Pokemon GO Trick or Treat: How It Works and All Possible Rewards

Pokémon GO Halloween 2026 Part I

Pokemon GO Trick or Treat is a special interaction with spooky surprises left behind by mischievous wild Pokémon during Halloween Part I, running from October 27 at 10:00 a.m. until November 1 at 10:00 a.m. local time. Tap the spooky objects you discover on the overworld to see what they contain. Each is a separate interaction from PokéStop Field Research. There is no confirmed player-choice menu or guaranteed reward for every tap.

The event announcement identifies possible rewards including Pokémon encounters, Candy for costumed Pikachu, Zubat or Sinistea, and Rare Candy. The event is live and results vary. The surprise encounter species are now documented, although individual reward odds and daily spawn limits remain unpublished.

Look for spooky surprises on the overworld during Halloween Part I. Tap them to claim their possible reward. These interactions are not the Field Research tasks collected from PokéStops, and they do not replace GO Pass tasks.

Pokemon GO Trick or Treat encounter rewards

Possible outcomeReward pool
Event encounterSpooky Festival Vulpix; top-hat Zubat; Halloween Gengar; headband Noibat
Species CandyPikachu Candy; Zubat Candy; Sinistea Candy
Rare CandyRare Candy, if lucky

The Pokemon GO Trick or Treat encounters are different from the PokéStop Field Research pools. A Candy reward doesn’t add that Pokémon to your collection, and a surprise doesn’t guarantee a Shiny or a particular costumed species.

Pokemon GO Trick or Treat can award an event Pokémon encounter. Niantic confirms event encounters, while the live event database lists Spooky Festival Vulpix, top-hat Zubat, costumed Gengar and headband Noibat in the surprise pool. No individual encounter chance is guaranteed.

Pikachu Candy rewards

Pokemon GO Trick or Treat can give Pikachu Candy. You can use it for the species, but it won’t add Pikachu wearing a hat and capelet to your collection. That costume comes from one-star raids, so check nearby Gyms if you’re missing it.

Zubat Candy rewards

Zubat Candy is another possible Pokemon GO Trick or Treat reward. Top-hat Zubat itself is a wild spawn during Part I, so check those encounters while exploring and collect any extra Candy from surprises as a bonus.

Sinistea Candy rewards

You can also receive Sinistea Candy. To catch Sinistea wearing a bow, look for the one-star raid rather than relying on a Candy reward. The costume does not automatically appear in your storage just because you collected its Candy.

Rare Candy rewards

Rare Candy is among the possible Pokemon GO Trick or Treat rewards. It can be assigned to a Pokémon of your choosing, unlike the three species-specific Candy rewards. There is no published Rare Candy drop rate, so don’t plan upgrades around receiving a fixed amount.

Pokemon GO Trick or Treat spawn limits and reward odds

Niantic has not stated how many surprises can appear each day, how often they return or the odds for different rewards. The event is now live, but exact daily limits and individual reward odds are still unconfirmed. There is no established Rare Candy-per-hour guarantee.

Best way to use the mechanic

During Pokemon GO Trick or Treat, check for map surprises as you move between wild catches, PokéStops and raids. Tap them as you find them. You can still prioritise top-hat Zubat in the wild or use passes on the Pikachu and Sinistea costumes, without committing your whole route to an unknown surprise spawn rate.

Where to look for Trick or Treat surprises

Pokemon GO Trick or Treat is tied to Halloween Part I’s map interactions, not a redeemable code or a purchase. When you are playing between October 27 and November 1, look at the overworld as you explore and tap the special surprises you find. Follow the actual in-game interaction to claim its result. There is no confirmed method to force one to appear by spinning a particular PokéStop or completing a certain research task.

The event also has other Ghost-type Pokémon activities, but they give different rewards. If your aim is a costumed catch rather than Candy, choose the correct encounter method: top-hat Zubat appears in the wild, while the new Pikachu and bow-wearing Sinistea appear in one-star raids. The costume guide covers those exact routes.

Can you farm Trick or Treat rewards?

Pokemon GO Trick or Treat gives you a reason to check special interactions during your normal event walk. The list of possible rewards does not establish how many you can find per hour, a guaranteed Rare Candy outcome or a reliable rotation of Pokémon encounters. Make the most of any you see, then carry on with catching and raiding rather than waiting at a single spot for an unannounced reset.

If you are also working toward Rank 10 or Rank 20 of the Halloween GO Pass, continue completing its pass tasks while exploring. The pass lasts longer than Part I; its earning deadline is November 5 and its reward-claim deadline is November 7, both at 8 p.m. local time.
