Ocarina of Time Switch 2 Fast Travel: All Six Warp Songs and Destinations

Ocarina of Time Switch 2 fast travel still depends on six warp songs taught by Sheik. There isn’t a Breath of the Wild-style map where you can tap any unlocked marker to teleport. Nintendo actually tried adding more warp points to the remake, then removed them to preserve the journeys between locations.

That doesn’t mean crossing Hyrule Field every time you want to revisit a temple. Each song takes you to a fixed destination, and you learn them during the adult Link story. Below are all six locations and how to use the new ocarina controls.

With Ocarina of Time Switch 2 fast travel, each song has one destination and must be learned through the story. You’re not choosing a coordinate from the map. Sheik teaches the songs as Link reaches the relevant temple regions, so the full set isn’t available when the game begins.

Warp song Destination When you learn it
Minuet of Forest Sacred Forest Meadow, Forest Temple approach From Sheik near Forest Temple
Bolero of Fire Death Mountain Crater, Fire Temple approach From Sheik at Death Mountain Crater
Serenade of Water Lake Hylia, Water Temple approach From Sheik after the Ice Cavern
Nocturne of Shadow Kakariko Graveyard, Shadow Temple approach After the major Kakariko storyline event
Requiem of Spirit Desert Colossus, Spirit Temple approach From Sheik at the desert approach
Prelude of Light Temple of Time From Sheik during adult Link progression

For Ocarina of Time Switch 2 fast travel, Serenade of Water is the handy shortcut back to Lake Hylia, while Prelude of Light returns Link to the Temple of Time. These songs don’t place you in the middle of a dungeon or bypass its locked doors.

How to play a warp song

To use Ocarina of Time Switch 2 fast travel, take out the ocarina and play a song Link has already learned. You can enter the notes using the mapped buttons, or hum the melody into the Switch 2’s built-in microphone. Holding ZL on the song screen brings up a list of learned tunes if you need a reminder.

Once the game recognises the warp melody, follow its travel prompt. If humming isn’t being recognised, use the button inputs instead. Our Ocarina songs guide covers the note controls and other tunes without making you memorise the same list twice.

Did Nintendo add new map warp points?

Ocarina of Time Switch 2 fast travel doesn’t include new map warp points. Nintendo producer Eiji Aonuma said the team added them during development, then removed them after testing. Skipping the journey meant players missed the small discoveries and detours that make Ocarina of Time feel like an adventure.

The six existing songs remain the Ocarina of Time Switch 2 fast travel system. You can still travel on foot, roll or dash, and ride Epona when available. The change is that Nintendo didn’t add a separate network of map-pin teleports.

How to unlock the first warp song

The first Ocarina of Time Switch 2 fast travel song is Minuet of Forest, which Sheik teaches near the Forest Temple as the adult quest gets underway. The other five arrive at specific points around Death Mountain, Lake Hylia, Kakariko, the desert and the Temple of Time. Follow those encounters rather than trying to play every melody in advance.

A tune you haven’t learned won’t unlock a shortcut merely because you know its notes. If your story progress is unclear, check the songbook or the Threads of Time tracker to see where you need to go next.

Where does Serenade of Water take you?

Serenade of Water takes Link to Lake Hylia, near the Water Temple. Sheik teaches it after the Ice Cavern sequence, so it’s particularly useful when you need to return to the lake for another try at the underwater dungeon.

The warp only saves the journey to the lake. You still need the Iron Boots for the submerged Water Temple entrance, and you’ll have to manage the three water levels once inside. See our Water Temple walkthrough for that route.

Can you warp straight into a temple?

Warp songs land at fixed outside locations, or the Temple of Time in the case of Prelude of Light. Requiem of Spirit, for example, takes you to Desert Colossus, not directly through the Spirit Temple’s locked rooms.

Nocturne of Shadow brings you back to the graveyard near Kakariko. Like every Ocarina of Time Switch 2 fast travel song, it skips the overworld journey rather than handing you dungeon keys or letting you jump past story requirements.

What if a warp song isn’t working?

If a warp isn’t working, check that Sheik has taught you the song and that you’re playing the correct notes. Holding ZL displays the learned songs. If you’re in a sequence where the ocarina cannot be used, finish it or return to a normal area before trying again.

Don’t confuse the warp songs with Epona’s Song, Sun’s Song or Song of Time. Those are useful for other purposes but are not part of the six temple-destination warp songs. The remake retains the familiar song-based progression rather than introducing new map icons.

Why Nintendo kept exploration important

Aonuma’s explanation was straightforward: travelling across Hyrule creates opportunities to notice something unexpected. New warp markers removed too many of those moments, so the developers dropped the idea while keeping modern movement improvements.

Ocarina of Time Switch 2 fast travel therefore gives you six dependable destinations, not an open-ended teleport menu. Learn the songs from Sheik, play the right melody and then make the remaining journey on foot or horseback.
