Guide Quest Rewards in The First Descendant are changing on November 17, 2026. Nexon is retiring the existing Guide Quests and moving their rewards into the new Boost Path system. If you’ve already accepted a Guide Quest and haven’t completed it, there’s some good news: the game will automatically complete it during the update and deliver the reward straight to your inventory.
Unaccepted quests are another story. You won’t get Guide Quest Rewards from them automatically, although those items are planned for Boost Path. Before the November update, it’s worth checking which quests are already active so you know what will happen to your items. Here’s the confirmed process and what you can safely leave until the system changes.
When are Guide Quests being removed?
Guide Quests end after the November 17, 2026 PST update, when Season 4 Episode 2 introduces Boost Path. After that update, you won’t be able to accept or progress the old Guide Quests. The system change was announced on October 8, giving players time to review their current missions.
The removal only covers Guide Quests. For instance, the October Overhaul Missions and HQ Special Orders are separate events with their own deadlines. Those activities aren’t automatically completed under the Guide Quest Rewards retirement policy.

What happens to Guide Quest Rewards from active quests?
Any Guide Quest that is in progress before the update will be marked complete automatically. Nexon says the associated Guide Quest Rewards will be delivered immediately to your inventory. You don’t have to finish every last objective manually just to keep the reward from an already accepted quest.
That doesn’t mean completing it now is pointless. If the resources would help you unlock an activity or upgrade your character today, you can still finish normally and use them earlier. But if a quest is lengthy and you’re worried about running out of time, the developer’s announcement specifically protects quests that are already in progress.
There’s no stated minimum completion percentage for automatic delivery. The rule is about having an accepted, in-progress quest. The Guide Quest Rewards are sent to inventory, not described as a paid event-pass claim or an extra objective in a separate October mission board.
What happens to rewards from quests you never accepted?
You won’t receive Guide Quest Rewards automatically for quests that were never accepted. Nexon says those rewards are instead scheduled to be integrated into Boost Path. That’s different from the immediate payout for active quests, so don’t expect a huge inventory delivery from every old Guide Quest you haven’t started.
The October announcement also doesn’t provide a conversion table showing precisely where each old item will appear on the new progression path. It’s confirmed that the rewards are planned for Boost Path, but not which rank or objective will unlock a specific item. If you want a reward right away, you can still consider accepting and completing its old quest while the system is active.
| Your status before November 17 | What happens | Where rewards go |
|---|---|---|
| Accepted and in progress | Auto-completes | Directly to inventory |
| Never accepted | Old quest closes | No immediate payout; planned for Boost Path |
| Already completed and claimed | No new completion needed | Notice does not announce removing claimed items |
What is Boost Path replacing?
Boost Path is a new growth-guidance system arriving in Season 4 Episode 2. Its role includes providing the Guide Quest Rewards that aren’t paid out automatically. Nexon’s October 8 notice does not list the exact Boost Path milestones or reward amounts, so the old Guide Quest reward locations can’t yet be mapped one by one.
You can still work on the live systems you already have. Our Cradle of Evolution unlock guide explains its account requirements, while Ancestors Module Fragments and Ancestors Module readjustment cover current upgrade options. Those mechanics don’t require guessing how Boost Path will function.

Should you rush to finish your Guide Quests?
If the quest is active, you can choose whether to earn the items now or allow it to auto-complete on update day. For Guide Quest Rewards tied to quests in progress, the notice gives no reason to panic-finish everything before November 17. It may still be worthwhile when a reward would improve your current build.
For quests that haven’t been accepted, there’s no automatic November 17 payout. Consider whether the old reward is important enough to pursue now, keeping in mind that Boost Path will be the planned route after the change. Accelerate Research Week and Descendant’s Weekend are separate progression bonuses, not exceptions to the Guide Quest policy.
How to check Guide Quest Rewards after the update
After Season 4 Episode 2 goes live, look in your inventory for the rewards from Guide Quests that were active before the update. Then open Boost Path and inspect the newly available objectives. If an expected item isn’t in your inventory, check whether that Guide Quest had actually been accepted.
Rewards from Onslaught Stage 5 and Trials use different mission systems, so you won’t receive them just because Guide Quests end. For Guide Quest Rewards, the confirmed rule is straightforward: active quests finish automatically, while rewards from unaccepted quests are planned for Boost Path rather than delivered immediately.
