Pokémon GO Twilight Trails Timed Research is live from September 23 at 10:00 a.m. until September 28 at 8:00 p.m. local time, but not every Trainer receives the same version. Some accounts get one Explore, Catch or Battle choice for the entire week, while others get a daily version with four bonus choices and new Timed Research every day.
That split makes Pokémon GO Twilight Trails Timed Research more complicated than the usual branching research. The weekly version gives larger one-time rewards, while the daily version gives smaller tasks that can be repeated each day. This guide lists both live task sets, the bonuses attached to each path, and the event Field Research rewards.

Pokémon GO Twilight Trails Timed Research begins on Wednesday, September 23 at 10:00 a.m. and ends on Monday, September 28 at 8:00 p.m. local time. Pokémon GO officially warned that Trainers may receive different research opportunities, and the live rollout confirms two versions.
| Version | Choices | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly | Explore, Catch Candy, Battle | One choice through September 28 at 8:00 p.m. |
| Daily | Explore, Catch Stardust, Catch Candy, Battle | Choose again each day; daily research expires that day |
Both versions begin with a simple claim step that awards 500 Stardust, followed by five Poké Balls for completing the page. After that, the path screen appears. The version with three choices is the week-long branch, while four choices indicates the repeatable daily experiment.
Weekly Pokémon GO Twilight Trails Timed Research tasks and rewards
If your Pokémon GO Twilight Trails Timed Research shows three choices, you are on the weekly version. You choose once and keep that bonus for the event. Each branch awards five Rare Candy, 5,000 XP and 5,000 Stardust when completed, in addition to the individual task rewards.

The Explore path gives 5× XP for spinning PokéStops.

| Task | Reward |

| Defeat 5 Team GO Rocket Grunts | 5,000 XP |
| Defeat a Team GO Rocket Leader | 3 Charged TMs |

Daily Pokémon GO Twilight Trails Timed Research tasks and rewards
The daily Pokémon GO Twilight Trails Timed Research gives four choices rather than three. You can select a new bonus each day, and the associated research must be finished before that day’s timer expires. The four bonuses are 5× PokéStop spin XP, 2× Catch Stardust, 2× Catch Candy, or extra Mysterious Components from Rocket Grunts.
| Daily path | Tasks | Completion reward |
|---|---|---|
| Explore | Explore 1 km; spin 10 PokéStops or Gyms; complete a Route | 2 Rare Candy, 2,500 XP, 2,500 Stardust |
| Catch Stardust | 20 Curveball Throws; 10 Great Curveball Throws; 3 Excellent Throws | 2 Rare Candy, 2,500 XP, 2,500 Stardust |
| Catch Candy | Catch 20 Pokémon; use 10 Berries; transfer 10 Pokémon | 2 Rare Candy, 2,500 XP, 2,500 Stardust |
| Battle | Defeat 1 Rocket Grunt; power up 5 times; use 3 supereffective Charged Attacks | 2 Rare Candy, 2,500 XP, 2,500 Stardust |
For daily players, Pokémon GO Twilight Trails Timed Research can be completed once per day, so the smaller completion package can add up across the event if you keep finishing the branch. The individual rewards are also useful. Daily Explore gives two Golden Razz Berries, 2,500 XP and 2,500 Stardust across its three tasks. Catch Stardust gives 20 Ultra Balls, 2,500 XP and 2,500 Stardust. Catch Candy gives 20 Ultra Balls, 2,500 XP and 2,500 Stardust. Battle gives one Charged TM, 2,500 XP and 2,500 Stardust.
Twilight Trails Field Research rewards
Pokémon GO Twilight Trails Timed Research is joined by three event Field Research tasks. These PokéStop tasks are separate from Pokémon GO Twilight Trails Timed Research, so you can keep collecting them while progressing your chosen branch. Each one rewards one Rare Candy, so they are worth checking while you are already spinning PokéStops for the Explore bonus.
| Field Research task | Reward |
|---|---|
| Make 5 Nice Throws | 1 Rare Candy |
| Defeat a Team GO Rocket Grunt | 1 Rare Candy |
| Explore 1 km | 1 Rare Candy |
When does the research expire?
The weekly Pokémon GO Twilight Trails Timed Research expires with the event on September 28 at 8:00 p.m. local time. The daily version is stricter: each day’s branch has its own deadline, normally 11:59 p.m. local time, with the final day ending at 8:00 p.m. alongside the event. Claim the rewards before the timer reaches zero rather than leaving completed tasks sitting on the Research screen.

Keep this Pokémon GO Twilight Trails Timed Research guide open if your branch changes on a later day. The official Pokémon GO announcement confirms the September 23 to September 28 window and warns that research opportunities can differ between Trainers. For the live Pokémon GO Twilight Trails Timed Research, check whether your account has three or four choices before following a task table, because that determines whether you have the week-long or daily version.
