ESO Nchuthnkarst Public Dungeon is a Dwemer ruin in Blackreach: Greymoor Caverns. It contains five named boss fights and the Clockwork Criterion group event, with a Skyshard overlooking the crescent pool. The main achievements are Nchuthnkarst Conqueror for defeating its champions and Nchuthnkarst Group Event for the Criterion.
Because it is underground, the first challenge is reaching the dungeon entrance using Blackreach’s map layer and Great Lifts. Once inside, clockwork enemies, electrical attacks and the group-event boss’s invulnerable shield are the most important mechanics to know.
Where to find Nchuthnkarst

Enter Blackreach: Greymoor Caverns from Western Skyrim using a Great Lift, then find the Nchuthnkarst public dungeon icon on the underground map. Don’t look for the entrance on the Western Skyrim surface layer. Discover nearby Wayshrines to avoid repeating the long cavern approach.
Nchuthnkarst is a shared public dungeon rather than an instanced four-player dungeon. You can go in alone, meet players inside or bring a group. The encounters are still challenging if you’re new to Greymoor and have little experience with Dwemer enemies.
All six Nchuthnkarst boss encounters
- Dwarf-light the Destroyer: Dwemer arquebus using lightning charges, mines and spiders.
- Imperfect Iteration: a dangerous experimental Dwemer machine.
- Shahmar: one of the dungeon’s named champions.
- Brsssp the Behemoth: large, slow but damaging creature with falling stalactites.
- Krodunth the Mantikora: Mantikora champion in the Dwemer complex.
- Clockwork Criterion: group-event Factotum with mechanical minions.
These six named encounters form the completion checklist. Defeat the five champions and the Criterion to finish both the conqueror and group-event objectives. Checking the achievement entries individually is the easiest way to identify a boss you walked past.
Dwarf-light, Imperfect Iteration and Shahmar
Dwarf-light the Destroyer attacks with electrical effects and drops mines while summoning Dwemer spiders. Keep away from stationary hazards and clear the spiders if they start surrounding your character. For Imperfect Iteration and Shahmar, make sure you visit their separate marked boss spaces and respond to ground telegraphs rather than rushing ahead after the first machine fight.
The ruin contains more than its central walkway. Missing a side room may leave your Conqueror achievement incomplete even after you’ve crossed the main ruin. Clear each boss icon on the dungeon map before leaving.
Brsssp the Behemoth and Krodunth the Mantikora

Brsssp the Behemoth has slow, dangerous attacks and a roar that makes stalactites fall. Move out of marked impact circles and don’t stand under falling debris to maintain damage uptime. Krodunth the Mantikora is a separate named boss: watch the creature’s heavy attacks and keep enough stamina for a block or dodge when the area becomes crowded.
Handle the boss encounters one at a time. If several ordinary Dwemer enemies aggro alongside a boss, clear them to avoid taking chip damage while reacting to mechanics.
How to beat Clockwork Criterion Group Event
The Group Event boss is Clockwork Criterion, a Factotum accompanied by mechanical minions. It uses a lightning staff and electrical area effects, so avoid overlapping circles while the tank or most durable character keeps its attention.
- Approach the Criterion’s group-event arena and start the encounter.
- Move away from lightning circles and interrupt the boss when it raises its staff to channel a powerful attack.
- When Criterion creates its protective shell, stop attacking the invulnerable boss.
- Kill the summoned Factotum chargers, beetle fabricants, Dwarven spiders and other minions.
- Return damage to the boss when the shield drops and repeat until it falls.
Defeating Clockwork Criterion and its minions awards the Nchuthnkarst Group Event achievement and a skill point the first time the character completes it. You won’t get the Group Event reward merely by clearing the other five named champions.
Where is Nchuthnkarst’s Skyshard?
The Skyshard overlooks the crescent-shaped pool inside the dungeon. It lies close to the group-event area, so combine both pickups on one visit. The shard counts towards the seven Blackreach: Greymoor Caverns Skyshards, not the eleven Western Skyrim surface entries.
Our Blackreach Skyshard guide explains the remaining six underground shard clues. If the dungeon achievement doesn’t complete, open its details and compare every named champion with this list before repeating the event.
