ESO Labyrinthian Public Dungeon: All Bosses and Group Event

ESO Labyrinthian Public Dungeon is located in Western Skyrim’s eastern Hjaalmarch foothills and contains six named boss encounters. The most important is Garneld the Hollow’s Group Event, which awards a skill point the first time you complete it on a character. There’s another Skyshard hidden within the burial mound.

Labyrinthian is a public dungeon, not an instanced four-player dungeon. You can enter at any time, meet other players inside and work through the side paths in whichever order is accessible. Here’s every boss required for Labyrinthian Conqueror and how the Group Event works.

Look for the Labyrinthian entrance on the Western Skyrim world map, east in Hjaalmarch Hold. Follow the ruins to its marked public-dungeon icon and enter the temple complex. The Labyrinthian is a surface-zone location; Nchuthnkarst is the different public dungeon underground in Blackreach.

A light or medium solo build can fight the normal packs, but boss mechanics still hurt. Carry healing, an interrupt and an area damage skill for undead waves. You can return to a missed boss chamber later without resetting a dungeon-finder instance.

Complete Labyrinthian boss checklist

  • Blackmaw, giant frost troll.
  • Tulnir, draugr mage.
  • Gralthum the Tormented, Wispmother.
  • Hjarnnir and Sleeraak, draugr caster and frost atronach duo.
  • Andumgar, named champion in the ruins.
  • Garneld the Hollow, necromancer Group Event with undead followers.

Labyrinthian has five standard champion encounters and one Group Event. Hjarnnir and Sleeraak count as a paired encounter, not two separately marked boss chambers. Don’t leave until the achievement lists both the five champions and Garneld’s event as complete.

Blackmaw, Tulnir and Gralthum boss mechanics

Blackmaw uses heavy frost-troll swings, slams the ground with damaging circles and throws rocks. Avoid the marked stomp and sidestep his ranged projectiles. Tulnir attacks with lightning and periodically places a large damaging circle around himself; back away from its range and resume damage after the effect ends.

Gralthum the Tormented is a Wispmother who summons wisps, ice pillars and a dangerous frontal frost breath. She also splits into three forms. During the Gralthum fight, remove extra enemies, move out of the icy cone and don’t stand still when the pillars appear.

Hjarnnir, Sleeraak and Andumgar

Hjarnnir and Sleeraak fight together: Hjarnnir uses ranged frost magic, while Sleeraak’s heavy frost-guardian attacks hurt at close range. Focus Sleeraak first if the melee pressure is too high, then deal with Hjarnnir. Search the unexplored side passages for Andumgar; missing that champion can prevent Labyrinthian Conqueror even after Garneld dies.

You can track the boss roster from the Journal achievement. Compare Blackmaw, Tulnir, Gralthum, Hjarnnir/Sleeraak, Andumgar and Garneld with your entries, rather than killing the same boss again hoping a different name will register.

Garneld the Hollow Group Event and skill point

Garneld the Hollow is the Group Event boss. You must contend with undead waves and flesh colossi before or during the main necromancer fight. Watch followers channelling magic towards Garneld, as they heal him and prolong the encounter.

  • Enter Garneld’s event chamber and kill the incoming undead waves.
  • Defeat the flesh colossi and keep dangerous adds away from the group.
  • Interrupt enemies channeling a heal towards Garneld.
  • Avoid the necromancer’s ground effects and keep applying damage.
  • Defeat Garneld and his followers to complete the Group Event.

This grants the Labyrinthian Group Event achievement and a first-clear skill point. A character only receives that event skill point once. The Skyshard is a separate collectible, so you can get both rewards on the same trip.

Labyrinthian Skyshard and completion

The Skyshard is within Labyrinthian’s burial mound. Follow the dungeon passages into the burial area and look for the light beam. It counts towards Western Skyrim’s eleven Skyshards; see our Western Skyrim Skyshard checklist for the other ten.

After collecting the shard, check the Labyrinthian Conqueror and Group Event achievement entries. The first requires the named champion encounters and the second requires Garneld’s event specifically. Defeating an ordinary pack or finding the Skyshard won’t substitute for the group boss.
