The Palworld 1.0 patch notes introduce 72 new Pals, the Sunreach region, the World Tree, a level cap increase and major changes to almost every part of the game.
Palworld has officially left Early Access with an enormous version 1.0 update. Pocketpair has expanded the world, rewritten the main story flow, added new ways to strengthen Pals and rebalanced exploration, combat, crafting and base building.
The Palworld 1.0 patch notes are extensive, but the biggest additions include the mysterious floating region of Sunreach, the long-awaited World Tree, 72 new Pals and a new maximum player level of 80.
Existing players can continue using their old worlds, although several forms of mission and world progress have been adjusted to support the redesigned experience.
Here are all the biggest Palworld 1.0 changes and new features.

Sunreach Added in Palworld 1.0
Sunreach is one of the largest new additions in the Palworld 1.0 update.
The mysterious region consists of islands floating high above the existing world. Sunreach contains new Pals, settlements, resources, missions and materials connected to ancient civilisation technology.
Players will need to progress through the redesigned story before fully exploring everything the region has to offer.
| Sunreach Content | Included in Palworld 1.0 |
|---|---|
| New Pals | Yes |
| New settlements | Yes |
| New NPCs | Yes |
| New sub-missions | Yes |
| New materials | Yes |
| New expedition destination | Yes |
| High-level fishing areas | Yes |
| Ancient technology | Yes |
Sunreach is closely connected to the World Tree and the revised Palworld storyline.
It is expected to become one of the main destinations for returning players who have already completed most of the original islands.

The World Tree Is Finally Accessible
The World Tree has been visible in the distance since Palworld first launched, but players could not properly reach or explore it.
The Palworld 1.0 patch notes finally turn the World Tree into a major playable area.
The World Tree sits at the centre of the revised story and contains some of the most difficult content in Palworld. Players can explore its depths, discover ancient secrets and obtain materials used by new progression systems.
The area contains Radiant Gems, which are required to Awaken Pals.
Pocketpair describes the World Tree as the location where players will face their greatest challenge so far.
Palworld 1.0 Adds 72 New Pals
Palworld 1.0 adds 72 Pals to the game.
| New Pal Type | Number Added |
|---|---|
| Completely new Pals | 47 |
| New Pal variants | 25 |
| Total new additions | 72 |
| Total Pal roster after update | 287 |
The new Pals can be found throughout Sunreach, the World Tree and other areas of the map.
Some existing Pal habitats have also been changed. This means returning players may find that familiar Pals now appear in different locations or at different levels.
The Palworld 1.0 patch notes state that Pal placement has been rebalanced to create a more natural progression route through each region.
New Pal Awakening System
Awakening is a new system that allows players to strengthen their favourite Pals beyond their previous limits.
To Awaken a Pal, players must collect Radiant Gems from within the World Tree.
The full effects depend on the Pal and its progression, but Awakening provides another long-term way to improve powerful team members.
| Awakening Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Main material | Radiant Gems |
| Material location | The World Tree |
| Purpose | Strengthen existing Pals |
| Intended stage | Late-game progression |
| Works with older Pals | Yes |
Awakening bonuses are displayed on a Pal’s status screen alongside enhancements gained from Pal Souls.
The new system gives players a reason to continue developing older Pals rather than replacing every team member with a newly added species.
New Mutation Breeding Mechanic
The Palworld 1.0 patch notes introduce Mutation as a new breeding mechanic.
Breeding Pals now has a small chance of producing a mutated Egg. Pals born from mutated Eggs have higher stats and receive a unique passive skill.
Two new Cake types have also been added to influence breeding results.
| New Cake | Breeding Effect |
|---|---|
| Mushroom Cake | Slightly increases the chance of stronger offspring stats |
| Vegetable Cake | Produces two Pal Eggs at once |
Mutation adds an additional layer to selective breeding.
Players searching for the strongest possible Pals may now need to consider parent skills, passive inheritance, base stats and the chance of producing a Mutation.
Palworld 1.0 Level Cap
The new Palworld maximum player level is 80.
