The ESO Suncleft Grotto Ornaug Mount is a collectible reward available during the High Seas of Tamriel event, running from September 30 to October 14, 2026. Unlocking it requires three fragments: Galen Seawater, Captured Systres Zephr and Arcing Ornaug Energy. Each comes from a different event activity, including daily reward boxes, underwater bosses and achievements.
Getting the ESO Suncleft Grotto Ornaug Mount involves more than completing the daily quest a few times. You’ll also need to defeat specific enemies, participate in naval combat and finish the Flight of the Albatross achievement. Some fragments depend on random drops, while the achievement fragment has fixed requirements that you can complete throughout the event.

The ESO Suncleft Grotto Ornaug Mount requires the following three fragments:
| Fragment | How to Obtain |
|---|---|
| Galen Seawater | Chance to drop from a Legendary Deep Plunder Box |
| Captured Systres Zephr | Chance to drop from undersea bosses |
| Arcing Ornaug Energy | Complete Flight of the Albatross |
All three appear under Collections > Fragments > Suncleft Ornaug.
Galen Seawater and Captured Systres Zephr are random rewards, so obtaining them can take multiple attempts. Arcing Ornaug Energy is awarded for completing a specific achievement rather than relying on a random drop.
Once you’ve collected all three, you can combine them through the Collections menu to unlock the mount.
How to Start the High Seas Event
Before collecting fragments for the ESO Suncleft Grotto Ornaug Mount, you need access to the High Seas of Tamriel activities.
Open the Crown Store, select Quest Starters and accept Raising the Riotous Redress. Alternatively, travel to the Gold Coast near Anvil and speak with Baron-Captain Olsien Guy Mard.
The introductory quest involves restoring the Riotous Redress and its enchanted ship’s bell. Once completed, you’ll unlock Bounty of the Abecean Sea, the repeatable event daily.
This daily takes you aboard the Riotous Redress for ship-to-ship combat before sending you underwater in a Dwemer Diving Chamber. Both sections contain activities needed for the mount.
Completing Raising the Riotous Redress also awards the I Bid You Adieu! achievement, one of eight achievements required for Flight of the Albatross.
For help unlocking the daily, see our ESO Bounty of the Abecean Sea guide.
How to Get Galen Seawater in ESO
Galen Seawater can drop from a Legendary Deep Plunder Box earned during High Seas of Tamriel.
Your first qualifying High Seas event quest completion each day, per account, awards a Legendary Deep Plunder Box and 300 Trade Bars. This is the reward box to prioritise when collecting Galen Seawater.
Subsequent qualifying event quests can award Epic Deep Plunder Boxes, but the mount fragment is listed among the rewards exclusive to Legendary boxes.
The fragment isn’t guaranteed. You might receive Galen Seawater from an early box or need several daily rewards before it appears.
Complete Bounty of the Abecean Sea each day to collect your Legendary reward opportunity while progressing the other mount requirements.
Our ESO High Seas Event Boxes guide explains the different reward containers and what they can contain.
How to Get Captured Systres Zephr in ESO
Captured Systres Zephr is the second fragment needed for the ESO Suncleft Grotto Ornaug Mount. It has a chance to drop from undersea bosses encountered during Bounty of the Abecean Sea.
After surviving the naval battle, use the Dwemer Diving Chamber to descend beneath the Abecean Sea. You’ll encounter hostile creatures and several named bosses while exploring the underwater areas.
The relevant encounters include Lucky Gretch and Bright Bazzle, a pair of Reefwardens, and Krelzimar, Pelagic Trauma, the powerful Yaghra boss encountered deeper underwater.
Players have confirmed receiving Captured Systres Zephr from Krelzimar. However, the published reward information identifies undersea bosses generally as the fragment source, so it shouldn’t be treated as a guaranteed drop from one particular encounter.
Continue defeating the underwater bosses during your daily runs until the fragment appears.
These encounters are also required for the Eyes in the Dark achievement, meaning you’ll make progress towards Arcing Ornaug Energy while collecting Captured Systres Zephr.
How to Get Arcing Ornaug Energy
Unlike the other two fragments, Arcing Ornaug Energy is awarded for completing the Flight of the Albatross achievement.
Flight of the Albatross requires eight separate High Seas achievements covering the introductory quest, daily voyages, naval battles and underwater exploration.
You can track your progress through the High Seas achievement category in the game’s achievement menu.
