Modern Warfare 4 DMZ Boss Board unlocks after you complete your second DMZ Order. It is the Forward Operating Base station for tracking Lieutenants and Commanders in Hajin, checking the intel you’ve unlocked and deciding which targets to pursue. If you cannot see the station yet, finish the required Orders rather than searching the map for it.
There are two ways to track a Lieutenant: buy intel for a specific target at the Boss Board, or activate a Lieutenant Hunt Tower during your deployment. The October 25 update also fixed missing Lieutenant intel requirements and eliminated indicators in the board interface. Here’s how each route works and what you actually need to extract.
How to unlock the Modern Warfare 4 DMZ Boss Board
- From the Forward Operating Base, open the DMZ Orders station and complete the first two Orders.
- Return to the FOB after completing the second Order. The Boss Board becomes available as a physical station.
- Interact with the Boss Board to inspect Lieutenant profiles, intel requirements and Commander information.
- If intel remains unavailable for a Lieutenant, check that Lieutenant’s listed challenges. Completing the second Order unlocks the station, not every individual intel purchase.
The DMZ FOB guide covers the other stations. You can access the Modern Warfare 4 DMZ Boss Board between deployments, not as a menu that automatically marks every boss on the Tac-Map.

How to buy Lieutenant intel and find the target
Each Lieutenant has challenges you must complete in earlier deployments to unlock their available intel. Once eligible, select that Lieutenant at the Modern Warfare 4 DMZ Boss Board and pay the displayed amount in DMZ Cash. This reveals the information needed to hunt that target during the next deployment.
Purchased Lieutenant intel only lasts for one deployment. It isn’t a permanent map marker, so check your gear and your squad before paying. Your Operator needs to survive long enough to reach the target; buying intel doesn’t eliminate the Lieutenant or complete the relevant Order by itself.
How to find Lieutenants without paying for intel
Open the Tac-Map in Hajin and look for a Lieutenant Hunt Tower Side Op. Travel to its marked position, climb the tower and interact with the Upload Station at the top. The terminal marks the Lieutenant closest to your squad. This is an alternative to purchasing target-specific intel before deployment.
A Hunt Tower identifies the nearest Lieutenant, which may not be the particular target whose profile you were working on. If you need a named Lieutenant for progress, purchasing that target’s intel at the Modern Warfare 4 DMZ Boss Board is more direct. Use the Tac-Map to select your approach rather than assuming every boss spawns at a fixed location.
What do Lieutenants drop, and how does extraction work?
Lieutenants carry distinctive weapons and can rarely drop their signature weapon directly. Some also drop a key to a personal locked loot location. Every defeated Lieutenant drops a Dog Tag Case; this is the item that matters when you’re trying to advance Boss Board completion.
Pick up the Dog Tag Case, then reach an extraction point and successfully exfil with it. Carrying the case broadcasts your position to rival squads, so other players may converge on you. You can also progress the board by extracting a Lieutenant Dog Tag Case taken from another Operator. The DMZ exfil guide explains the extraction methods.

Lieutenants versus Commanders: what is different?
The Modern Warfare 4 DMZ Boss Board covers both enemy types, but they work differently. Lieutenants require target-specific intel challenges and can be located using intel purchases or Hunt Towers. Commanders are present in the Exclusion Zone without a purchased-intel system. The Tac-Map marks a Commander when your squad is close, and the Team Leader warns you about nearby threats.
Confirmed Commanders include the heavily armoured Colossus with a minigun, the flying Deathstalker drone and an enemy Tank. Your first defeat of a specific Commander earns DMZ Cash, and extracting after a Commander kill can yield valuable 3D Printer ingredients. Don’t confuse the Lieutenant Dog Tag Case objective with these Commander rewards.
October 25 Boss Board fix: missing unlocks and defeated markers
Infinity Ward’s October 25 patch fixed a display bug in which Lieutenant intel unlock requirements and the eliminated indicator could disappear while hovering over previously defeated Lieutenants. If a target looks incomplete, open its profile again and check the requirements instead of assuming a completed elimination has been erased.
That fix concerns the Modern Warfare 4 DMZ Boss Board interface. It does not mean all intel challenges have been waived, purchased intel now lasts indefinitely or every boss has a guaranteed weapon drop. The same patch reduced Drill Charge damage against the Colossus, without publishing a damage number.
What to do if the Boss Board still shows locked intel
First check whether you’ve completed the second DMZ Order to unlock the station. If only one Lieutenant’s intel is locked, read that target’s individual prerequisites. If a completed kill is not displayed, return to the board after the deployment and inspect the target profile again. For Dog Tag Case progression, make sure you actually extracted with the case, rather than merely defeating a Lieutenant.
A good Modern Warfare 4 DMZ Boss Board run has a clear endpoint: find the correct target, collect the required case and extract. Once you’re carrying the case, the broadcast to rival squads changes the situation, and the closest extraction route can become more valuable than another fight.