Before version 1.0, the maximum level was 65. The full release therefore adds 15 new player levels alongside new technologies and ancient civilisation equipment.
| Version | Maximum Player Level |
|---|---|
| Before Palworld 1.0 | Level 65 |
| Palworld 1.0 | Level 80 |
Players using existing saves will not have their current level reduced.
Accumulated experience is automatically adjusted to fit the new experience table.
A separate guide covering the fastest ways to reach level 80 will be useful once players begin comparing the new progression routes.
Palworld Story and Main Missions Reworked
The story has received one of the largest changes in the Palworld 1.0 patch notes.
Exploration, Tower Bosses and the journey towards the World Tree are now connected through a clearer main mission structure.
Previously, players could explore Palpagos and defeat faction leaders without always understanding how those activities connected to the wider story.
Version 1.0 adds:
- A revised main story flow.
- New continuous sub-missions.
- Additional NPCs.
- New journals containing world lore.
- Clearer links between exploration and Tower Bosses.
- A stronger path leading towards Sunreach and the World Tree.
- Multiple mission markers displayed at once.
Main mission and sub-mission progress may be reset on existing saves because the quests and their rewards have changed.
Some tutorial and Tower Boss missions will automatically be marked as complete when the game detects that the relevant boss has already been defeated.
Do You Need to Start a New Palworld Save?
Players do not need to start a new save for Palworld 1.0.
Existing worlds can continue into the full release, and player levels will not be reduced.
However, some progression is reset or adjusted.
| Existing Save Data | What Happens in Palworld 1.0? |
|---|---|
| Player level | Carried over |
| Accumulated XP | Adjusted to the new experience table |
| Pals | Carried over |
| Bases and buildings | Carried over |
| Lifmunk Effigies | Carried over as Pal Effigies |
| Main mission progress | May be reset |
| Sub-mission progress | Reset |
| Completed Tower Bosses | Used to autocomplete some missions |
| Bounty defeat history | Reset |
| Random Pal spawn placement | Older data may not carry over correctly |
Starting again is therefore optional.
A fresh world may provide the clearest version of the redesigned story and progression, but established players can keep their bases, Pals and resources.
Tower Bosses Have Been Reworked
Tower Bosses now have redesigned arenas with individual visual themes.
Some bosses also use new movements, attacks and battle mechanics.
The time limit for standard Tower Boss battles has been reduced from ten minutes to five minutes, with boss stats adjusted to account for the shorter encounters.
| Tower Boss Change | Palworld 1.0 Adjustment |
|---|---|
| Tower appearance | Redesigned |
| Boss animations | Updated for selected bosses |
| Boss skills | New skills added |
| Time limit | Reduced from 10 minutes to 5 minutes |
| Boss stats | Rebalanced |
| Hard Mode unlock | Connected to Azure Covenant Tower |
Players who previously defeated every Tower Boss may still need to revisit some battles to experience the new versions.
More Than 200 Partner Skills Reworked
Pocketpair has added or reworked Partner Skills for more than 200 Pals.
The Palworld 1.0 patch notes include new detection abilities, stronger combat effects, improved healing and more useful exploration bonuses.
Some examples include:
- Nox can detect nearby Pal Effigies.
- Healing Pals now restore a percentage of maximum health rather than a fixed value.
- Follow-up attacks can no longer finish off a Pal that the player is attempting to catch.
- Partner Skill descriptions now show exact numerical effects.
- Rank increases are reflected directly in the skill description.
These changes could substantially affect the best Pal rankings.
Pals previously considered weak may become useful for gathering, exploration, combat or base management due to their redesigned skills.

New Pal Passive Skills
Several new passive skills have been introduced.
| New Passive Skill | Effect |
|---|---|
| Lightfooted | Increases jump count while mounted |
| Reload Master | Improves player reload speed |
| Ranch Master | Increases Ranch Work Suitability by two |
The World Tree also introduces extremely powerful passive skills with negative side effects.
| World Tree Passive | Benefit | Drawback |
|---|---|---|
| Twin-Edged Holy Blade | Attack increased by 50% | Defence decreases |
| Dimensional Leap | Movement speed increased by 50% | Hunger falls faster |
| Demon’s Hand | Work speed increased by 90% | Sanity falls faster |
These skills create more specialised Pal builds.
