Teostra in Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance: Everything We Know

Teostra in Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance

Teostra in Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance is officially confirmed, with Capcom revealing the returning Elder Dragon during its Tokyo Game Show 2026 presentation. Unlike several other returning monsters, Teostra has already been playable in the TGS demo, giving us real information about how its Wilds fight has changed.

The demo places the hunt in the Oilwell Basin and combines familiar fire and blast attacks with new patterns built around Wilds’ Focus Mode, wound system and the Ascendance Boost Bracer. That makes Teostra in Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance one of the expansion monsters with the most concrete gameplay detail before release.

Capcom formally revealed Teostra during Capcom Spotlight at TGS 2026. The Elder Dragon was then included as one of the hunts in the playable Ascendance demo, alongside Chatacabra and the new Araketa encounter.

That demo status is useful because the information around Teostra in Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance goes beyond a trailer appearance. Players and press have already encountered the new attack patterns in an actual build of the expansion.

Where do you fight Teostra in Ascendance?

The TGS demo fight against Teostra takes place in the Oilwell Basin. That environment creates an awkward combination with Teostra’s blast-heavy fighting style because the area’s thick oil mud can interfere with movement just as the monster is preparing an explosion.

Capcom has not yet confirmed whether the final game limits Teostra in Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance to the Oilwell Basin or allows it to appear in other locales. The demo confirms that the Basin is at least one real hunt location.

What new attacks does Teostra have?

Teostra retains familiar charges, flame breath and blast explosions, but the Ascendance demo shows new attack behaviour as well. One of the clearest additions has Teostra rear onto its hind legs before slamming both forelegs down with heavy force.

The dangerous part is that Teostra can remain upright and pivot to follow the Hunter before the slam lands. That makes simply circling around the monster less reliable. In the demo, a Switch Axe Offset Rising Slash can meet the attack and deflect it with correct timing.

This is exactly the kind of change that makes Teostra in Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance more than a direct copy of an older fight. Capcom is keeping the Elder Dragon’s core identity while adapting its moves to Wilds’ counter, Focus and Boost systems.

Does Teostra still use fire and blast?

Yes. The TGS build confirms that Teostra still uses fire breath, blast-producing dust and explosive attacks. The Oilwell Basin environment can make those attacks particularly uncomfortable because poor footing can cost the Hunter time when moving away from a blast zone.

Exact Ascendance elemental hitzones and ailment values have not been published, so a final weakness chart for Teostra in Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance should wait for the expansion’s actual monster data rather than reusing values from World, Rise or another entry.

How does the Boost Bracer affect the Teostra fight?

The Ascendance demo allows hunters to use Boost Actions against Teostra. The Boost Bracer builds toward a temporary enhanced state and enables weapon-specific Boost Drivers, giving players new ways to create openings rather than relying only on the monster’s natural recovery windows.

Focus Mode and wound destruction remain relevant too. The playable build shows Teostra in Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance interacting with the same broader Wilds combat systems as the rest of the expansion instead of existing as an isolated legacy hunt.

Will Teostra have new materials and armour?

Ascendance introduces Master Rank crafting progression, but Capcom has not yet published a complete Teostra material table, armour set or weapon tree for the expansion. Those details should come from the final game rather than assumptions based on older Teostra sets.

Once those values are visible, materials, drops, armour and weapons can support separate farming pages. For now, the confirmed Teostra in Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance information is the monster’s return, its Oilwell Basin demo hunt and its updated attacks.

When does Ascendance release?

Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance launches in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. Capcom has not announced the exact month or day yet.

Players need the Monster Hunter Wilds base game and must complete the 7-star assignment Awaking From a Dream before beginning Ascendance and entering Master Rank.
