Manor Lords Fishmonger is the new artisan that makes Smoked Fish from Fish and Salt. It arrived with update 0.8.117 on 31 October 2026, when Slavic Magic promoted the farming changes to Steam’s default branch. The Fishmonger processes your catch rather than catching fish itself, so both ingredients need to be available.

The same update introduced Fish Husbandry, a Rural Foundations perk that improves the artisan’s efficiency and changes fish reproduction and winter fishing. Here is how the production chain works, what the perk actually does and what to check if your settlement isn’t making Smoked Fish.

What does the Manor Lords Fishmonger make?

Smoked Fish is the product. Slavic Magic confirms the recipe’s two ingredients as Fish and Salt. The new artisan takes resources from your settlement’s existing production and turns them into a processed food rather than adding a completely new way to catch fish.

The official notes confirm the two ingredients, but they don’t give an exact Fish-to-Salt ratio or a production time. Check the actual workshop display for those numbers rather than relying on a recipe copied from an older version.

How to supply Fish and Salt

Start by looking at the materials. Fish needs to come from your fishing economy and Salt is the second ingredient. If either resource is missing, there is no complete recipe for the Manor Lords Fishmonger to process. That matters more than choosing a development perk before your supply chain exists.

Fishmonger and Fisherman’s Hut do different jobs. Fishing provides the raw catch; the artisan handles the smoked product. You do not replace all fishing workers with a Fishmonger, and the update does not describe Smoked Fish as something you collect directly from a shoal.

Does Fish Husbandry unlock the Fishmonger?

Fish Husbandry is one of six Rural Foundations perks available from Settlement Level 3. Its confirmed Fishmonger bonus is 25% higher efficiency. The developer’s list does not explicitly say the perk is the required construction unlock, so don’t confuse the efficiency upgrade with the artisan’s introduction.

The Manor Lords Fishmonger is available as part of the version 0.8.117 additions, while Fish Husbandry is the perk that improves its output efficiency. Our Rural Foundations perk guide explains all six choices, including forestry and farming upgrades.

Fish Husbandry: capacity, reproduction and winter fishing

Fish Husbandry increases shoal capacity by 15%, cuts the fish reproduction rate by 50% and allows reproduction throughout spring, summer and autumn. It also allows fishing during winter, extending the months in which your settlement can catch fish.

That trade-off matters. A bigger shoal capacity and extra fishing season don’t mean the fish replenish quickly. The reduced reproduction rate still needs to be considered if you plan to supply the Manor Lords Fishmonger throughout the year.

The artisan’s efficiency bonus is a separate 25% improvement. It makes processing more effective but does not manufacture Fish or Salt when you have none. The same fishing resource still has to support your settlement’s catches.

Can the Fishmonger produce food in winter?

Fish Husbandry specifically enables winter fishing, so it may help maintain the raw Fish supply during that season. The notes do not give a special winter-only smoking recipe or extra Fishmonger bonus, so the dependable rule remains the usual Fish plus Salt input pair.

For Manor Lords Fishmonger production, check both materials rather than assuming the season alone determines whether the artisan can work. Fishing in winter and smoking fish are connected parts of the economy, but they are not the same task.

Why isn’t Smoked Fish being produced?

Check that Fish and Salt are available, then check the artisan’s staffing and production status in your game. If Fish is short, look at your fishing capacity and resource supply. If Salt is missing, increasing Fishmonger efficiency will not fix the absent ingredient.

This is also a good time to check the new fishing perk’s trade-off. Larger shoals can store more fish, but their reproduction is halved when Fish Husbandry is selected. Exact workshop costs, build slots and production ratios are not part of the developer’s highlighted changes, so follow your version’s building information for those details.

What else changed in the 0.8.117 update?

The Manor Lords Fishmonger arrived alongside the Dunghill and Fertilizer production, six Rural Foundations perks and new spring and winter planting rules. The Dunghill guide covers the separate animal-dung and farming system.

For the other mechanics, see our full Manor Lords 0.8.117 patch notes guide. In short, Manor Lords Fishmonger creates Smoked Fish from Fish and Salt, while Fish Husbandry improves its efficiency and changes the fish supply behind it.
