How the Pokémon GO Summer Marathon GO Pass Works
The Pokémon GO Summer Marathon GO Pass is a limited-time progression track linked directly to the Arctic Embers event.
Players complete Pass Tasks to collect GO Points. Earning enough GO Points increases the player’s rank, with new rewards becoming available at different points along the track.
Every Trainer will automatically receive the free version of the pass when the event starts. There is no need to purchase or activate the basic track separately.
The paid GO Pass Deluxe adds a second reward track. Trainers who upgrade can claim both the standard free rewards and the additional Deluxe rewards unlocked at each completed rank.
Players can also upgrade after they have already begun progressing. Any eligible Deluxe rewards from previously completed ranks can still be claimed after upgrading.

- Rare Candy
- Ultra Balls
- Additional items
The complete rank-by-rank reward list has not yet been revealed. This section can be updated once the pass becomes available and every reward has been confirmed.
Snom will be among the featured Pokémon connected to the event, making GO Pass progression especially important for Trainers hoping to obtain the newly released Shiny Snom.
Pokémon GO Summer Marathon GO Pass Bonuses
Progressing through the Pokémon GO Summer Marathon GO Pass also unlocks bonuses that remain active during the event.
The first Major Milestone is reached at Rank 10.
Free-pass players will unlock double XP for spinning PokéStops, while GO Pass Deluxe holders will receive triple XP instead.
The second Major Milestone begins at Rank 20.
Free players will unlock half Egg Hatch Distance, while Deluxe players will receive quarter Egg Hatch Distance.

| Rank 10 | 2× XP for spinning PokéStops | 3× XP for spinning PokéStops |
| Rank 20 | Half Egg Hatch Distance | Quarter Egg Hatch Distance |
The reduced Hatch Distance only applies to Eggs placed inside an Incubator while the bonus is active. Eggs already incubating before the bonus is unlocked will not receive the reduced distance.
Pokémon GO Summer Marathon GO Pass Deluxe Price

| Pass option | Price | Included progression |
|---|---|---|
| Free GO Pass | Free | Standard progression |
| GO Pass Deluxe | US$4.99 | Free and premium reward tracks |
| GO Pass Deluxe + 6 Ranks | US$6.99 | Free and premium tracks, starting at Rank 7 |
Local prices may differ from the listed US prices.
Pokémon GO Summer Marathon GO Pass Deluxe Rewards
Trainers who purchase the paid Pokémon GO Summer Marathon GO Pass will receive access to extra rewards alongside everything included on the free track.
Confirmed Deluxe rewards include:
- Additional event-themed Pokémon encounters
- Incense
- Silver Pinap Berries
- Rare Candy XL
- Candy XL
- Additional premium items
The complete reward track has not yet been published, so it is not currently possible to calculate the exact total value of the Deluxe upgrade.
Whether the paid pass is worthwhile will depend on the unrevealed rank rewards and how much value each player places on Candy XL, Rare Candy XL and additional Pokémon encounters.
Can You Upgrade the GO Pass Later?
Yes. Trainers do not have to purchase GO Pass Deluxe immediately when the event begins.
Players can start with the free Pokémon GO Summer Marathon GO Pass, complete ranks and then upgrade later. After upgrading, previously unlocked Deluxe rewards can still be collected.
This means there is little need to buy the pass before seeing the complete reward track in-game. Players can inspect the available rewards and decide whether the premium version offers enough value.
However, purchasing the six-rank option is most useful early in the event because its main benefit is faster progression.
Pokémon GO Web Store GO Pass Bonuses
Purchasing the Pokémon GO Summer Marathon GO Pass Deluxe through the Pokémon GO Web Store includes additional items.
The standard Deluxe pass and Deluxe plus six ranks option both include:
- 10 Ultra Balls
- Five Max Revives
- One Premium Battle Pass
- Five Max Potions
A web-exclusive Ultra Box will also be available with the Deluxe pass and six ranks. Its bonus contents include:
- 20 Ultra Balls
- 10 Max Revives
- 10 Max Potions
- Two Premium Battle Passes
- One Incubator
- One Super Incubator
The web-store version will activate once the event GO Pass begins.
Is the Pokémon GO Summer Marathon GO Pass Deluxe Worth It?
It is currently too early to say definitively whether the Pokémon GO Summer Marathon GO Pass Deluxe is worth purchasing because the full rank-by-rank reward list has not been revealed.
The premium track will be most appealing to Trainers who regularly hatch Eggs. Quarter Egg Hatch Distance is significantly stronger than the half-distance bonus offered through the free pass, particularly with Snom appearing in event 5 km Eggs.
The extra Rare Candy XL, Candy XL and Pokémon encounters may also improve the overall value. However, players who are primarily interested in completing the free Timed Research and catching wild event Pokémon may be satisfied with the standard pass.
Since the Deluxe upgrade can be purchased later without losing previously unlocked premium rewards, the safest approach is to begin with the free pass and review the complete reward track once it becomes visible in Pokémon GO.
