Planet Zoo 2 Update 1.0.5 arrived October 16, 2026, with fixes for Franchise Mode, crashes, Career Mode softlocks and several missing controls. Frontier has improved the stability of loading zoos, added Edge Scrolling and fixed issues with animal behaviour and aquariums.
There are still known problems, particularly around Franchise connections and animals behaving unexpectedly. Here’s what actually changed, the Career stages repaired by the patch and the issues you’ll still need to watch for.

Planet Zoo 2 Update 1.0.5 Franchise Mode improvements
Franchise Mode loading should be more reliable, particularly for newly created zoos and those built on flat terrain. Frontier also made its online login window longer to reduce timeouts, increased server capacity and expanded the selection of animals listed by its zoos in the trading market.
The Planet Zoo 2 Update 1.0.5 adjustments rebalance male and female market listings and births in Franchise Mode. Wildlife Reserves should also charge the right amount of Conservation Credits. Frontier still considers Franchise stability an active problem, so a more reliable connection doesn’t mean every online error is gone.

What crashes and performance issues are fixed?
Frontier has improved texture streaming to reduce visible pop-in and addressed other stability issues. Two specific crashes are named in the Planet Zoo 2 Update 1.0.5 notes: selecting an Ecosystem Brush in Tanzania Reserve and assigning more than one command to the same key in the controls menu.
Steam Deck players using Proton 11 and later should also be able to connect to online services again. If your zoo still crashes, note which mode you were playing and what happened just before it closed. Frontier is continuing to investigate stability issues.
Career Mode fixes: Moon Jelly, Giraffes and Shoebill
In Nordic Fjords, deleting the Moon Jelly Exhibit too early could leave you unable to complete a later objective. Planet Zoo 2 Update 1.0.5 makes the exhibit placeable again. Great Rift Valley now blocks Quick Release for Giraffes when it would remove animals required later in the scenario.
East Africa had a softlock when players opened the Animal Trading menu during Alys’s dialogue about adopting a Shoebill. That interaction is fixed, while some incorrectly boxed animals in Sumatra Reserve will no longer appear that way when loading.
Edge Scrolling and other missing features
The Planet Zoo 2 Update 1.0.5 update adds Edge Scrolling to Keyboard and Mouse options. It also fixes settings not staying saved between sessions, the wrong terrain being selected for certain Taiga maps and the Zoopedia incorrectly hiding DLC animals from players who own them.
Other building and interface fixes include Terrain Only export from Career to Sandbox, path widths measured in feet, the Escape key after Nature Brush, and controls in the Edit Media and Advanced Move panels. Several browser and tooltip problems have also been addressed.

Planet Zoo 2 Update 1.0.5 animal and aquarium fixes
The patch corrects albino Meerkat textures, adult Career animals being marked as juveniles and some climbing animations. Fish should no longer end up outside an aquarium after moving the habitat, while shoals can use the new space when an aquarium is expanded.
Other fixes prevent African Penguins walking on water and unusually large splashes when animals land on wet beams. Veterinary staff should no longer become stuck removing dead aquarium animals, and full five-star park inspections should now produce a five-star result.
What’s still broken after the update?
Frontier is continuing work on climbing, jumping, pouncing, animals occasionally escaping or being boxed unnecessarily, and awkward enrichment alignment. Franchise stability also remains an ongoing priority after Planet Zoo 2 Update 1.0.5.
A VPN may interfere with Franchise connections. The developer has also warned that its username filter can flag innocent names because a banned word appears inside them, sometimes displaying a server error. If you’re affected, Frontier recommends contacting Support.
How to get Planet Zoo 2 Update 1.0.5
Check for the latest Planet Zoo 2 update through your platform’s normal download system, then retry whichever zoo, menu or objective was causing trouble. If it still fails, report the steps and the game mode through Frontier’s official Issue Tracker.
Planet Zoo 2 Update 1.0.5 is a bug-fix patch, not a new animal DLC. For previously fixed problems, the earlier Update 1.0.4 notes remain relevant.
