Shrek 2 Remastered PC requirements are available from developer Aspyr, but Steam and Epic show very different specifications. Aspyr and Steam list 8GB RAM with a GTX 1060 or RX 570 at minimum, while Epic lists 16GB RAM with an RTX 4060 or RX 7600. That difference is large enough to matter if you’re checking an older gaming PC.

The remaster launches on 10 November 2026. Before buying it, compare both sets of published requirements below. The discrepancies include Windows compatibility, recommended graphics cards and even the amount of storage needed.

Shrek 2 Remastered PC requirements: Aspyr and Steam minimum versus recommended

Aspyr published its own figures on 28 October, and they match Steam. Here’s the full minimum-versus-recommended comparison:

ComponentMinimumRecommended

These Shrek 2 Remastered PC requirements are hardware recommendations, not benchmark results. Aspyr hasn’t supplied an FPS target or graphics preset for either tier. Meeting the recommended GPU line is not a guarantee of 4K at 60fps.

Shrek 2 Remastered PC requirements: why the Epic Games Store is different

Epic’s storefront currently has higher figures. Its minimum asks for a GeForce RTX 4060 or Radeon RX 7600, while its recommended tier asks for an RTX 5070 or RX 9070. It also lists 12GB of storage, compared with Aspyr’s 15GB:

ComponentMinimumRecommended
Operating systemWindows 10/11, 64-bitWindows 11, 64-bit

As of 31 October, those higher Epic requirements remain displayed. Neither store says why its figures differ, so there is no basis for claiming Epic needs a more powerful PC because it runs differently. Compare your hardware with the list used by the shop where you’re buying.

How much storage does the remaster need?

For storage, the Shrek 2 Remastered PC requirements give two figures: 15GB available from Aspyr and Steam, compared with 12GB on Epic. Neither figure is a confirmed download size. If you’re choosing how much space to clear, allowing at least 15GB covers the larger published requirement, with additional room useful for installation and later updates.

How to check your PC before buying

On Windows, open Settings → System → About to find your processor, installed memory and whether Windows is 64-bit. Open Task Manager → Performance → GPU for the graphics model, then check free space in Settings → System → Storage. Searching Windows for dxdiag opens the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.

The Shrek 2 Remastered PC requirements also disagree about Windows: Aspyr specifies Windows 11 in both tiers, but Epic allows Windows 10 or 11 at minimum. Both require a 64-bit system and DirectX 12. If your PC only meets one list, particularly a Windows 10 machine, check the exact storefront and seek clarification before purchasing.

Can Shrek 2 Remastered run at 4K?

Aspyr advertises upgraded textures, refreshed menus and cutscenes, and 4K support on capable systems. It has not published confirmed 60fps or 120fps targets for the listed GPUs. Neither DLSS, FSR, ray tracing nor ultrawide support can be assumed from the specification tables.

For controllers, Steam states full controller support and recommends a gamepad. Epic lists one under additional input devices. Those labels aren’t proof that a gamepad is mandatory for every PC setup.

Is Shrek 2 Remastered Steam Deck Verified?

Steam labels its Steam Deck compatibility Unknown, not Verified. The desktop requirements don’t provide a measured handheld frame rate. The game supports local, online and mixed co-op for up to four players. Our multiplayer guide has the full mode breakdown.

Which Shrek 2 Remastered PC requirements should you use?

Start with Aspyr’s own support article, whose lower figures match Steam, then check the store you plan to use. Epic’s higher tier is still on its product page, and the conflicting details have not been explained there. If you’re buying on a system close to the minimum, don’t mistake either table for a promised frame rate.

Shrek 2 Remastered releases on Steam, Epic, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch and Switch 2 on 10 November. Those Windows requirements don’t apply to console editions. Read our release date and platforms guide for the other versions.
