Black Flag Resynced Animus Rifts are four optional missions exploring alternate versions of Edward Kenway’s story. Three open during the campaign, and the final one becomes available after the ending. Each Rift has a different collectible reward, with 300 extra Animus Keys available once the whole group is complete.
Finding an entrance is only the start. Wayward Souls makes you carry a chest while your health drains, Wayward Desires features Blackbeard, Wayward Minds contains enemies you should not kill, and True Purpose hides an extra dialogue choice. These are all four Black Flag Resynced Animus Rifts with coordinates, unlocks and walkthroughs.
All Black Flag Resynced Animus Rifts Locations

| Rift | Coordinates | When unlocked | Reward |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wayward Souls | 825, 429 | After Sequence 4 | Lock of Hair |
| Wayward Desires | 604, 784 | Sequence 8 | Queen Anne’s Revenge Wheel |
| Wayward Minds | 14, 559 | Sequence 11 | Don’t Forget Your Old Shipmate |
| True Purpose | 363, 176 | Finish story and other Rifts | Dark Animus Corsair Pistol Swords |
Coordinates are approximate positions on the remake’s map. The Rift marker will not necessarily appear before you reach the story milestone. You can tackle the first three as they unlock or revisit them later, but True Purpose requires the other three and the finished story.
Wayward Souls: Great Inagua at 825, 429
The first of the Black Flag Resynced Animus Rifts appears on Great Inagua’s southern coast after Sequence 4. Follow the Resynchronize prompts and pick up the treasure chest representing Edward’s wealth. Your health drains whenever you are separated from the chest, so put it down only to operate ship wheels and quickly carry it forward again.
Use the lifts and ziplines to return to the chest after solving each wheel section. At the final choice, trusting Ego gives a shorter route; following the Eagle opens the harder alternative platforming path and can award 5,000 bonus Reales. Either way, you receive the Rare Lock of Hair trinket, which heals Edward after a Perfect Parry.
Wayward Desires: North of Nassau at 604, 784
You can access this Black Flag Resynced Animus Rifts chapter around Sequence 8. Sail to the island north of Nassau. The scenario imagines Blackbeard accepting the King’s pardon, and the mission sends you across wrecked ships, ziplines, a whirlpool and several enemy groups.
Use pistol shots and explosive barrels to clear crowded decks. When you fight Blackbeard, step away from the green danger circles and avoid committing to long melee combinations. In the final encounter, defeat his nearby crew if they surround you, then focus on him. Climb the mast and replace the flag to earn the Queen Anne’s Revenge Wheel.
Wayward Minds: Sacrifice Island at 14, 559

Wayward Minds is near the northwest edge of Sacrifice Island and becomes available around Sequence 11, after Delirium. It imagines Mary Read abandoning the Assassins to raise her child. Among the Black Flag Resynced Animus Rifts, it has the most unusual combat progression rules.
Do not kill the guard beside the climbable wall, because his attack is needed to advance. Similarly, leave the sniper overlooking the last bridge alive. Later the mission removes Edward’s weapons for a stealth section where guards and floating lights can immediately desynchronize you. Move through cover as the lights turn away and choose Renounce the Creed at Mary’s silhouette. The reward is the Don’t Forget Your Old Shipmate shanty.
Black Flag Resynced Animus Rifts: True Purpose at 363, 176
The last of the Black Flag Resynced Animus Rifts appears after finishing the story, its epilogue and all three earlier missions. Sail to the island east of Misteriosa with full supplies. The finale begins in a theatre, where the apparent choices Nothing Is True and Everything Is Permitted lead nowhere useful.
Wait during the dialogue until the hidden Fight Back response appears, then choose it. Fight through the theatre, climb into the rafters and follow the stage mechanisms to the final confrontation with Ego’s Emotion Agent. Dodge the wide attacks and shockwaves, use pistol shots to break its defenses and save Remedies for the second phase, when stones and beams overlap.
Defeating the final boss earns the Legendary Dark Animus Corsair Pistol Swords. Their heavy attacks can fire free pistol shots.
Black Flag Resynced Animus Rifts: How to Claim 300 Keys
The 300 Keys are claimed separately from the final weapon. After clearing all four missions, return to the Animus Hub, open Synchronization and claim the completed four-Rift objective. The Keys do not arrive automatically when the final boss falls.
Data Fragments are not needed to enter these four narrative missions. They belong to the separate Animus Projects system, which does not replace the story requirements for each Rift.
Black Flag Resynced Animus Rifts Not Showing Up?
Check that you’ve reached the required story sequence, then leave the area and return to the coordinates. If the marker is still missing, try reloading your save. If a completed Rift hasn’t counted, check its reward and the Animus Hub objective before replaying it.
These four story missions are separate from the glowing Anomaly activities in the Animus Hub. Anomalies and Data Fragments do not replace the campaign requirements listed above.
