ATMOSFAR Wasp types in the launch build are Utility, Hauler and Striker. Utility carries a travelling camp, Hauler moves heavy scrap with a magnet, and Striker is the quick, armed aircraft. Choosing the right vehicle makes resource gathering, exploration and dangerous flights considerably easier.

Apog Labs has also revealed the Scout Wasp, a fourth class planned for the later Rime update. It is not a launch-day vehicle, so players in the first two regions should focus on the three classes already available. Each launch Wasp needs liquid hydrogen, repair materials and regular maintenance.

The Utility is the most flexible launch Wasp for ordinary expeditions. It has a foldable Camp Hub that lets you land on an island and establish a compact working area with crafting, cooking, research and fuel-processing equipment. It is especially useful when your next objective requires more supplies than you can carry ready-made.

The Hauler Wasp is the heavy-lifting specialist. Its retractable magnet can pick up large pieces of scrap, while inventory slots hold smaller items and artifacts. The Striker Wasp combines rapid acceleration with turrets capable of firing projectiles. Use a Hauler for resource transportation and the Striker when speed or defence is a priority.

ATMOSFAR Wasp types: Utility for portable camps

The Utility Wasp is suited to shorter routes and repeated stops. Land on a clear surface, set up the Camp Hub and supply power to connected machines. You can use a crafting table to manufacture missing components and a hydrogen refinery to process the crystals collected during the trip. Pack the camp again before departure.

The Utility is a good starting point because it supports repairs, cooking and refuelling without having to move the whole Cloud Cruiser. Its flexibility is valuable on unfamiliar islands where you may discover an unexpected crafting requirement or need shelter from difficult weather.

ATMOSFAR Wasp types: Hauler for heavy salvage

The Hauler carries a reelable magnet for scrap that cannot be moved conveniently on foot. Bring the recovered object towards your Cloud Cruiser, where a cargo lift can receive large loads and transfer them into the ship’s storage system. This helps support building projects requiring heavier resources or components.

Choose a Wasp based on the job rather than the distance alone. The Hauler is built to recover and transport material, not replace the Utility’s portable camp. Plan a pickup point and an unloading point before taking off. Its extra inventory slots also help when collecting smaller artifacts alongside a large piece of salvage.

Striker Wasp: speed and weapons

Among ATMOSFAR Wasp types, the Striker is the fast-response class. Apog Labs describes its acceleration as the best among the initial Wasps, and the aircraft has turrets for several projectile types. It is designed for agile travel and confronting threats that a Utility or Hauler Wasp would be better off avoiding.

ATMOSFAR Wasp types all share major components such as hull, engine and hovers. Flying into terrain or landing badly can damage them and affect handling, speed or fuel efficiency. Keep the welder and repair materials ready, and consider upgrades to engine parts, hover modules and hulls as you progress.

When will the Scout Wasp arrive?

The Scout is the fourth of the ATMOSFAR Wasp types, scheduled for the later Rime Update alongside Tycos’s third region. The developer has described it as particularly fast and capable of scanning resources and dangers. There is no Scout Wasp unlock in the October launch build, which only includes Utility, Hauler and Striker.

For the current launch build, bring a Utility for camps and short expeditions, a Hauler for large salvage and a Striker for fast armed travel. Bring them aboard your Cloud Cruiser using Wasp pads when you expand the base, and keep fuel and repairs available for the entire fleet.
