Helldivers 2 G-8 Immolation Grenade is one of two new throwables coming with the Ironclad Democracy Premium Warbond on September 22. Arrowhead describes it as a fire-focused throwable that sacrifices the conventional explosion for a blanket of flame around its target area.
That is enough to understand the job of Helldivers 2 G-8 Immolation Grenade, but not enough to invent a complete tier-list verdict. The reveal explains how the throwable is supposed to behave while leaving several live-game values unpublished, so this guide sticks to the confirmed mechanics and the normal Warbond unlock process.
How to get Helldivers 2 G-8 Immolation Grenade
Helldivers 2 G-8 Immolation Grenade is an Ironclad Democracy Warbond reward. To reach it, players will need to unlock the Premium Warbond with Super Credits and then spend Medals on rewards inside its catalogue. Medals come from playing missions and completing orders, while Super Credits can be earned in-game or purchased.
The September 15 reveal does not give the Warbond price, the page containing Helldivers 2 G-8 Immolation Grenade or the Medal amount needed to claim it. Those details should be visible when Ironclad Democracy reaches the Acquisitions Center on September 22. Warbonds remain available after release, so the throwable is not tied to a short event timer.
What Helldivers 2 G-8 Immolation Grenade does in a loadout
The defining feature of Helldivers 2 G-8 Immolation Grenade is that it is an area-denial grenade aimed at setting a space on fire rather than delivering one short explosive burst. That gives it a very different identity from a standard fragmentation grenade and makes the choice about function rather than simply asking which throwable has the biggest number.
Arrowhead has not yet published burn duration, fire damage, radius, fuse behavior, interaction with terrain and the exact Medal cost. Those details will decide how consistently Helldivers 2 G-8 Immolation Grenade performs in real missions and whether its special behavior is worth giving up another grenade option.
The Warbond gives it some useful context
Ironclad Democracy is built around heavy battlefield tools. Alongside Helldivers 2 G-8 Immolation Grenade, the Warbond adds the AR-11 Arbitrator, GL-15 Evictor, P-34 Breacher and the other new throwable. It also brings two armor sets using Blunt-Force Mitigation, which reduces impact and collision damage by 30% and improves resistance to being knocked down.
The Integrated Extinguishers booster is especially relevant to the Warbond’s fire-heavy side because it reduces the time needed to extinguish flames. The Ironclad Democracy Warbond overview has the complete reward list without pretending every item has already been tested.
Is it good?
Helldivers 2 G-8 Immolation Grenade has a clear reason to exist, and that is the most that can be said confidently before launch. Its confirmed mechanics offer a distinct utility option, but “good” in Helldivers 2 depends on reliability, enemy breakpoints, mission type and what the rest of your squad is carrying.
Until September 22, a hard ranking for the Immolation Grenade would be guesswork. A better pre-launch read is that players who already want its specific type of utility should keep an eye on its Medal cost and live behavior first, then decide whether it deserves an early unlock.
What to check once Ironclad Democracy is live
The first useful tests for the Immolation Grenade will be consistency and control. We need to see how predictable its effect is, whether it wastes itself on low-value targets, how much area it covers and whether teammates can safely work around it. Those practical details matter more than trailer spectacle.
For now, the Immolation Grenade is a confirmed September 22 Warbond item with a specific purpose and no published final stats. The official Helldivers 2 website is the stable first-party game page. Our Ironclad Democracy release guide covers the date and the still-unannounced exact launch hour.
