County of Fortune demo save transfer works from the October 15, 2026 demo into the November 5 Early Access game, developer Nepos Games has confirmed. Older Steam Next Fest saves from June are different: the developer says they are not compatible with the updated October demo.

If you played back in June, your old save won’t open in the refreshed October trial. If you’ve built a county in the October 15 demo instead, you can continue with it when Early Access begins. Those are two very different answers.

The official County of Fortune demo save transfer answer depends on which demo build you played. Nepos Games gives two separate rules, and mixing them up would make it sound as though every demo save works or none of them do.

October 15, 2026 demoNovember 5 Early Access gameYes. Progress carries forward.

You don’t need to hunt for a save converter. Nepos Games says progress from the October trial carries into Early Access, while the June build is incompatible with the updated demo. It has not published a manual migration method for those older files.

Why can’t June Steam Next Fest saves be loaded?

Nepos Games changed the game substantially between the earlier June trial and the refreshed version released on October 15. The publisher’s demo FAQ specifically says the old saves are incompatible with the new demo because of those changes. That is a version issue, not proof that an individual save file has been damaged.

The newer demo introduces improvements to settlement relocation, mayors, cultures and Construction Points. The developer has not published a supported way of migrating old June counties into that build. Avoid moving Steam Cloud folders around or deleting local backups based on unofficial instructions claiming to fix the incompatibility.

The County of Fortune demo save transfer situation makes more sense once you separate the two versions. The October demo is the one to use if you want to begin a county now and carry on with it after November 5.

What is playable in the October demo?

The refreshed free trial includes one map, with settlements limited to level two and Commoners as the available social class. Those limits make it a good introduction to village placement, early production and the roads linking different parts of your medieval county.

In the new demo, settlements can be moved a reasonable distance from their first position without a penalty or cost. The studio also revisited cultural bonuses and traditional products, changed how mayors work and made Construction Points clearer. These adjustments help explain why the October version is not identical to the one shown during June Steam Next Fest.

The County of Fortune demo save transfer policy lets players keep working on an October settlement when they buy Early Access. There is no requirement to reach the demo’s level cap first. The key distinction is the version in which that progress was made.

How do you continue your current demo save?

Open the official County of Fortune Steam store page and install the current free demo. Once the full Early Access game becomes available on November 5, purchase and launch it with the same Steam account used for the October trial. The developer has confirmed progress carryover, but has not specified any manual import menu or cloud-file editing procedure.

If your October settlement isn’t available when the paid game launches, contact Nepos Games through its official Steam support discussions before touching save folders or cloud backups. No separate import process has been announced.

County of Fortune demo save transfer into the bigger game

Early Access raises the settlement cap from level two to four, adds Artisans and Patricians, introduces more than 40 additional production buildings and 50 new products, and expands river logistics with ports and sailboats. These additions create more work for settlements that began life during the October demo.

For the current County of Fortune demo save transfer, October progress carries into Early Access on November 5, 2026. Saves from the old June Next Fest demo do not work in the refreshed October build.