A Pal may become exceptionally powerful in one role while requiring additional food, recovery or protection to manage its drawback.
More Than 100 New Pal Animations
Existing Pals have received more than 100 new animations.
Pals can now display additional behaviours while swimming, sleeping near the player, relaxing at a base or standing idle.
The 47 completely new Pals also have their own individual movements and personality animations.
This change does not directly affect combat strength, but it should make bases and travelling parties feel more alive.
Pal Combat Has Been Rebalanced
The Palworld 1.0 update makes party Pals more powerful in combat.
Following the overall damage rebalance, Pals in the player’s party can deal damage equal to or greater than the player.
Active Skills have also been adjusted, with many existing Pals receiving new attacks.
Wild Pals now use additional combat behaviours, while party Pals should target nearby enemies more reliably.
Other combat changes include:
- Improved sword and beam weapon hit detection.
- More manageable armour durability.
- Dodge rolling reduces Burn and Muddy durations.
- Bows can be cancelled using the reload input.
- Compatible bows can switch between ordinary, Fire and Poison Arrows.
- Captured NPCs can use their original weapons.
- Some attacks have longer charge times and are easier to avoid.
These adjustments make Pal selection more important during difficult battles.
Pal Capture Rates Are Easier
The formula used to calculate Pal capture probability has been changed.
Pals should now be easier to catch overall.
Pal Spheres have also received crafting adjustments.
| Pal Sphere Change | New Requirement |
|---|---|
| Basic Pal Sphere | One Paldium Fragment |
| Wood requirement | Removed |
| Stone requirement | Removed |
| Ultimate Sphere Pal Metal Ingots | Reduced from 10 to 5 |
Follow-up attacks from Partner Skills can no longer deliver the final hit to a wild Pal, reducing the risk of accidentally defeating a creature before throwing a Sphere.
13 New Weapons Added
The Palworld 1.0 patch notes introduce 13 new weapons.
Confirmed examples include:
- Mechanical Bow.
- Combat SMG.
- Plasma Rifle.
- Drone Launcher.
- Laser Sword.
- Beam Launcher.
- Additional ancient civilisation weapons.
The number of available weapon slots has also increased.
Many of the new weapons require Soralite Ingots or other late-game materials found through the updated regions and technology tree.
Wing Pack Added
The Wing Pack is a new type of glider that allows the player to fly without using a Pal mount.
The Wing Pack consumes Wing Cells while active.
| Wing Pack Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| Equipment type | Glider |
| Fuel | Wing Cells |
| Requires a Pal | No |
| Main uses | Exploration, combat and base movement |
| Added in | Palworld 1.0 |
This provides players with another movement option when their party does not include a flying Pal.
The Wing Pack may be particularly useful while exploring vertical locations within Sunreach and the World Tree.
Plasma Multicutter Added
The Plasma Multicutter is a new high-level gathering tool.
It can harvest both Ore and Wood and can be used while the player is mounted.
This reduces the need to carry several different gathering tools while exploring.
The ability to collect materials from a mount should also make resource runs faster in high-level regions.
New Armour and Accessories
Version 1.0 adds Ancient Series equipment, including a new helmet, armour and shield.
Players can also obtain boss-themed headgear.
A total of 44 new accessories have been introduced, including items with multiple effects.
| New Accessory Example | Effect |
|---|---|
| Command Baton | Strengthens party Pals |
| Air Walker | Improves player movement options |
The old accessory +1 and +2 system has been removed.
Existing basic accessories have been strengthened to provide performance equivalent to the previous +2 versions.
Accessories are now primarily created using Schematics rather than obtained as complete item drops.
New Base-Building Features
Base builders receive a substantial selection of new pieces and quality-of-life improvements.
The Palworld 1.0 patch notes add:
- Aquatic Construction Kits.
