Overwatch December 2026 Drives: Competitive Signature and Points

Overwatch December 2026 Drives run from December 3 to December 7, with separate reward tracks for Quick Play and Competitive. Quick Play players can earn up to 3,000 Legacy Weapon Points, while Competitive offers up to 3,000 Competitive Points and a Competitive Signature. You can take part in either track, or pursue rewards from both.

That opens Drives to players who prefer Quick Play to ranked matches. If you don’t want to jump into ranked matches, there’s now a route to rewards in Quick Play. The important distinction is which type of Points each mode awards and how the Signature checkpoint works.

Blizzard’s Season 5 midcycle announcement gives Thursday, December 3 through Monday, December 7, 2026 as the event dates. That window applies to both Quick Play and Competitive Drives. The announcement does not state a single worldwide activation minute, so use the in-game Events tab for your region’s countdown.

The Overwatch December 2026 Drives event includes two reward paths. Neither is a replacement for the regular Battle Pass, Taking Reign or other Season 5 events. Each tracks Drive progress toward its own rewards during the published December event period.

Quick Play Drives rewards explained

Quick Play offers up to 3,000 Legacy Weapon Points. These are not the same as the Competitive Points awarded through the ranked Drive path. You can earn Drive rewards without entering Competitive.

To join in, open Quick Play when the event is active and check the Drive challenge or progress screen in-game. Blizzard confirms the total potential reward but does not include a complete checkpoint-by-checkpoint scoring chart in its midcycle article. Use the live tracker to see how much progress your matches actually earn.

Competitive Drives rewards and Signature

The Competitive track in Overwatch December 2026 Drives offers up to 3,000 Competitive Points plus a Competitive Signature. This is the route for players who want ranked progression and the profile cosmetic associated with a Drive.

Keep the two currencies separate. Don’t expect the Quick Play path to award the 3,000 Competitive Points from the ranked route, or claim you must play Competitive to get the Legacy Points. Blizzard explicitly describes separate tracks.

Can you complete both Drive tracks?

Yes. Blizzard encourages players to chase both the Quick Play and Competitive rewards if they want to. The two maximum figures are listed separately, so don’t describe the event as simply giving 6,000 Competitive Points. Up to 3,000 are Competitive Points and up to 3,000 are Legacy Weapon Points.

Whether you pursue both or just one track will depend on the matches you want to play before December 7. The Overwatch December 2026 Drives format is useful for players who prefer a less competitive session but still want progress toward weapon rewards.

How do you equip an older Competitive Signature?

Blizzard is expanding Signature customisation. Once you reach the fourth checkpoint during the current Drive, eligible previous Signatures can be equipped. That unlock rule applies to older Signatures that qualify; it does not mean you instantly receive every Signature ever released.

If you have an older one, reach checkpoint four and then inspect the available Signature options in your game profile. This is a customisation feature, not a promise that an old Signature automatically awards extra Competitive Points. The new Overwatch December 2026 Drives progression is still tied to the two event tracks.

How do Drive checkpoints and progress work?

Blizzard confirms the rewards, dates and fourth-checkpoint Signature feature, but the midcycle announcement does not provide the exact points earned from every win or loss. The updated patch notes describe the Drive tracks as separate, so check the event’s on-screen conditions as soon as it opens.

Start by choosing Quick Play or Competitive, play matches in the mode you intend to progress and then review the Drive screen. If it shows that you need another checkpoint, follow the current objective. Avoid using scoring figures from an older season without checking whether this Drive has the same requirements.

Are the Overwatch December 2026 Drives rewards free?

Blizzard presents Drives as a progression event for players in their relevant game modes. Its announcement does not list a paid Premium Drive Pass price. Choose the appropriate queue and reach its reward checkpoints.

You do not need to purchase the Taking Reign premium event pass to understand how Drives work. These are separate Season 5 reward systems. If a page claims the Competitive Signature is included in Quick Play without ranked participation, check that against the current Drives menu before relying on it.

What happens if your Drive progress is missing?

Check that the December 3 to 7 event has started, that you are playing in the relevant queue and that you are checking the right track. A Quick Play reward will not necessarily show under the Competitive Points column, and a Competitive Signature depends on the ranked Drive path.

Also check whether you have reached checkpoint four before looking for eligible past Signatures. The Overwatch December 2026 Drives announcement makes that unlock condition explicit, so merely owning an old Signature is not enough to activate the new customisation option before the checkpoint.
