Tainted Grail Update 1.31 adds two Halloween armour sets to The Fall of Avalon, alongside fixes for unarmed combat, Steam Deck brightness and several interface problems. Questline and Awaken Realms released the PC patch on October 29, 2026.
The new outfits are Sefeir’s Guise, a witch costume hidden in the swamps, and Unseen, an invisible armour appearance earned from skeleton drops in Horns of the South. Both are transmog additions, so the Halloween update is as much about changing your character’s look as it is about fixing bugs.
Tainted Grail Update 1.31 Halloween Armour
Sefeir’s Guise is a witch-themed outfit designed for transmog. Questline has hidden it somewhere in the swamps, with a hint pointing towards a grave-like Halloween setting. Once found, it remains available after Halloween. The outfit has almost no combat stats, making it a cosmetic choice rather than a substitute for protective armour.
Unseen works differently. The appearance hides your armour while allowing you to keep its protection. Some skeletons in Horns of the South can drop pieces when defeated, making combat and looting the way to collect the set. The drop is random, so defeating a skeleton does not automatically award an Unseen piece.

The two sets serve different purposes. Sefeir’s Guise is physical gear with negligible combat benefits, intended for its witch appearance. Unseen lets you retain the defensive value of the armour already equipped while removing its visible appearance. Neither set adds a new combat questline.
Tainted Grail Update 1.31 Full Patch Notes
Beyond the costumes, Tainted Grail Update 1.31 makes nine changes. Two address unarmed weapons, while the rest improve Steam Deck visuals, sound, menus and quest information.
- The All Items inventory tab displays categories only when needed.
- Unbroken Motion has a different idle sound.
- Unarmed weapon hitboxes work correctly after loading a saved game.
- Overly bright areas on Steam Deck have been fixed.
- Tool tutorials no longer stay on screen after mounting a horse or placing a campfire in third-person mode.
- Location names in quest descriptions are no longer cropped with Large UI enabled.
- Unarmed weapons appear on the character in the transmog preview.
- The On Maceration and Wyrdstone quest item can no longer be sold.
- Objective checkboxes display correctly at low screen resolutions.
The unarmed hitbox correction is particularly relevant if attacks previously connected inconsistently after reloading. The transmog preview fix is separate: it restores the visual display of fist weapons on the character model, rather than changing their damage or combat behaviour.
Tainted Grail Update 1.31 Steam Deck Brightness Fix
Steam Deck players receive a fix for areas that looked excessively bright. This is a rendering correction in the game update, not a new graphics preset. You can continue using the Quality or Performance mode introduced with version 1.30.
Quality targets roughly 30 FPS and favours image quality. Performance targets approximately 35 to 40 FPS with reduced visual demands. Version 1.30 also added FSR upscaling and separated Grass Density from Vegetation Quality, giving players more control over demanding scenes.
To benefit from the brightness correction, install Tainted Grail Update 1.31 through Steam. Changing the Steam Deck’s display brightness is not a replacement for the patch, because the problem concerned how certain game areas were rendered.

Tainted Grail Update 1.31 Fists of Fury Changes
Fists of Fury introduced fistfighting weapons, a dedicated unarmed skill tree and a questline in Horns of the South. This Halloween patch makes three relevant corrections: attacks after loading saves, weapon visibility in transmog previews, and the idle sound for Unbroken Motion.
Unbroken Motion is a combo weapon whose consecutive hits increase critical hit chance. The altered idle sound doesn’t change that ability. Likewise, the preview fix changes how the weapon is shown in the appearance interface, not how the weapon performs in combat.
Tainted Grail Update 1.31 on PS5 and Xbox
The October 29 announcement confirms the PC update and warns that console patches can take additional processing time. PlayStation 5 and Xbox players should use their console’s game-update function and check the installed version before looking for the new Halloween appearances.
If the installed version is older than 1.31, the Halloween armour and fixes are not yet part of that installation. There is no separate in-game download for the costumes: they are added by the game patch itself.
Where to Get Sefeir’s Guise and Unseen
Sefeir’s Guise is hidden in the swamps. Questline’s clue points to somewhere with a suitably grave Halloween atmosphere. Its value is in the witch outfit, which can be kept and used beyond the seasonal event. It is not a combat upgrade.
Unseen pieces come from skeleton enemies in Horns of the South. Fight those enemies and check their loot for pieces of the invisible appearance set. The chance-based drops make it a collection activity rather than a guaranteed reward from a single encounter.
Tainted Grail Update 1.31 brings two new ways to customise your character and fixes for unarmed attacks, interface readability and Steam Deck lighting.
