Modern Warfare 4 X01 Bosses include two Lieutenants, Tae-Hyun (Knuckle) and Chol-Min (The Wrench), plus two Commander threats: The Captain and a patrolling Wheelson. All four arrive with the new Black Site on November 6 at 5 AM GMT.
The Captain also leads a Threat Briefing event. Defeat the Juggernaut, collect sections of his helmet and successfully extract them for rewards. The entire squad earns credit when one teammate extracts with the recovered Commander part.
Modern Warfare 4 X01 Bosses: All named enemies
The Captain is a Juggernaut Commander backed by elite guards. The other Commander is an autonomous patrolling Wheelson, a moving machine threat inside the complex. The Lieutenants are Tae-Hyun, known as Knuckle, and Chol-Min, known as The Wrench.
The 100 Spirits NK faction occupies X01, a former weapons facility connected to Hajin. You’ll face ordinary troops as well as Lieutenant and Commander threats, so bring enough ammunition and armour for several fights on the way to the main objective.
Find the targets on the Boss Board
When Modern Warfare 4 X01 Bosses arrive with Season 1, visit the Boss Board in the Forward Operating Base. Find Tae-Hyun and Chol-Min under Lieutenants, then The Captain and Wheelson under Commanders. Use that intel to choose the target your squad will pursue.
Ghost acts as X01’s Watcher, giving directions and threat updates as you complete the new DMZ Orders. Follow the active objective alongside Boss Board intel. The facility spans cargo areas, laboratories and a sealed Deep Vault connected by corridors and several floors.
Modern Warfare 4 X01 Bosses: The Captain helmet event
The Threat Briefing event sends you into X01 to locate and battle The Captain, a Juggernaut protected by elite guards. Collect sections of the helmet and exfil successfully to progress toward better rewards. Fighting the Commander without escaping does not meet the described extraction objective.
The whole squad receives credit when one player extracts with a scavenged Commander part. Once a teammate picks up a piece of The Captain’s helmet, protect the carrier and head for an available exit. Extraction is part of the event objective, not an optional extra.
Wheelson and Lieutenant encounters
The Wheelson is an autonomous patrolling Commander, so it can encounter squads moving through the facility instead of waiting in a fixed arena. Use cover and keep an eye on adjacent passages, especially when 100 Spirits NK troops are nearby.
Knuckle and The Wrench are the named Lieutenants on the updated Boss Board. Their intel is part of the new X01 Commander system; The Captain’s helmet collection is a separate event objective.
Modern Warfare 4 X01 bosses and Threat Briefing rewards
The Captain is also part of the Season 1 DMZ Threat Briefing event. Its objective is not just to defeat the Juggernaut: recover sections of his helmet and successfully extract with them to progress towards the event rewards.
Activision confirms that all squad members receive credit when one player exfils with a Commander part. The Battle Tank challenge in Hajin uses its own collectible parts. The event’s progress requirements are different from the Boss Board entries for Knuckle, The Wrench and Wheelson.
Preparing for Modern Warfare 4 X01 Bosses
Bring an Active Duty Operator with reliable armour, ammunition and supplies for an extended indoor fight. X01 has cargo bays, vehicle depots, weapon assembly rooms, underground labs and a sealed Deep Vault linked by vertical routes. An exit that is open early in deployment may become inaccessible later.

When the boss encounters unlock
Modern Warfare 4 X01 Bosses become available with Season 1 on November 6 at 5 AM GMT. They’re part of the X01 facility and its new DMZ Orders. Use the existing Colossus walkthrough if you’re fighting the older Hajin boss before Season 1.