- Ancient civilisation structures.
- Inverted triangular roof pieces.
- Faux plants and decorative greenery.
- Pal statues.
- Arcade cabinets.
- Additional furniture.
- New shoreline and sea building options.
Players can now build bases along coastlines and over water.
Storage has also been improved.
Chests can be named, painted and configured to automatically accept matching items without being opened.
World Map Overhaul
Several changes have been made throughout Palpagos.
| World Change | Details |
|---|---|
| Ancient Ruins | New exploration areas containing rewards and Schematics |
| Watchtowers | Reveal map areas and become fast travel points |
| New islands | Seven small islands across volcano, desert and ruins biomes |
| New settlements | Added to Bamboo Groves, Snowy Mountains, Sakurajima and Sunreach |
| Sea bases | New enemy bases added offshore |
| Wildlife Sanctuaries | Completely redesigned |
| Fast travel | Additional points added |
| Auto-run | New automatic running option |
The Wildlife Sanctuaries are now larger conservation areas with unique environments, Pals, rare materials, defence drones and powerful bosses.
Players can sneak through the searchlights or fight the security systems directly.
Multiplayer and Server Improvements
Palworld 1.0 includes several changes for multiplayer worlds and dedicated servers.
| Multiplayer Improvement | Details |
|---|---|
| Guild roles | Multiple customisable roles |
| Guild permissions | Can be assigned by role |
| Guild markers | Shared map markers added |
| Chat history | Increased to 200 lines |
| Discord integration | Available on Steam and Mac |
| Server passwords | Saving and restoration improved |
| Save stability | Improvements to reduce corruption risk |
| Streamer protection | Server address hiding option |
| Connection warning | Unstable connection icon added |
Dedicated server stability and the process of joining multiplayer games have also been improved.
A guild can now have only one raid boss battle active at a time.
Gold, Loot and Crafting Rebalanced
The amount of Gold found in treasure chests has been increased by approximately two to four times.
Shops, item values and Pal prices have also been reviewed.
Crafting requirements for weapons, armour, ammunition, saddles and Schematics have been adjusted to create a more consistent progression route.
Other economy changes include:
- Improved Oil Rig treasure chest rewards.
- Revised Expedition rewards.
- New Dog Coin exchange items.
- Rebalanced dungeon rewards.
- Additional Legendary Schematics.
- Higher ammunition crafting yields.
- Stat Enhancement Fruits can be crafted using Lotus.
- Cave Mushrooms no longer spoil.
The Palworld 1.0 patch notes aim to make exploration, crafting and equipment upgrades feel more naturally connected.
Pal Box and Interface Improvements
The Pal Box now has a search function.
Players can search for a Pal by name and sort the collection using additional categories, including Expedition Power.
The Paldeck can also filter creatures by element and incomplete capture bonuses.
Other interface improvements include:
- Clearer Partner Skill descriptions.
- Awakening and Pal Soul bonuses shown on status screens.
- Status effect icons displayed beside health bars.
- Better map zoom and icon selection.
- A Retrieve All button for base Pals.
- Favourite settings available directly from the Pal Box.
- Improved crafting filters.
- A redesigned loading screen.
- Vertical FOV settings for ultrawide displays.
- A visible weapon selection list.
- Food can be used directly from Feed Bag slots.
These changes should make managing hundreds of Pals and items far less awkward.
Should You Remove Palworld Mods Before Updating?
Players using mods should remove them before launching version 1.0.
The update changes a huge number of game systems, files, Pals and world features. Older mods may therefore cause crashes, missing content or corrupted behaviour.
Simply disabling a mod may not remove every modified file.
The safest approach is:
- Back up your Palworld save.
- Uninstall every existing mod.
- Verify the game files.
- Launch Palworld 1.0 without mods.
- Check that the world loads correctly.
- Wait for mod creators to confirm compatibility.
- Reinstall compatible mods one at a time.
Do not assume that a mod working before version 1.0 will remain safe after the full release.
Biggest Palworld 1.0 Changes
