle.
- Go to the highlighted search area and use the Antiquarian’s Eye to find the dig mound, then excavate the fragment.
- Repeat for every other distinct lead. Once all fragments are excavated, the item or mount is assembled.
The Ring of the Wild Hunt boosts movement speed and is particularly useful for travel and gathering. Keep track of the fragments you’ve actually excavated so you can return to the hunt without wasting time on a piece you’ve finished.

Wild Hunt DLC and zone access requirements
Murkmire is a separate DLC zone. The Elden Hollow dungeon and base-game zones are available without buying that DLC, but you still need Murkmire access for Charm of the Shapeless.
You need Murkmire access for the Charm of the Shapeless lead, which can drop from world bosses and delve bosses there. The remaining leads come from activities in Glenumbra, Grahtwood, Malabal Tor and Greenshade.
Wild Hunt leads that take longer to find
The Ring of the Wild Hunt improves movement speed while fighting and outside combat. It is useful for farming and traversing zones, but you must excavate all five fragments before the ring is assembled.
For the Wild Hunt’s Face of the Serpent fragment, beat Canonreeve Oraneth at the end of Elden Hollow. Band of Water comes from bosses inside Bad Man’s Hallows in Glenumbra. The other three fragments are tied to world or delve bosses, so check the named zone before starting a farming loop.
Why a lead isn’t dropping or cannot be scryed
If a lead won’t appear, first check the exact source and your Journal for an active lead. If you can see the lead but cannot start Scrying, your Scrying rank or Antiquarian Insight passive may be too low for its rarity.
How to finish and use the completed reward
Once all five fragments are excavated, the Ring of the Wild Hunt assembles automatically. It increases movement speed by 15% in combat and 45% out of combat, making it handy for travel, exploration and gathering. Equip it as your Mythic ring, with only one Mythic item active at a time.
If Ring of the Wild Hunt hasn’t assembled, compare all five completed fragments in your Antiquities Journal. Charm of the Shapeless comes from Murkmire bosses, while the other pieces have separate lead sources; collecting another copy of an existing lead won’t replace a missing fragment.
