Metro Redux PC Requirements changed with the October 22, 2026 next-gen update for Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux. The new Windows build requires Windows 10 or 11, a GTX 750 Ti 2 GB or Radeon R7 260X 2 GB at minimum, and 20 GB of available storage for each game.
The two Redux games share the same updated minimum and recommended hardware. You’ll need 20 GB of free storage for each title, and there’s an official legacy branch for Steam and GOG players whose computers run the older releases better.
Metro Redux PC Requirements: Minimum and recommended specs

| Storage | 20 GB available | 20 GB available |
The graphics cards in the Metro Redux PC Requirements table are useful reference points. A newer laptop processor doesn’t automatically make its integrated graphics powerful enough for the update. Look up your exact GPU model before comparing the specs.
Metro Redux PC Requirements for both games
The minimum and recommended hardware are identical for Metro 2033 Redux and Last Light Redux. Allow at least 40 GB of free space for both installed together, plus extra room while your storefront unpacks updates.
The Windows requirements apply to the refreshed PC editions. Steam still lists separate older macOS and Linux requirements, which shouldn’t be confused with the new Windows specifications.
Metro Redux PC Requirements: Is 4 GB RAM enough?
The Metro Redux PC Requirements list 4 GB RAM as the minimum and 8 GB as recommended. If your system only meets the minimum, start with lower detail settings and increase them after checking how smoothly the game runs.
At the recommended GPU tier, try your monitor’s native resolution and see how the frame rate holds up. If it struggles, lower the most demanding settings or try one of the new upscaling options before abandoning the refreshed game.
Metro Redux PC Requirements for installation size
Metro Redux PC Requirements list 20 GB available space per game. That is the listed installation requirement, not a promise that the download itself is exactly 20 GB. Keep additional free space while downloading or patching, especially if your storefront needs room to replace large files.
If you’re keeping both Metro games installed, reserve a little more space than the published 40 GB combined minimum. Storefronts need working room to download, unpack and apply patches.
DLSS, FSR, TSR and uncapped FPS support
The update adds NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR and 4A TSR alongside uncapped frame rates. DLSS is for compatible NVIDIA cards, but the other upscalers give players different ways to balance performance and image sharpness.
Upscaling is useful when the game handles a lower resolution well but struggles at the monitor’s native setting. High-refresh-rate players can also benefit from the uncapped frame rate if their hardware can keep up.
What to do if your PC misses the new minimum
Deep Silver offers an official legacy build option on Steam and GOG for systems that work better with the previous Redux release. The Steam and GOG branch names are metro_2033_redux_legacy and metro_last_light_redux_legacy, depending on which game you own.
To install an older version through Steam, open the game’s Properties and Betas menu and select its named legacy branch. In GOG GALAXY, open Manage Installation and Configure, disable automatic updates and select the legacy version. Copy your saves before changing branches.
Windows Store, Steam, Epic and GOG differences
Steam, Epic and GOG received the update on October 22, while Windows Microsoft Store followed October 29. The published rollback instructions are for Steam and GOG, rather than all four storefronts.
The Windows Microsoft Store upgrade has a separate save restriction. Older Windows Store saves don’t transfer to the new build. Chapter Select does unlock every chapter, letting you start at a later point using standard equipment.
Do these requirements include ray tracing?
The Metro Redux PC Requirements do not demand ray-tracing hardware because the update does not include ray tracing. Deep Silver says the upgrade preserves the existing Redux engine and campaigns while improving graphics, controls, compatibility and performance rather than rebuilding the games.
If your PC meets the minimum, install the current version and choose graphics settings that suit your hardware. If it struggles, consider the supported legacy option on Steam or GOG before changing system files or downloading unofficial performance tools.
