The First Descendant Vulgus Bio Data Chips: Best Farms and How to Use Them

Official comparison of Onslaught Stage 4 and 5 event menus

Vulgus Bio Data Chips are the keys used to open Sync Loot after Bounty Operations in The First Descendant. The chips are worth collecting because Sync Loot can provide Ancestors Modules, cooling units, Gold, Kuiper and Trigger Module rewards, but you can only carry ten of them at a time.

October’s Onslaught Stage 5 added another useful Vulgus Bio Data Chips source. Its completion reward has a 29.4% chance to give two chips, and the eligible weekly bonus gives one more. Here’s how that compares to earlier Onslaught stages, how to find Bounty Operations, and what you actually receive when you spend a chip.

Where to farm Vulgus Bio Data Chips

Nexon lists the following sources for Vulgus Bio Data Chips. The Stage 1–3 rates were introduced with Onslaught’s official release, while Stage 5’s two-chip reward comes from Update 1.4.5. Each percentage refers to a mission-completion reward; the chips aren’t a guaranteed drop from every individual enemy.

For Vulgus Bio Data Chips specifically, Stage 5 is attractive if you can reliably complete the harder encounter. Its chance is for a pair, whereas the older stage tables describe a smaller reward. There is still no guarantee of two chips on every run, so expect some completions without that particular drop.

How to unlock the Stage 5 chip farm

To farm Vulgus Bio Data Chips through Onslaught Stage 5, complete Stage 4 once. Stage 5 can then be selected from Tactical Transport Control in Albion or the World Map’s content menu. Public matchmaking requires 93,300 Arche Activity, although Private Operations remain available below that figure.

There are six waves followed by a Colossus. Tyrants try to enter the Energy Concentration Point, costing 10% Energy if they get through. Barricades can stop their movement, while defeating a Tyrant also kills nearby normal and elite Vulgus. If you’re farming repeatedly, protecting Energy is essential to actually earn the mission-completion reward. Our Onslaught Stage 5 guide explains the other requirements and rewards.

The normal Stage 5 reward table also lists 367 cooling units and a chance at Transcendent Weapon Loot. Its weekly bonus can provide a chip alongside 130 cooling units and Ancestors Module Loot. That makes it a useful combined farm, but the weekly claims are limited and shouldn’t be counted as part of every unlimited completion.

What is the Vulgus Bio Data Chips inventory limit?

You can hold a maximum of ten Vulgus Bio Data Chips. This cap comes from Nexon’s Bounty Operations launch rules. Once you’re close to the limit, check for a hunt you can complete and use the chips you’ve collected. Carrying a full stack doesn’t improve the drop chances inside Sync Loot; the chip simply lets you open the reward.

It helps to rotate between the Onslaught chip farm and Bounty Operations rather than holding all ten indefinitely. If you are also collecting Ancestors Modules, our Ancestors Module Fragments guide explains another part of that progression, while free Ancestors Module readjustment covers a way to improve modules.

How to use Vulgus Bio Data Chips in Bounty Operations

Open the Bounty Operations icon on the World Map or speak with Eckert in Albion. Bounty Operations unlock at Mastery Rank 18 and require 81,580 Arche Activity for public matchmaking, with private entry allowed below that threshold. The mission sends you after a High-risk Hostile, with a route that can change between attempts.

When you complete a Bounty Operation, Sync Loot is summoned nearby. Interact with it and spend a Vulgus Bio Data Chip to receive the reward pool. This is the purpose of the chips: they are not an equipment upgrade themselves, and simply defeating monsters during Bounty Operations does not replace using the Sync Loot chest.

What rewards can Sync Loot give?

Nexon’s original Bounty Operations reward table includes guaranteed Gold, Kuiper, Collectible Coins, attribute-specific Ancestors Module Loot, cooling units and Trigger Module rewards. It also lists extra chances for larger quantities. The key point for Vulgus Bio Data Chips farming is that a successful Onslaught completion gets you the chip, while using that chip on Sync Loot gives you a separate reward roll.

Example reward from the original Sync Loot tableListed amountListed chance
Gold1,300,000100%
Kuiper Shards100,000100%
Collectible Coins200100%
Cooling Units100100%
Extra Cooling Units20050%
Extra Cooling Units50010%
Extra Cooling Units1,0005%

Different rewards have their own chances and the selection-box names can change after later module updates. Check the current in-game Sync Loot reward preview before assuming an older named box is unchanged. The Cradle of Evolution rewards guide explains a different mission reward pool, with no chip required for ordinary mission completion.

Best way to farm and spend your chips

For a capable squad, Onslaught Stage 5 is a strong route because its completion table offers two Vulgus Bio Data Chips at a 29.4% chance and other valuable materials at the same time. Earlier stages can be easier to clear if your character is not ready for Stage 5. Axion Plains assisted infiltration missions are another route to check.

Once you have chips, complete a suitable Bounty Operation, spend them on the summoned Sync Loot and keep an eye on the ten-chip cap. That cycle turns your Vulgus Bio Data Chips into Sync Loot rewards while leaving room under the ten-chip cap for later drops.
