Planet Zoo 2 Update 1.0.8 arrived on 29 October 2026 at 14:00 GMT, with fixes for Franchise animals lost during release, negative Conservation Credits balances and zoos that crashed while loading. Frontier also changed the Save menu to reduce the risk of overwriting the wrong zoo.

The update also tackles aquarium disease, false escape warnings and construction stutter. Some animal behaviour and saving problems remain on Frontier’s work list. Below are the confirmed changes and what they mean if you’ve been affected.

These are the fixes most likely to matter if you’ve lost animals during a reserve release, found an impossible credit balance or struggled to open a zoo.

ProblemChange in update 1.0.8
Lost Franchise animalsNew animals automatically replace affected release groups lost during a crash or disconnect while sending them to a Wildlife Reserve.
Negative Conservation CreditsThe bug is fixed and identified affected balances were reset to 10,000.
Zoos crashing during loadingTwo loading crashes have been fixed; players should try previously blocked saves again.
Save overwritingThe menu now groups saves by current location and highlights the loaded save.
Aquarium diseaseDisease no longer spreads faster than intended.
False escape alertsA fix stops animals setting off escape notifications while inside their habitat.

Planet Zoo 2 Update 1.0.8 and Lost Franchise Animals

Frontier says some players lost animals when the game crashed or disconnected while a release group was being sent to a Wildlife Reserve. Those affected players have been identified, and the animals will be replaced automatically with new animals in their Wildlife Reserves.

This isn’t a general refund for missing trading-market animals. Check the Wildlife Reserve associated with the release before expecting anything in Animal Trading. If Franchise won’t connect, our Franchise Mode troubleshooting guide covers the separate server and login problems.

Planet Zoo 2 Update 1.0.8 Conservation Credits Fix

Players hit by a bug producing an unusually large negative Conservation Credits balance have been reset to 10,000 Conservation Credits. Frontier describes this as a fix for affected accounts, not a reward given to everybody.

You still earn credits through the normal conservation and trading activities. If your balance is wrong after the patch, record the amount and contact Frontier through its official Issue Tracker. For legitimate ways to earn more, see our Conservation Credits guide.

Does Planet Zoo 2 Update 1.0.8 Fix Crashing Saves?

Two crashes that could stop zoos loading have been resolved. Frontier specifically recommends opening previously blocked saves again after updating. Additional safeguards aim to reduce losses of animals or progress in Career and Sandbox.

If the save still fails, don’t delete it or overwrite it to test the patch. Report the issue using Frontier’s Issue Tracker and attach a copy of the save where possible. The new Save menu groups files by their current location and makes the loaded save clearer, helping prevent an accidental overwrite. Our crashing guide covers other checks.

Planet Zoo 2 Update 1.0.8 Animal and Aquarium Fixes

Animals should no longer trigger an escape notification while remaining in their habitat. Frontier also made further improvements to unexpected escapes and repeated boxing, and fixed a bug where animals spun on the spot.

For aquariums, disease now spreads at the intended rate. Small-exhibit keepers should no longer get stuck trying to access animals, and exhibit births are spread across the breeding season rather than all happening at once. There’s also a notification when animals pass quarantine and clearer information when an aquarium isn’t connected to power.

Planet Zoo 2 Update 1.0.8 Construction and Career Changes

Frontier fixed stutter after placing paths and barriers, plus an issue where grid objects didn’t align with objects in other groups. A crash when moving a connected water filter has been resolved, and loan options can be used again after previous loans are repaid over time.

In the Scottish Highlands scenario, the Blueprint toggle works again so you can place research equipment. In Sumatra, restarting the scenario after receiving the Asian Small-Clawed Otter release group no longer blocks progress. Franchise save slots also stay in their assigned order rather than moving whenever you play a different zoo.

What Planet Zoo 2 Update 1.0.8 Has Not Fully Fixed

Frontier is still working on climbing, jumping and pouncing, animals lining up correctly with enrichment items, unexpected escapes, repeated boxing, guest behaviour and saved games. Those are ongoing areas of focus, not issues the studio has declared fully fixed.

If a particular zoo remains broken, check the installed version before reporting it and include the steps needed to reproduce the problem. Our Update 1.0.5 notes cover the earlier October changes.
