Modern Warfare 4 DMZ FOB station unlocks are now confirmed. The 3D Printer opens at DMZ Level 2, the Vendor at Level 5, Gunsmith at Level 10 and the Dog Tag Case at Level 20. The Boss Board instead opens after your second completed DMZ Order.

The Forward Operating Base is where you gear up before going into Hajin and store your loot when you return. Activision’s October 9 deep dive also confirms 70 dedicated DMZ levels and the difference between Standard and Vault Edition Operator slots. Here’s the full station list before early access begins October 20.

Eight stations or functions are available immediately. The Modern Warfare 4 DMZ FOB is accessed through the DMZ main menu, and many stations can also be opened using the quick-access side menu. The numbered requirements refer to DMZ Player Level, not your normal Multiplayer account level.

3D Printer: DMZ Level 2

At Level 2, the 3D Printer starts producing gear such as Bandages, Medkits, backpacks and armour carriers. It also upgrades other FOB stations. You’ll need Recipes plus the required Resources or Ingredients; unlocking the Printer doesn’t give you every crafting recipe immediately.

The basic Resources are Synthetics, Electronics, Chemicals and Metals. Special Ingredients such as Binding Catalyst and Biomaterials must be found in Hajin. Additional Recipes come from DMZ progression, Orders or extracting a Recipe you’ve discovered. The Modern Warfare 4 DMZ FOB can put crafted equipment straight into the Stash or your Operator’s loadout.

Boss Board: complete your second DMZ Order

The Boss Board has no specified level threshold. Complete two DMZ Orders to open it, then spend DMZ Cash on intelligence concerning Lieutenants and Commanders. Orders are available from the beginning, so work through those early missions rather than grinding levels and wondering why the Board is locked.

This Modern Warfare 4 DMZ FOB station helps with boss hunts. It doesn’t replace the Bounty Leaderboard, which concerns other players and is already open when you start DMZ.

Weapon Vendor: DMZ Level 5

The Vendor starts trading at DMZ Level 5. Weapons and other equipment are bought with DMZ Cash, and Activision confirms the available stock rotates every day. Don’t assume a weapon you’ve spotted in the shop will remain available tomorrow.

For the Modern Warfare 4 DMZ FOB, the Vendor is a separate station from Gunsmith. It is available five levels earlier and lets you replace lost equipment without unlocking every Gunsmith feature.

Gunsmith: DMZ Level 10

At DMZ Level 10, Gunsmith opens for weapon customisation. Purchase compatible attachments with DMZ Cash and build weapons using the base gun unlocks you’ve earned. To make more base weapons available, collect Weapon Manuals in Hajin and extract them successfully.

Attachments unlocked through weapon progression in Multiplayer can also be available in DMZ, because the game shares compatible weapon levels. That’s different from the Modern Warfare 4 DMZ FOB station unlocks: gaining Multiplayer XP won’t unlock the Level 10 Gunsmith on its own.

Dog Tag Case: DMZ Level 20

Unlock the Dog Tag Case at Level 20 to display tags taken from enemy Operators and favourite the ones you want to keep. Your own Operators also have Dog Tags showing their individual progress, but those aren’t the same as your overall DMZ Player Level.

The Modern Warfare 4 DMZ FOB has a Bounty Leaderboard from the start. You don’t have to reach Level 20 to see who is Wanted, only to use the dedicated Dog Tag Case.

Modern Warfare 4 DMZ FOB XP: 70 separate levels

Progression Source Result
DMZ Player Level 1–70 Story Missions, Dynamic Operations, Side Ops and DMZ activities Stations, Recipes and FOB rewards
Main Player Level 1–55 Normal XP, including XP earned in DMZ Overall account progression
Multiplayer and Warzone XP Other multiplayer matches Does not advance DMZ Player Level
Weapon levels Using each weapon in supported modes Shared compatible attachments
Operator Dog Tags Progress on that specific Operator Trait Points

Activision confirms that DMZ XP also counts towards normal player progression. The reverse is not true: Multiplayer or Warzone XP does not raise the separate DMZ Player Level. DMZ XP also counts towards its track even when a deployment ends without extraction.

For Modern Warfare 4 DMZ FOB upgrades, earning DMZ XP through Orders and other activities is therefore the right way to progress. Your regular account rank can go up at the same time, but it can’t substitute for those 70 DMZ levels.

Active Duty slots: Standard versus Vault

Edition Starting Operator slots Later slots
Standard 2 Earned through DMZ levels
Vault 3 Earned through DMZ levels

The Operators station is unlocked immediately. Vault Edition owners have one more starting Active Duty slot than Standard owners. Additional slots unlock through DMZ progression, although Activision hasn’t listed the exact level of every additional slot in its overview.

Each Operator can earn up to 18 Trait Points across Warfighter, Scout and Survivalist. An Operator eliminated during a raid becomes MIA; you can pay DMZ Cash to recover them with their Traits, but you’ll need replacement gear. The Modern Warfare 4 DMZ FOB lets you manage those Operators separately.

Other FOB upgrades to unlock

The 70-level track also brings larger Stash and Bank capacity, extra Weapon Stash slots, more Vendor offers, Gunsmith discounts, 3D Printer enhancements, Recipes and Survival Kits. Some station upgrades require materials crafted at the Printer, so a level reward and the actual upgrade may be two separate steps.

The Modern Warfare 4 DMZ FOB develops alongside your runs. Check the DMZ Progression station to find upcoming unlocks, then look at the Printer for the resources needed to build the associated upgrade.

Best order for your first DMZ unlocks

Start with Orders and the Stash, reach Level 2 to craft basic survival gear, and finish the second Order for the Boss Board. Then target Level 5 for Vendor offers, Level 10 for Gunsmith and finally Level 20 for the Dog Tag Case.

Every Modern Warfare 4 DMZ FOB station in this guide is part of the full mode available in digital-preorder early access on October 20. The Vault Edition’s additional Operator slot doesn’t grant earlier access to the base stations. Full game release follows October 23.
