Modern Warfare 4 October 29 Patch Notes added the Possession Halloween playlist, increased XP earn rates across several Multiplayer modes and raised cash from Dynamic Ops, Side Ops and Story Mission replays in DMZ. Infinity Ward also fixed problems with extraction helicopters, missing mission items, the Stash and Multiplayer maps.
The October 29 update went live on Thursday, ahead of Infected on October 30. In DMZ, the biggest fixes address extraction crashes, missing interaction prompts and a loadout problem when the Stash is full.
Modern Warfare 4 October 29 Patch Notes: Possession and Multiplayer

Possession is live in Multiplayer. Kill an enemy and you move to their location with their loadout, opening unusual routes onto Hardpoints and bombsites. Our Possession guide explains the transfer and the best ways to use it.
Multiplayer XP earn rates have increased across several modes. The earlier October 25 update separately raised each kill in Search and Destroy and Collateral from 100 to 300 XP. Those adjustments are covered in our October 25 patch notes.
Higher cash rewards in DMZ
Modern Warfare 4 October 29 Patch Notes raised DMZ cash payouts for Dynamic Ops, Side Ops and Story Mission replays. Choose an active operation, complete its objective and check the payout in the After Action Report. Replaying a familiar mission is now a more rewarding way to build funds.
For storing and spending earnings, see our Stash and Wallet guide. Our operation cash guide compares the three affected activity types and when they’re useful.
Modern Warfare 4 October 29 Patch Notes: DMZ extraction fixes
The update fixes an enemy helicopter colliding with the Exfil helicopter and killing the Operators on board. It restores interaction prompts at Lieutenant Towers, fixes picking up hostages after assimilation and stops the Scavenger detecting Operators immediately on deployment.
Encrypted Voice Logs now spawn more reliably for the Ears Everywhere Order, and squadmate actions contribute properly to affected DMZ Mastery Camo challenges. Fixes also address Operators getting trapped in Hajin terrain and overlapping vehicles near the map edge.
Free Loadout and menu fixes
One Modern Warfare 4 October 29 Patch Notes fix lets players select a Free Loadout with a full Stash, even when their Active Duty Operator has no equipment. Opening or closing the DMZ FOB Quick Nav no longer pushes the progression track unexpectedly. Completed Calling Cards continue displaying their unlock requirements.
Other fixes cover the Inflation HVT cash statistic, a white flash when moving between Multiplayer menus and several crashes. Completed Calling Cards now continue to show their unlock requirements, making it easier to review previously earned items.
Modern Warfare 4 October 29 Patch Notes: map bugs and XP
On Lithium, distracting overhead effects have been removed. Concussion Grenades no longer show a misleading damage indicator, and a redundant timer is gone from Domination’s scoreboard. Recon Drones can no longer travel beyond Silkworm’s limits, and out-of-bounds routes on Mumbai have been closed.
Shipment also has fewer repeated enemy-location callouts. Infected is scheduled separately for October 30 with fixed Survivor and Infected loadouts. The Infected guide covers that Halloween mode; the Multiplayer guide covers other playlists.
Level 37 armour vest reward
The Modern Warfare 4 October 29 Patch Notes also cover the missing 3-Plate Armour Vest reward at DMZ Level 37 was fixed for players reaching that level after the repair. However, players who crossed Level 37 before the fix still had not received the item. Infinity Ward says it is working on granting the missing reward to those affected.
Modern Warfare 4 October 29 Patch Notes also precede Infected’s October 30 playlist debut. Season 1 begins on November 6 at 5 AM GMT, bringing X01 and three new 6v6 maps. Our Season 1 guide covers the launch.
