Gigantamax Rillaboom Max Battle Day has officially been announced for Pokémon GO, giving Trainers their first opportunity to battle and catch Shiny Gigantamax Rillaboom when the event arrives on Saturday, August 1, 2026.
The three-hour event introduces Gigantamax Rillaboom to six-star Max Battles, alongside increased Max Particles, additional Power Spots and several bonuses designed to make taking on the powerful Grass-type Pokémon much easier.
Gigantamax Rillaboom Max Battle Day Date and Time
The Gigantamax Rillaboom Max Battle Day event takes place on:

2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time
During Gigantamax Rillaboom Max Battle Day, every active Power Spot will host six-star Gigantamax Battles featuring Gigantamax Rillaboom, giving Trainers three hours to battle and catch the powerful Grass-type Pokémon.
Shiny Gigantamax Rillaboom Debuts
For the first time in Pokémon GO, Trainers will have the chance to encounter Shiny Gigantamax Rillaboom after successfully completing a Max Battle.
As with previous shiny debuts, encounters are not guaranteed, but every completed battle offers a chance if you’re lucky.
Event Bonuses
Niantic is including a wide range of bonuses throughout the event.
Active during Max Battle Day
- Max Particle collection limit increased to 1,600
- All Power Spots will feature Gigantamax Battles
- Power Spots refresh more frequently
- Additional Power Spots appear across the map
- 8× Max Particles from Power Spots
- Up to three Special Trades
- Remote Raid limit increased from 10 to 20 between July 31 at 5:00 p.m. PDT and August 1 at 8:00 p.m. PDT
Additional bonuses on August 1
From 12:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. local time, Trainers will also receive:
- 2× Max Particles from exploring
- ¼ Adventure distance required to earn Max Particles
Remember you’ll need to collect all available Max Particles from the Nearby menu before these bonuses can begin applying.
Event Ticket
Players can purchase an optional event ticket for US$4.99 (or regional equivalent).
The ticket includes exclusive Timed Research featuring:

Prepare for Six-Star Max Battles
Gigantamax Pokémon are among the toughest encounters currently available in Pokémon GO, making teamwork essential.
Niantic recommends using the in-game map and Community Ambassador meetups to locate nearby Power Spots and coordinate battles with other Trainers before the event begins.

How to Prepare for Gigantamax Rillaboom Max Battle Day
If you’re planning to take part in Gigantamax Rillaboom Max Battle Day, it’s worth preparing before the event begins. Since Gigantamax Pokémon only appear in six-star Max Battles, you’ll need a strong team and, ideally, other Trainers to battle alongside. Make sure you collect your available Max Particles before the event starts, as the increased collection bonuses only apply once your current supply has been claimed. It’s also worth checking nearby Power Spots in advance so you know where battles are likely to appear. If you’re planning to purchase the optional event ticket, completing the exclusive Timed Research during the event will earn additional Max Particles, XP and a Max Mushroom to help strengthen your Dynamax team.
