The Overwatch Necrotic Knight Roadhog Mythic skin arrived on November 3, 2026. It has four customisation levels, including three distinct helmet options and a final upgrade that adds spectral effects. This is the Roadhog Mythic introduced during Season 5: A Grim Doctrine.

Blizzard describes a cursed knight who collects souls and becomes increasingly monstrous. The most useful detail before spending Mythic Prisms is what each level actually changes. Here’s the progression Blizzard has confirmed, plus what to check in the Mythic Shop before you unlock it.

There are four levels to the Overwatch Necrotic Knight Roadhog customisation track. Unlike an ordinary Legendary skin, Roadhog’s Mythic gains additional visual choices and effects as you unlock higher levels. Each level has a different purpose, from the starting character design to the full supernatural makeover.

LevelCustomisation
1Base Necrotic Knight form with custom effects
2Skull, Knight and Plague Doctor helmet options
3Additional colour palettes
4Ethereal skulls, claws, spectral flames, smoke and transformed ability effects

Those descriptions follow Blizzard’s November 3 announcement. The Overwatch Necrotic Knight Roadhog look is more customisable than a single costume purchase, but players should inspect the actual preview for the exact combination of colours and helmets available on their account.

What does Level 1 unlock?

Level 1 gives you the base Necrotic Knight Roadhog form, with the corrupted armour and special visual presentation that establishes the theme. The concept is that Roadhog carries an endless curse for consuming souls. This first stage gives you the appearance without every later customisation option.

If you mainly want a darker knight-inspired Roadhog skin, take a look at Level 1 in the Mythic Shop before deciding whether you need to unlock the remaining levels immediately. Higher stages add choices, but the base look is already the foundation of the outfit.

What are the Level 2 Roadhog helmet choices?

Level 2 of Overwatch Necrotic Knight Roadhog introduces three helmet designs inspired by a Skull, a Knight and a Plague Doctor. These are visual customisation options for the same Mythic skin, not three separately purchased outfits or new Roadhog gameplay abilities.

The helmets give the character noticeably different personalities. The Skull leans into the undead curse, the Knight focuses on corrupted armour and the Plague Doctor adds a more sinister medical style. Use the Mythic preview to compare how each looks with the other unlocked options.

What changes at Level 3?

Level 3 adds colour palette choices. This is useful if you like a particular helmet but want a different colour scheme to match your highlight intros or other cosmetics. Blizzard has announced extra palettes without laying out an exhaustive shade-by-shade chart in the midcycle post.

You can compare available palette combinations in the game rather than relying on a fan mock-up. The Overwatch Necrotic Knight Roadhog skin is about personalising the same character design across its levels, not gaining a separate hero or stat bonus.

What do you get at Level 4?

Level 4 is the more dramatic upgrade. Blizzard describes ethereal skulls, claws, spectral flames, smoke and transforming ability effects. Custom Hook and projectile visuals help sell the idea of Roadhog dragging cursed souls into battle.

Blizzard also confirms unique voice lines as part of the Mythic’s presentation. The Overwatch Necrotic Knight Roadhog effects are cosmetic; the official announcement does not say the skin increases damage, changes Hook range or makes the hero stronger in matches.

How do you get the Necrotic Knight Roadhog Mythic skin?

Open Overwatch’s Mythic Shop and select the Necrotic Knight Roadhog skin to view the base unlock and its additional levels. Mythic cosmetics use the Mythic Prism system, but Blizzard’s midcycle announcement does not quote the full Prism cost for every level or a permanent shop expiry date.

That means it is worth checking the live price and your available Mythic Prisms rather than assuming a number from another Mythic. The Overwatch Necrotic Knight Roadhog page in game should show which levels you own and which upgrades can be obtained next.

Is this a free Roadhog skin?

No free unlock is announced for Necrotic Knight in the official midcycle overview. It is presented as a Mythic cosmetic, not as the free Sigma recolour in the Taking Reign event. Those are separate rewards and should not be confused just because they arrived in the same update.

If you are collecting free Season 5 rewards, check Taking Reign and the Excavation Initiative instead. They have event-specific goals, while the Roadhog Mythic is a Mythic Shop item with upgrade levels.

Does the skin affect Roadhog gameplay?

The different helmets, palettes, voice lines and spectral effects change what you see and hear. They do not give Roadhog an extra ability. If you want to know whether his actual damage, healing or cooldowns changed, refer to the November 3 balance patch notes rather than a cosmetic description.

The Overwatch Necrotic Knight Roadhog skin is best judged on its design and effects. Preview the final level, especially the Hook animation, before committing more Prisms. If you prefer the base skin or a particular helmet, you can make that choice based on the cosmetics themselves.
