Manor Lords Rural Foundations perks are six new development choices added in update 0.8.117, which reached Steam’s default branch on 31 October 2026. The category unlocks at Settlement Level 3, with options for forestry, woodland beekeeping, fishing, livestock and farming.

The bonuses are different enough that your choice should depend on what your village already produces. Some help processing buildings, others change seasonal work or animal reproduction. Here is the full list of six and the precise improvements confirmed by developer Slavic Magic.

How to unlock Manor Lords Rural Foundations perks

Reach Settlement Level 3 to unlock the category. That is the developer’s stated requirement, but it doesn’t mean all six bonuses are automatically selected. Choose the ones that strengthen your settlement’s economy; the official patch notes do not give a universal points cost or a best order for every town.

The six Manor Lords Rural Foundations perks are Experienced Forestry, Woodland Beekeeping, Fish Husbandry, Livestock Provisioning, Practical Tillage and Pastoral Practice. Several unlock upgrades for specific workplaces, including the Charcoal Kiln, Forester’s Hut, Butcher, Farmhouse and Dunghill.

Experienced Forestry: charcoal, planks and bows

Experienced Forestry unlocks Tight-Sealing for the Charcoal Kiln, improving efficiency by 25%. Sawpit efficiency increases by 20%, and Bow Militia range improves by 25%. The perk also allows trees to be planted during winter, so its value extends beyond the usual forest-working season.

Of the Manor Lords Rural Foundations perks, this is the most directly focused on wood processing, though the Bow Militia bonus can matter to settlements preparing for combat. The bonus is range, not an unannounced increase to bow damage.

Woodland Beekeeping: Zeidler’s Hut, Honey and Wax

Woodland Beekeeping upgrades a Forester’s Hut to a Zeidler’s Hut. Workers tend woodland beehives in spring and summer, then harvest Honey and Wax in autumn. The perk raises Apiation’s limit by 10%, making a stronger Pollination bonus possible.

It also cuts by 25% the number of Apples needed to produce Cider. These effects make the perk more useful for a village combining orchard production with woodland beekeeping than for one with no available woodland or cider industry.

Fish Husbandry: winter fishing and smoked fish

Fish Husbandry adds 15% to a shoal’s capacity and raises Fishmonger efficiency by 25%. Fishing becomes possible in winter, and fish can reproduce across spring, summer and autumn. The trade-off is a 50% reduction to their reproduction rate.

Among the Manor Lords Rural Foundations perks, Fish Husbandry is the choice most directly tied to the new Fishmonger artisan. That artisan makes Smoked Fish from Fish and Salt. Our Fishmonger guide explains the ingredients and why the extra fishing season doesn’t guarantee limitless fish.

Livestock Provisioning: cattle, feed and Butcher’s Gantry

Livestock Provisioning unlocks the Butcher’s Gantry, an upgrade with a 20% efficiency boost. Cow reproduction success improves by 15%, Livestock Farm efficiency when making Animal Feed rises by 20%, and spoilage of Beef and Mutton is reduced by 10%.

This perk suits towns focused on livestock for meat and feeding animals through the seasons. It is not the same as Pastoral Practice, which focuses more on sheep and pasture capacity. Improving reproduction success also does not guarantee a new animal every time.

Practical Tillage: threshing, weather and dung

Practical Tillage unlocks the Cobbled Threshing Floor, improving Farmhouse threshing efficiency by 15%. It lets Dung Collectors gather from backyard animal pens. Crop spoilage falls by roughly 18%, rain and snow damage by 50%, and field drought resistance improves by 50%.

These Manor Lords Rural Foundations perks can be combined with the new Fertilizer mechanic. For example, Practical Tillage broadens dung collection beyond pastures, while the Dunghill produces the material used on fallow fields. Our Dunghill fertilizer guide covers the summer treatment and storage rules.

Pastoral Practice: sheep and Stone-Lined Pit

Pastoral Practice unlocks the Stone-Lined Pit at the Dunghill, raising its efficiency by 20%. Sheep reproduction success increases by 30%, backyard animal pens produce 10% faster, and pasture capacity rises by 20%. These are separate bonuses for animal breeding, pasture space and processing.

Pastoral Practice is one of the six new perks. The separate Born of the Alps adjustment, which stops sheep dying during high-elevation winters and adds one Wool at high elevation, is not a seventh Rural Foundations perk. For damaged crops, consider Practical Tillage; for cattle and meat, Livestock Provisioning.

Which Manor Lords Rural Foundations perks should you pick?

There is no one-size-fits-all order. Forestry supports logs and Charcoal; Beekeeping supports Honey, Wax and Cider; Fish Husbandry supports catch and smoked-fish processing. Livestock Provisioning helps cattle and meat, Practical Tillage helps fields and dung, and Pastoral Practice helps sheep and pastures.

The Manor Lords Rural Foundations perks complement the wider 0.8.117 farming update, but they don’t override planting seasons. For the changes to winter and spring crops, read our crop rotation guide. Our patch notes cover the full stable update.