All Eight Flight of the Albatross Requirements
| Achievement | What You Need to Do |
|---|---|
| I Bid You Adieu! | Complete Raising the Riotous Redress |
| Treasure Hunter on the High Seas | Complete Bounty of the Abecean Sea five times |
| A Baron-Captain’s Victory | Outlast an attacking ship and sink an attacking ship |
| Baron-Captain on Deck | Fire a catapult and repair breaches aboard the Riotous Redress |
| Ending the Louse-Whisperers | Kill 10 Louse-Whisperer Champions during ship battles |
| The Xirkn-Zel Diving Chamber | Survive a ship battle and use the diving chamber to reach the sea floor |
| Abecean Undersea Explorer | Explore and clear all six required underwater regions |
| Eyes in the Dark | Defeat Lucky Gretch, Bright Bazzle and Krelzimar |
Each achievement must be completed before Flight of the Albatross is awarded.
Treasure Hunter on the High Seas requires five completions of Bounty of the Abecean Sea, so finishing the underwater treasure objective once isn’t enough.
A Baron-Captain’s Victory includes two separate conditions. You’ll need to survive an encounter by outlasting the attacking ship and also sink an enemy vessel. Both are tracked under the same achievement.
Baron-Captain on Deck requires you to fire the ship’s catapult and repair breaches during combat. These interactions can be missed if you concentrate exclusively on defeating enemies.
Ending the Louse-Whisperers requires 10 Champion kills. The enemies board the Riotous Redress during naval encounters, and you can accumulate the kills across repeated voyages.
All Six Abecean Undersea Explorer Locations
Abecean Undersea Explorer is another requirement that can take additional exploration. It includes six named areas:
- Coral Forest
- Leviathan Gullet
- Ornaug Lair
- Haj Mota Hunting Grounds
- Wreck of the Sea Demon
- Reef Shark Run
Each area has its own achievement entry. Explore and clear the required regions while completing Bounty of the Abecean Sea, then check which locations remain unfinished.
For Eyes in the Dark, you’ll need to defeat both Lucky Gretch and Bright Bazzle, along with Krelzimar. These are the same named underwater encounters associated with the event’s boss rewards.
Once all eight achievements are complete, you’ll receive Arcing Ornaug Energy.
Our ESO Flight of the Albatross guide covers the achievement requirements in more detail.
How to Combine the ESO Suncleft Grotto Ornaug Mount Fragments
Once you have Galen Seawater, Captured Systres Zephr and Arcing Ornaug Energy, open your Collections menu.
Navigate to Fragments and find the Suncleft Ornaug collection. The three fragments should appear together, allowing you to check which ones have been collected.
If all three are available, use the collection’s fragment interaction to combine them and unlock the Suncleft Grotto Ornaug mount.
The completed mount will then become available through your Mounts collection, where you can select it like any other unlocked mount.
If you can’t complete the collection, check whether one fragment is still missing. Finishing Flight of the Albatross only awards Arcing Ornaug Energy and doesn’t automatically grant the two random-drop fragments.
Can You Get Every Suncleft Grotto Ornaug Fragment in One Day?
The ESO Suncleft Grotto Ornaug Mount requires repeated event participation, particularly because the Legendary Deep Plunder Box reward is limited to your first qualifying event quest completion each day.
Galen Seawater and Captured Systres Zephr also depend on random drops, so there’s no guaranteed number of boxes or boss kills required.
Flight of the Albatross includes five daily quest completions and several cumulative objectives. You’ll also need to experience different ship-battle outcomes and clear the six underwater regions.
You can finish many of the combat and exploration achievements during your first few voyages, but completing the entire mount collection depends on earning both random fragments and finishing the achievement checklist.
When Does the ESO Suncleft Grotto Ornaug Mount Event End?
High Seas of Tamriel runs until October 14, 2026, giving players a limited window to earn all three fragments.
The Legendary Deep Plunder Box is particularly important because the first qualifying daily completion provides the chance to obtain Galen Seawater. Missing a daily reward means losing one of those opportunities during the event.
If you already have Galen Seawater and Captured Systres Zephr, concentrate on whichever Flight of the Albatross achievements remain incomplete. The five daily completions, ship victories, Louse-Whisperer Champions and underwater regions are all requirements worth checking before the event closes.
Once all three fragments are collected, combine them through Collections to unlock your ESO Suncleft Grotto Ornaug Mount and add it to your available mounts
